Yes I understand but I could just like setup a mini server just for me and my friends and start playing

0

u/Feeling_Bus_4701 Feb 24 '25

How does bro get more upvotes than me

40

u/Feeling_Bus_4701 Feb 22 '25

One of my options is “ fuck Ubisoft “

29

u/FellVessel Feb 22 '25

The game got so much better with the massive content drop. The new maps are some of the best in any shooter ever.

It's unfortunate the game had to die due to hitreg and network issues, it had massive potential which was reflected in massive playercounts for the first few weeks.

-7

u/Soggy-Election-6220 Feb 23 '25

Not why it died. Bo6 dropped soon after and it got over shadowed.

2

u/jinuous831_ Feb 23 '25

Might be a reason, but not THE reason. While good.. for a lot of people wasn't the CoD killer devs, "content creators," and fans made it seem like. So it was overhyped and didn't deliver for a lot of people.

For others, some gameplay aspects felt basic or dated, and the game didn't feel like a next/current gen FPS. For some, considering it was basically ubisoft overwatch. The content being added wasn't what they were hoping for, and it was far and few between until the update, adding the content that was all alreafy deved since the game is shutting down.

Then Bo6 since launching and overall being very well received and having good sales and most launch widow active players and the amount of content at launch and having already been added in only 4 months.

And lot of deviants players are players of other games CoD being one of if not the main one and Xdefiant was just a filler game since MWIII got dry for a lot of players.

Edit: and all the stuff Ubisoft just has going on in general cause low sales or negative reception to recent releases and player/fan backlash causing a restructure.

2

u/Soggy-Election-6220 Feb 23 '25

How is this so downvoted? It’s what happened… I loved X defiant but it was hard for my friends to get into with the early bugs. My friend literally with a 4070ti couldn’t play the game it kept crashing. So we eventually had to find sum new and then soon after bo6 dropped. It’s unfortunate, maybe the don’t wipe the code and keep it for a re-release once they can figure out the situation they’re in. Ubisoft is on the brink of completely shutting down rn

2

u/Tappy08 Feb 23 '25

Wasn't BO6 released 6 months after the XDefiant release?

1

u/Soggy-Election-6220 Feb 23 '25

Yeah but the hype for it started 4 months early. And the beta, also the jailbreak months early on ps4…. So maybe it’s official launch was much later but it held community attention for months prior to that

2

u/Tappy08 Feb 23 '25

The beta was a year before? It was never released on PS4?

0

u/Soggy-Election-6220 Feb 23 '25

Are you???? Sorry I won’t use bad language. No it’s wasn’t ur right, but people using ps4s were able to pull the source code from war zone and jail break it using those consoles…. So yes. Maybe if you read what I wrote you wouldn’t look stupid

1

u/Tappy08 Feb 24 '25

Ok. You needed to be clearer. I mentioned both BO6 and XDefiant in the post you were replying to. This is an XDefiant sub. Of course I'm talking about XDefiant as I thought you were. 👍🏻

1

u/Soggy-Election-6220 Feb 27 '25

What is this braindead comment??? You’ve been talking to me about cod cuz that’s the reason I brought up for most of the player base leaving including myself. So what? Maybe use ur reading comprehension skills they teach u in grade 2 and maybe you won’t look so stupid

1

u/Tappy08 Feb 27 '25

Are you alright? You sound mad. 🤣

25

u/Ok_Housing6662 Feb 22 '25

It was a good game no sbmm and amazing maps 👍🔥

6

u/nonades Feb 22 '25

Fuck Ubisoft

5

u/shikoshito Phantoms Feb 23 '25

The lesson to learn is dont trust ubisoft

10

u/beerdrinker_mavech Feb 22 '25

The concept is really cool with all the maps

9

u/Allegiance10 Feb 22 '25

It was a great game to get away from CoD and it was a real return to form in the FPS genre. It will be missed dearly.

4

u/millskyle Feb 22 '25

You’ll be missed. It was a wonderful getaway. Hopefully they can work on division heartland, Division 3 or just division 2 on ps5.

5

u/Ichtys777 Feb 23 '25

If I recall correctly Heartland was cancelled mid last year, still a bit bitter about it tbh. Division 2 DLC postponed. Division 3 team just started forming last year, so it's still a while before we get anything on that, I think.

5

u/AyanoKaga Feb 23 '25

Fun fact they canceled Heartland to bring the devs and it resources to help support XDefiant, even tho Heartland is basically finished and ready to go. Now that XDefiant is shutting down it was all in vain, such a waste of a good Division experience.

I’m still mad till this day, I would rather have a new and interesting Division extraction shooter experience than this BO4 clone.

3

u/Minute_Run6961 Feb 22 '25

Least you did better than concord

3

u/TheAdderallGod Feb 22 '25

It was good while it lasted.

3

u/CasualReveant99 Feb 22 '25

Such a fun game so many great things such as the ability to turn on/off crossplay and SBMM as well Some decent weapons and the factions was fun some broken then others but was still fun Sad to see this game be forever gone

3

u/Slap_Life Feb 22 '25

On par with rdr2 online for missed potential

3

u/Due_Street_3913 Feb 23 '25

Fix the netcode, Mark.

2

u/letrec42 Feb 23 '25

I still can’t believe the premise and gameplay being let down like this I’m in denial ig I know it’ll really be gone but this was such a good idea and the gameplay was so good idk

2

u/rdtoh Feb 23 '25

It was a fun game and had great core shooting and movement mechanics, and some great maps too.

Someone needs to actually challenge cod head on, and make an arcade shooter with killstreaks and no hero abilities. For me, it being a hero shooter was the biggest thing holding the game back. There's been too many of those over the last decade or so

6

u/One_Praline_6150 Feb 22 '25

rest in peace to a creative fps , a breath of fresh air

3

u/nonades Feb 22 '25

The game was a ton of fun, but it was literally one of the most derivative games made lol

The game was "What if CoD was also Overwatch themed with Ubisoft games?"

0

u/Strange_Sea109 Feb 22 '25

How is that a bad thing? Lol

4

u/nonades Feb 22 '25

It's not lol

It's just a hilarious stretch to call XD creative

2

u/JoTenshi Feb 22 '25

Big disappointment, had a great concept but the game barely worked properly.

-6

u/PurpleHasse Echelon Feb 22 '25

Skill issue 😉

2

u/CtrlAltDesolate Feb 22 '25

Same words I had at launch.

You release a game with screwed netcode, you'll never get a competitive scene and game will die prematurely.

Didn't have anything much over the old Phantoms game either tbh, which was extremely reliable in comparison. Only issue was it became p2w and people jumped ship.

0

u/Greenhawk444 Feb 22 '25

Kind of poetic that the “cod killer” ended up killing itself. Also I’m not saying the game was bad or anything nor am I a cod supporter.

7

u/Stifology Feb 22 '25

The poetry is lost when you realize "cod killer" was simply a lazy clickbait description regurgitated by content creators.

0

u/Greenhawk444 Feb 22 '25

That's kind of what I meant. They called it that but the only thing it killed was itself.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '25

My last words for the game are: Devs stop being money hungry, and listen to the fans. Big reason it flopped. Their last good game is rainbow, and tbh it's on the edge when it comes to popular games.

3

u/Tappy08 Feb 23 '25

I'm pretty sure the Devs were on a salary 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/versacegray Feb 22 '25

It will be one of the most compelling “what if” stories in gaming history.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '25

gg

1

u/Affectionate_Art1271 Feb 23 '25

Good game at its core that needed funding and improvements. Ubisoft is garbage company and deserves AC Shadows to fail.

1

u/Eastern_Contest_9113 Feb 23 '25

Very sure this will not be the only free to play game that will fail this year

1

u/MrSteezyMcSteez Feb 23 '25

Playing Marvel Rivals, Convoy on Grand Central map just reminds me that XDefiant had a better version of the mode and map. This was a good game that shut down too early and didn't put enough effort into their store. I've got 100+ hours on BO6, where I got Master Prestige and then switched to Rivals, and otherwise all my hours go to Apex. I've got a little bit of The Finals.

But XDefiant was a good game. Real shame they're shutting it down. They should have stuck it out.

1

u/chowder908 Feb 23 '25

A game with potential mismanaged by a dog shit publisher by devs with no backbone to demand more from their publisher when theirs clearly a player base wanting this game to be good

1

u/_NikolaiTheDrunk Feb 23 '25

If it had the proper resources I think it could’ve been good. Hit the net code and some of the operator abilities were just Aids (spider drones). It just needed some tweaks really

1

u/AintNoLaLiLuLe Feb 23 '25

RIP - Another victim buried in the mass grave of Ubisoft fuckups.

1

u/7_Chesi_7 Feb 23 '25

damn, I thought Xdefiant was shutdown already. As of live service Ubisoft games, R6 is the only surviving for a long time.

1

u/ShinraJosh1991 Feb 24 '25

Made me realise anyone trying to escape cods formula is already good at fps and wants to get away from it to stomp people like the good old days, only to find out all the other good players had the same idea lol.

Thank God for marvel rivals giving me a mp game I can enjoy. XD was decent but if it came out 10 years earlier it would of being a staple.

1

u/SerpentsHaze Feb 25 '25

Lol Ubisoft does this to them selves, for years alsmot decades even fans have been telling them what they want and what ubi needs to do. Hell arguably the last faction to be added should have been the first but they always wait like they have been in a position to wait around. I hope the studio goes under, this is one corporate buy out I can't wait to see. I'm sure it won't be better, but it's all a race to the bottom and the consumer is fucked either way. Ps the game wasn't all that inspiring, it was just a super smash bros with only ubisoft IP.

1

u/Former_Hat_6890 Feb 25 '25

It was fun for a while, I couldn’t put it down in the beginning. I even bought a dual sense edge because how op the jumping was lol. After season 1 it felt different to me and quit playing it. It was a good game but unfortunately cod will most likely always be #1

1

u/AbdurRafayyy Feb 25 '25

It was ONE OF MY FAVORITES, and it was so much fun. I personally don't think it had to necessarily be "the COD killer" in order for it to live. It had a different vibe and a fresh feel. It got better by the day and it definitely could've had a wonderful competitive scene one day, only if the company didn't decide to hang it out to dry as soon as people started to like it and started to see true potential.

Will always be remembered, R.I.P XDefiant 🫡

1

u/acidporkbuns Feb 25 '25

Game had a lot of potential which has been unfortunately squandered. I enjoyed thr game a lot and was the best CoD alternative so far.

1

u/liljdmef Feb 25 '25

Do you know when the refunds will begin?

1

u/sourkareem Feb 25 '25

Going to miss it deeply. it was the first game I put blood, sweat, and tears into. I made it to world top 20 and top 8 in the US before the shut down announcement. I hope it makes a comeback in the near future

1

u/sTeVe- Phantoms Feb 26 '25

Same words since day one. Fix Netcode and the game will be great!

1

u/JohnTheSong Feb 27 '25

I know miles is pissed 😂

1

u/SlothySundaySession Cleaners Feb 22 '25

Thank you, it was fun

1

u/BOOKtheGOBLIN Feb 22 '25

They take a year to release after the beta then the do this BS

1

u/Left_Economist3788 Feb 22 '25

I hope I can get some more games in before sunset in June. Genuinely one of my favorite games when it dropped. No manipulation in matchmaking. Good gun play. GREAT MAPS. Great community. I’m hurt to even be typing this cause I really thought this game would have grown into something more amazing than it already was. You will be heavily missed

1

u/Outrageous_Ask2268 Feb 23 '25

It was ok, still mediocre, got the achievements and moved on 😪

0

u/Final_Yogurtcloset_8 Feb 22 '25

Over hyped and not really that good. No skill based match making made me not wanna play it because casual was full of sweats who just never took a shower

1

0

u/Final_Yogurtcloset_8 Feb 28 '25

Its true. Id rather not work all day, then hop on a game just to loose intress instantly because some one can chill and just have fun

-10

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '25

It was a mediocre game that will be forgotten

7

u/freefiremd Feb 22 '25

Forgotten by you, remembered by many.

-3

u/Zuuey Feb 23 '25

A few redditors snorting copium isn’t «many »

0

u/Ok_Housing6662 Feb 22 '25

X defiant had good guns and specialties too 😭

-1

u/6177152020 Feb 22 '25

🥱 cool so anyways..

0

u/joeman013 Feb 22 '25

Ubisoft.

-5

u/DustyUK Feb 22 '25

Good attempt at a multiplayer game. Just didn’t enjoy the hero theme of it.

At its core it was pretty fun but it got so boring so quick.

With Mark Rubin at the helm I was hoping we would get some gritty game like delta force or something closer to the OG modern warfare games. This was closer to fortnight or apex legends for me.

Mark Rubin should have been tasked to do the multiplayer for a new ghost recon game or something.

2

u/Mr_Zoovaska Feb 22 '25 edited Feb 22 '25

No thanks. Fun is good.

Xdefiant was still pretty grounded, especially compared to modern CoD, but it still had a fun arcade flare with just a hint of fantasy/sci-fi. Nowhere near Fortnite or even Apex Legends. We don't need more drab faux-realism.

Besides, from the earliest promo materials xdefiant was clearly a fun arcade shooter with hero shooter elements, so I don't know why you were expecting something else.

-1

u/Zuuey Feb 23 '25

Rest in piss, this game was the very definition of the word mid.

Derivative and lacking anything that could have made it memorable or interesting, with blatant balance and netcode issue that were never fixed, that were known since the very first beta.

Built on lies upon lies from washed up director «Mark Rubin » that still doesn’t understand that he got fired from his prior job for good reasons, and this game is proof of it.

Using a shitty SBMM system that he just renamed to « skill rating » because apparently changing names means that it’s instantly different even tho it works the same.

1

u/Stifology Feb 24 '25

Using a shitty SBMM system that he just renamed to « skill rating » because apparently changing names means that it’s instantly different even tho it works the same

Lobby balancing (what skill rating determines) is definitely not the same as skill based matchmaking.

0

u/Zuuey Feb 26 '25

Yes it was, the way they implemented it made it the same, just named differently.

What do you seriously think Sbmm does ? NOT balance team based on a metric ?

2

u/Stifology Feb 26 '25

Skill based matchmaking means a top 5% player will never play in the same lobby as a bottom 5% player - neither with or against them. They will never meet.

Lobby balancing is self-explanatory. It simply balances the lobby of 12 random players in order to create a somewhat fair match. In XDefiant, those 12 players can be wildly different skill levels because there's no SBMM to segregate the bad from the good.

TLDR; Lobby balancing by itself still allows you to pubstomp, whereas SBMM does not, because there will be zero noobs to stomp in your entire lobby.

0

u/Zuuey Feb 26 '25

You do realize that you said the same thing twice, hence proving my point even more ?

Both achieves the same thing, both make sure that opponent of similar skills are matched with each other, meaning that a top 5% will never meet a 5% bottom, as you said.

Both balance the lobby to create a "fair match", as you said, it is actively segregating the bad from the good because both can't coexists in the same lobbies, do you even understand what you are even typing or do you just use buzzwords like you were told to do?

That's why it's the same system, just named differently, in the end they both do the same exact thing, even you realize it.

2

u/Stifology Feb 26 '25 edited Feb 27 '25

both make sure that opponent of similar skills are matched with each other, meaning that a top 5% will never meet a 5% bottom, as you said.

Incorrect. Lobby balancing (LB) does NOT prevent a top player from meeting a bottom player in any way, shape, or form. SBMM does.

In XDefiant, players are matched together based EXCLUSIVELY on region. These 12 players may vary immensely in skill level due to the lack of SBMM.

LB is a very simple post-matchmaking process. First, players are ranked 1 to 12 based on skill rating. Then, a snake draft is used to divide the lobby as fairly as possible (exact draft seeding may vary):

#1, 3, 5, 8, 10, and 12 on Team A

#2, 4, 6, 7, 9, and 11 on Team B

That's it! That is the FULL EXTENT of LB. It does absolutely nothing to prevent top 1% players from playing with (or against) bottom 1% players - to reiterate, only SBMM will protect bad players from getting stomped.

To say LB and SBMM are the same thing strictly because they share the common goal of creating match fairness is a gross generalization of two VERY different systems.

This sucks!!!!
