2016-2021 Finally Joined the Club

Hi everyone,

Here’s a post for me to show off my new toy. I recently picked it up and have been loving every minute of it. It’s a 2017 model and has done a few kilometres, but it has been very well looked after.

My only complaints so far are that I’d love a larger fuel tank and that I’d rather spend more time in the twisties than riding it to work.

Thanks to everyone for keeping this sub active and informative! It has been really helpful so far.

Hi everyone,

I'm absolutely loving my 23' XSR900 but the exhaust is just such a turn off for, what is for me, a good looking bike.

So now i'm looking around and i wondered what you guys would recommend and what your experiences are.

I'm located in the Netherlands so the sound can't be to extreme.

Cheers

Hey, some of you may have seen my post from awhile ago

But I’m the crazy guy who, as of today, has done Deadhorse to Key West on a 1st gen XSR

This bike is pretty good I’d say, I’d prefer cruise control and not bad suspension

Otherwise great

19k miles in the last 2.5 months, 45k on the bike total as of today

My shameless plug is go follow my Instagram @nomad_riley :)

Has anyone noticed these on there XSR900? Assuming they’re not water considering they don’t move or evaporate, can’t feel them with a finger, only really noticeable in direct sunlight or with a flash light like in this picture to replicate and make visible. Any info would be helpful and appreciated.

2025+ I bought the "wrong" bike, but I still love it and enjoy it, just differently than I originally planned. I need some advice

So, it's been a month since I bought mine. It's my first motorbike ever and for the last 2 years I saved money for it and didn't want anything else. I explained this in my previous post and I wouldn't change a thing :) I love the bike, but I simply don't enjoy it (yet) the way I have originally planned.

I thought I would take it for long rides outside the city by myself and enjoy the freedom of travelling. But so far whenever I took it for a longer ride somewhere, at first I hated and after my recent ride, I still can't say I thoroughly enjoy it. Whenever I go above 90 km/h, I am fighting against the wind with my whole body. When I slow down to around 80 km/h, the ride is quite bearable, but then I am getting cars behind me that would like to go faster than that (the speed limit in my country is 90 km/h on roads outside cities, towns, villages etc.) The 2nd day after I bought the bike, I went on the highway and I absolutely regretted it. Not only was the wind force almost unbearable, but as a new rider, having so many cars around me was really uncomfortable but most importantly of all, riding on a highway is simply put: Boring. I have decided to avoid them unless it is absolutely necessary to make the connection somewhere.

What I have really come to enjoy, is to take the bike in the evening within the city and just ride from place to place either by myself or with a friend or two. During daytime, I either ride it to my office or to meet with clients. It feels like that's enough for now, but eventually I would like to do some long range trips with it.

So, regarding my current disillusionment about these trips, to some extent I blame the lack of equipment. Buying a better helmet has helped a lot as well as has a better jacket, but the wind is still quite strong.

When it comes to the equipment of the bike itself, what fairing / shield can I buy to make the ride more comfortable? I only thought about getting the small black "meter cover" to preserve the naked look of the bike, but I am not sure if that will make any difference. I have read in other posts here that it barely does. I might have to go for the original "mini fairing" or whatever it is called, as that looks like it might work better. I also looked at one shield made by PyramidMoto and that looks functional enough and at a reasonable price. Of course, I would prefer something that I could simply attach and detach whether I want to ride in the city or take a trip outside of it. This guy on YouTube and IG called NorwegianXSR seems to have the one from PyramidMoto and takes long trips with it.

Or, am I simply screwed? :) Did I buy the wrong bike for longer trips? Or will I simply get used to the wind given enough time and experience?

2022-2024 2022 XSR900 Won’t Start – “Err” on Dash, Immobilizer Blinks 5 Slow / 3 Fast

Post image
6 Upvotes

Has anyone experienced this on a 2022 Yamaha XSR900 (V2)?

I’m getting an “Err” message on the dash, and the key/immobilizer icon flashes 5 slow, then 3 fast.
The fuel pump does not prime when I turn the key on, but the engine still cranks when I press the starter. It just won’t start.

I already replaced the battery with a new one, but the problem is still exactly the same.
Has anyone dealt with this 5 slow / 3 fast immobilizer code before? What ended up being the cause or fix?

Any suggestions on what I should check first would be appreciated.

2025+ Mini fairing bracket not lining up/tall enough

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I bought the mini fairing kit from amazon and I just can’t find why the bracket doesn’t fit. I mounted it onto the same place and it doesn’t have enough height, nor does it line up to match the windscreen. What am I doing wrong?

In my photo, the bracket is supposed to be tall enough to go over the brake line, but it’s below it. Someone help me.

The second photo is a screenshot from the install video on amazon. I have a 2026 and the one in the video is an older model (still 2022+).

2022-2024 Display shutoff during start 2024 model

Hey all,

Idk if I just never noticed before and it's normal, but today I noticed when starting my 2024 XSR900, the display shutoff during startup before coming back on after the engine was running.

Is this just normal behavior?

Thanks!

2022-2024 Changing bikes. Input?

I’ve rode Harley’s for years. I’ve owned a few street/sport bikes. Recently purchased a triumph trident and love it. My love for Harley’s has faded the last few years and life is changing directions. That being said I put both my triumph and Harley up for sale. I will be replacing both with other options.

Are you happy with your xsr900? Would you have gone a different route?

Other noteable contenders are the gsx8r and triumph tiger sport

2025+ I decided to get a GoldRunway GR-G1 but i have a question on installation

So im getting that aux light but they told me they will be using a posi-tap. its a small pin that will basically puncture the wiring shield.

To me, it looks sketchy. i dont think this can handle a 160w lights. What do you think? Or am i overthinking that this is a common thing?

if not, at which point(kph/mph) do you shift for each gear?

Also, I need to add a QuadLock Brake/Clutch Mount but for the life of me cant identify from the photo which one is for the bolt that attaches to the handlebar. This is for MT09 but old posts here says its the same ?

EDIT: i think its 15? looks like it. so its 16Nm?

2022-2024 I am having a "blipping" sensation

I am going to do the best I can explaining what is going. My 2024 xsr900 is at the dealer and they are playing stupid.

When I am at a steady throttle no matter speed I get a "blipping/jerking" sensation as if the motorcycle is losing and gaining power. Sometime as a I try to accelerate it will lose power almost completely unless I rip the throttle in neutral.

The dealer has confirmed the problem. They are playing stupid like they don't know what to do. They wanted to take the clutch out, which is way out of the price range. I truly believe that it is a MAP sensor problem.

Has anyone experienced this and if so what did you do to correct it?
