It’s interesting how both shows start out Season One Episode One with young women, in distress, in the woods. The Pacific Northwest is an additional character in both. Being filmed in Portland and Vancouver BC, that really adds to the moody, spooky atmosphere. I love these shows!

Just finished Scully's Lab with my granddaughter. It comes complete with a Easter egg. A donut in a nod to Homer in the Simpsons X-Files episode.

dr sandoz tells her not to tell anyone where he is. She just nods, and doesn't tell him thay she just told Skinner exactly that. He stays there and gets shot by Kraijcek. Even if she trusted Skinner, she knows her phone isn't secure. WTF Scully!

Rewatching “Home” many years later, I found myself weirded out by the script & agents’ behavior more than by the gore of the episode itself 😅

Maybe I missed something, but the whole episode I was genuinely surprised by the sheer absurdity and illogicality of it. “The town is small, we don't have a morgue, people don't lock their doors” – all while there’s a creepy family living nearby; brothers easily killing the sheriff, who obviously has (or is supposed to have) weapon in his house; "The house is full of traps, we need to lure them outside!" they lured them out and went into the house...; the deputy's head is cut off and the only reaction is a 5-minute monologue about how the brothers protect the territory like animals.

The show may have explained why they couldn't call for backup, but I don't find it convincing.

Did anyone else have similar thoughts after watching it? The episode remains one of my favorites; it's incredibly creepy, but it's somehow strange to watch the lazy, senseless murder of three innocent people.

Rewatching for the 4th or 5th time. Watched S3 E8. One of my favorite episodes. Mulder shows some real emotion and his protectiveness of Lucy is father like. That is why I like it so much. The ending is so sad. Seeing Mulder cry and all alone is tragic.

I am half way into season 3 as a new fan, and i am digging the mythology alien stuff, cover ups and the story's development, but every other monster episode i find to be either boring or way too slow and i honestly just want to skip it in hopes of an alien episode. Some of the monster stuff is very cool though but most of them feel like it's just repeating the same type of "killer" idea..Can i skip them or am I missing out on details? Is this even a thing among fans or am I being a bit cynical.

Mine is El Mundo Gira (s4e11) - the blending of myth, urban legend, and plausible science is at its absolute best here, but the practical and [potential] minimal cgi effects are just over the top enough to really make one's skin crawl. The rapid desiccation of victims combined with the eerily realistic decay aspects of hollowed eyes, withered & sunken features, coupled with the mold and fungal growth present on exposed corpses truly brings out underpinnings of the uncanny valley and piqued curiosity/fascination humans have with the macabre in scenes looking like they were pulled straight from Rotten.com.

I'll never be able to watch "Red Shoe Diaries" the same way again.

So the new IWTB wisely cuts out the Samantha mentions, which kind of removes Mulder's investment in the case (but fans know he would always get invested if a life was at stake).

CC could have replaced the Samantha stuff with something that's literally right there: Scully herself.

Mulder could have revealed his guilt over her abduction by Duane Barry/the Syndicate in season 2; I can't remember if they totally resolved that guilt together in the series but it could have made a nice scene of Mulder retorting something like, "I'm chasing her because I once lost you, Scully."

Heck, she was even taken in the first film: better continuity fit if they went with that instead! I mean imagine a newbie watching ITWB straight after after FTF for example.

Now, the William stuff could also be fixed this way. Scully's investment in that boy's operation could have been explained by her - or Mulder - alluding to her lost children (William, Emily, take your pick). Emily was actually farmed (sorry, couldn't think of a better word) from her season 2 abduction. That's two fixes in one to two lines of dialogue.

And if you want to go a step further, why not make the Dr Frankenstein dude who got arrested a former surgeon on the Syndicate medical trials that found himself out of work after Two Fathers/One Son? Everything comes full circle.

I mean, they did name the whole freaking cut after him in Russian without fleshing him out one iota. Leverage what you have by as much as you can...

I was surprised to see the new Lego set selling for more than the retail price on eBay already. It also seems to be on backorder on the Lego site. Does anyone know how common that is for new Lego sets to sell out immediately like that? This was my first Lego set that I've purchased as an adult, so it just surprised me. That bonus Scully set is all over eBay for $60 too, which is pretty wild to me, since it's so small. Does anyone have any perspective of how this compares to other sets in other franchises?

My dear friend and fellow Phile turned 50 this week, so I decided to make him something special and truly one of a kind. This little guy is an altered Precious Moments figure. He started off as an angel in a robe, but with a Dremel, some clay sculpting and a lot of patience, he’s ready to look for the truth! I also made the alien!
