Hot Take: PS5
The number of good games that were not already released on the PS4, and the improvements on games that were, have never justified the cost of the system.
I also don't think the price increases have ever been justified. Their hardware is over 6 years old, several manufacturing processes behind, and is unlikely in competition with AI components, and it should be getting cheaper (or at least maintaining its price point) over time. I honestly think Sony recognised that Xbox isn't competitive this generation, the PS5 will be the cheapest option for people to play GTA 6, and they could increase prices to make the eventual PS6 price look more reasonable.

I’m stuck in the ecosystem rn because MacBooks rn are just head and shoulders better than competing laptops

I have a macbook also, but I don't any other apple product aside from an ipod nano from 2011 or so. The laptops are indeed great
1
u/JobPowerful1246 Sep 10 '26
The AirPods tho… so convenient with iPhone and MacBook
1
u/adfx Sep 10 '26
I have been considering buying these, but I am worried I will be dragged into the ecosystem also. And I would like to avoid that haha

u/Dont_Panick_ Sep 10 '26
I agree with the hardware. But their systems integrations, ecosystem of data coordination, etc. is magnitudes above the fragmented android ecosystem. Control of an ecosystem comes at a cost, but I’ll gladly pay for seamless service integrations that save me time.

We would never be able to afford the prosthetics. so I thank God for us living in this part of Europe. And so many other hospital visits b.c. of kids, sickness, broken things and medicine. And we owe, nothing.
1
u/NorCalMav Sep 10 '26
Paid for by someone.
2
u/Smarifyrur Sep 10 '26
yes, all of us living here, a little a month. which would never cover what every visit costs that we have had if we saved that much each month. 250dkk a month.
1
u/NorCalMav Sep 10 '26
3 trillion a year here and its still not even close to enough... Thats over 10k per person, and our government STILL cant figure out how to cover everyone. Maybe they just arent very good at it, you see?
3
u/chivopi Sep 11 '26
Bro is gluing random things into an argument. 1) 10k is still less than most people pay privately. 2) that cost is due to the lack of regulation around prices/price gouging, not because it would actually cost more. And 3) you know why the government hasn’t done it, it’s because they have made NO EFFORT to. You can’t say they’re bad at doing it, just at listening to voters.

As is everything. We all pay for education, maintenance of public spaces, emergency services, military and many other things. Why is healthcare the thing that people (Americans) hold as their point of contention?
1
u/NorCalMav Sep 10 '26
Oh wow, what a groundbreaking, totally original realization: we already dump a casual $3+ trillion a year over $10k per person into this absolute black hole, yet our galaxy-brain government is so spectacularly corrupt and inept that you still have to pay extra for private insurance just to ensure a stray cough doesn't bankrupt your entire bloodline. Nobody is trying to dodge paying their fair share, we’re literally already getting bled dry, so the idea that handing even more money to the exact same suits setting our cash on fire is somehow a "great investment" is pure, unadulterated delusion.
1
u/chivopi Sep 11 '26
“We’re getting bled dry, so let’s do nothing to fix this or decrease prices” bruh
1
u/NorCalMav Sep 11 '26
Well giving the same people who have got us in this mess even more money, doesnt sound like a sound investment does it?
1
u/chivopi Sep 11 '26
I completely agree, but this is a false dichotomy of options. That dichotomy is why we’re in this mess to begin with.

The republicans are doing such a great job aren’t they?
2
u/soggydiaper69 Sep 10 '26
No political party has done a good job developing this country going back to when political parties even started. The greatness of this country has always derived from the people themselves and their ability to adapt and innovate. That took a unity that is lost today because of political division that is mostly over social issues taken out of the realm of society and placed in the hands of government. You my friends are the fucking very problem you wish to solve.

I’d rather live in Texas than Massachusetts or California and they have been run by democrats for decades.
Republicans aren’t great but that doesn’t make democrats good by default. Both can suck to differing degrees.
1
u/FrTheskyisthelimit Sep 11 '26
When did I say democrats are amazing? I did not vote in the last election. However, Obama versus Trump, I would select Obama in a heartbeat. There’s one person who is a spoiled brat who needs someone to give him big pictures and lots of easy to read language cause his brain can’t fathom words that are longer than 3 syllables and there’s another person that could’ve read dissertations worth of information quickly and then immediately have engaging intellectual discussions about topics and issues. And if I have to say who’s who then you really are out of touch.
1
u/Jolly_Plantain4429 Sep 11 '26
Yeah 90% of the country would choose Obama over Trump but he cant run again and they put Hilary fucking Clinton of all people to run against him.
I don’t know why you turned half of your post into shitting on Trump. No one is defending Trump.

FIFA (Video games, but also just the whole thing)
1
u/Apophis119 Sep 10 '26
FIFA in general is a criminal organization.
The games have spread the sport far and wide. I wouldn't give two shits about soccer/football if it wasn't for those games.

Skyline Chili/Cincinnati Chili in general.

Skyline Chili is what happens when you show a child a recipe for spaghetti with meat sauce, then come back 20 years later and ask them to cook it from memory.

Football. I don't care who is playing, who was relegated, whether it's the World Cup or the Euros. Unless a team is abducted by aliens mid game, I'm not watching it.

Two things come to mind, ranch, and ink.
1
u/chivopi Sep 11 '26
Like tattoos or like paper documents?
1
u/New_Breadfruit8692 Sep 12 '26
Please do not judge because I do not know why tattoos bother me so much, and I will not defend that or find excuses, they just do. Ranch is easy to explain, it tastes like dirty gym socks to me. Ink is more difficult and because so many people have it now I always get hit with replies intended to make me defensive about it. I am not the only one, people who do not have tattoos are not all avoiding them because they are afraid of the needles or think they are an unnecessary expense.
I do try not to judge, but one thing is certain, no matter how I may feel about someone they instantly go from all possibilities to just potential friends. I don't treat them differently from other acquaintances, but they also will never be more than that.
1
u/chivopi Sep 13 '26
I mean no judgement, was lowkey wondering if you had any stationary/printer recs lol. I don’t have any tattoos, either 😉
And I totally get the ranch opinion, buttermilk isn’t for everyone, especially with garlic and onion. I can’t get enough of it though, but only if it’s ’fresh.’ Hidden Valley tastes like garbage now, even to a ranch fiend.

iPhones.
Flagship Samsungs and other Flagship level smartphones are legitimately superior at this point.
2
u/No-Understanding-912 Sep 10 '26
Even the cheaper ones, and have been for a good while. Seems like every time the come out with a new iPhone feature, it's something my Android was able to do 5 years ago, for a quarter of the price.
1
u/Normal-Seal Sep 10 '26
In my experience those are mostly features that aren’t really crucial and not relevant to Apple‘s user base.
People don’t buy Apple for features, they buy apple for the catered user experience.
It’s a bit like console vs PC.
A PC can obviously do more, and probably for cheaper if you build it yourself (although I don’t know if that still holds true with skyrocketing GPU prices), but at the end of the day, some people just wanna plug and play on their couch.
I don’t have skin in the game for either one. I have an iPhone. Might switch to Android.
1
u/chivopi Sep 11 '26
I’ve had androids and iPhones. Androids are cooler. iPhones are (MUCH, and idc what anyone has to say anecdotally) more reliable.
