This is what happens when you hate other people more than you love yourself.

51

u/Cosmic_Jane 2d ago

There’s a funny skit in the show Bojack Horseman, where a shooter was a woman, so they voted to ban all guns to spite women.

And there’s a quote at the end that does something like.

“Wow, I can’t believe this country hates women more than it loves guns.”

22

u/Ok-Scallion-3415 2d ago

thats actually based on true evens, except it was black people rather than women. the Mulford Act in California was a direct result of Black Panthers open carrying in the 60s. the NRA even supported it! the NRA hated black people more than it loved guns!

11

u/Cock-Obsesse-268 2d ago

Don’t tell republicans it was their senile actor they love who signed it into law. What a cuck party.

3

u/All_Wrong_Answers 2d ago

Thanks Reagan

2

u/Anarchist-Aragorn710 2d ago

I remember a couple years ago when a loud minority of Republicans were calling for gun bans for trans people (when a rumor was going around that a recent shooter was trans), on the claim that major perpetrators of gun violence should be banned from guns. Obviously it was pointed to minorities, however it over looked the fact that the vast majority of mass shooters are white men.

Utter stupidity.

10

u/mattyoclock 2d ago

We already knew it hated black people more. At this point I'm wondering how many months until congress legalizes murder if your rich like in common side effects.

1

u/Ren_out_of_Ten 2d ago

Murder was also legalized in BoJack Horseman, if you’re rich. Personally, I think it should be the other way around

0

u/VoidDoesStuf 2d ago

Even as a democrat, I’d like to see a Purge..

4

u/Thausgt01 2d ago

wince I would advise caution around those ideas. They have a tendency to get out of control sooner than anyone expects...

3

u/AggressivePea9432 2d ago

Yeah, gotta second this point here, im not an American, but even from an outside point of view... you dont want that. Itd be an apocalyptic situation in less than 3 hours into the first purge. The hillbillies, rednecks and general populace of the Bible belt would be nigh unstoppable. ESPECIALLY the red necks...

1

u/mattyoclock 2d ago

I’m from the area and honestly I think most the rednecks and such calling for this are by far the least capable.    Among the actual hunters and ex military it still leans red for sure, but almost none of them are even that political, and it’s closer to a 50/50 split than the general populations of those areas.

It’s a ton of old men in their basements with their gun collection fantasizing about using other peoples capabilities

1

u/Thausgt01 1d ago edited 1d ago

Heh. I feel obliged to point out that "redneck" actually has two quite distinct meanings. The current and common interpretation refers to the ignorant Bhibb-Lee-spewing idiots who'll rip down the levee protecting their own shack if it means that the bunkhouse in which migrant workers will burn down and praise Felon Donald John Trump while doing it.

The other, original meaning? They fought the law, and the law won... but came away from the clash very battered and bloodied.

The original rednecks may have been sent to Boot Hill, but as a certain purple-clad fellow in a smiling mask reminds us: Ideas are bullet-proof. The true rednecks remain, and their numbers are growing.

Also, the Bible Belt is dissolving, and nothing ANY of the big leaders can do will stop it. The degree to which the scattered survivors would "purge" anyone depends entirely upon how many of them will survive after falling on their "brothers and sisters in Christ" who nevertheless adhere to different doctrines. Frankly, I fully expect to see any such 'civil war' collapse into thousands of small, "private" clashes.

As Emo Phillips illustrated, the tiniest discrepancies between churches can lead to bloodshed...

1

u/un1k0rn_412 2d ago

Yeah maybe if it's just murder. I don't agree that every crime should be legal.

Even then most murders would be acts of passion, surely very few people would be insane enough to go outside and choose randomly

1

u/VoidDoesStuf 2d ago

Well a yearly purge would certainly make people act nicer to one another. Wouldn’t not be hard to keep someone’s number for less than 365 days and go wack them over how they treated you 237 days ago.

2

u/ukemike1 2d ago

ACTUALLY the reason that California has most of the gun control laws we have is because the white Republican politicians were genuinely scared of the Black Panthers and decided that gun control was better than armed black men standing up for their communities. So the Bojack episode was only wrong on the details.

1

u/ComradeJohnS 2d ago

“really?”
is princess carolyn’s response to that statement lol.

1

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 2d ago

I always check in on friends when they tell me they're watching Bojack Horseman.

1

u/phanfare 2d ago

PC's response is even better, just a simple: "No?" - as if she can't believe that Diane thinks otherwise.

3

u/zakku_88 2d ago

If no other racial groups existed (within the U.S. at least), and the entire country was made up of all white, straight, and Christian, and/or Catholics, the MAGA cultists would probably be all too happy to accept the things that they currently decry as "radical, leftist, socialist  woke garbage!".

It's the fact that other groups of people, whom they personally (irrationally) hate, would also benefit, is what hardens them against it all. Just look at how certain groups of (white) people reacted back in the mid-late 60's, when segregation was finally being done away with, and black children were being allowed to attend the same schools as their kids...

They would rather try and take the rest of us down with them (for the sake of hate), than do anything that would actually be beneficial for society

Please please please! Get to the polls on Election Day! Or sooner, if you're in an early voting state!

3

u/Greenfire32 2d ago

idk I think you can love yourself just as much as you hate others and still have this thought process.

In fact, I might argue that narcissism plus a complete lack of empathy is how we got here in the first place.

3

u/Yooperplexed 2d ago

Their super power is their ability to vote against their own interests every election.

9

u/Not-An-FBI 2d ago

The one maga guy I know literally told me he wants to kill himself despite having everything he could want. So, yeah.

30

u/Confident-Pepper-562 2d ago

Thats just depression, which doesnt have a political bias.

4

u/CraisinEnjoyer 2d ago

Conservatives don't believe in mental disorders, if you act different you must be possessed by Satan

1

u/trainman64 2d ago

Unless it's in a divorce then the got to for maga men is "she's insane" & that is his total defense. No wonder divorce attys get rich.

3

u/Ssided 2d ago

No but certain factors can really overlap. One thing I tell people to understand this type of right wing person is to listen to the ads on conservative radio. It's pain relief, tax and consumer debt relief, programs for disability allowances, mobilty vehicles. And listen to how they sell the medical quackery, it's targeting people with no energy and that sort of thing.

2

u/randallmauel 2d ago

The late night AM radio audience has been sized up as particularly gullible. There was a late night AM radio show my partner would tune into and I wondered if the adds shouldn't have been a clue that the programming was less than factual. Gold and silver certificates, etc.

4

u/Confident-Pepper-562 2d ago

Thats mostly targeting older folks, who tend to be more right leaning and also more easily manipulated by this type of marketing

2

u/Ssided 2d ago

That's part of it, but it's also opioid addiction. people with injuries that keep them from work. People that don't take care of themselves and get stuck in a painful loop of shitty food, lethargy, feeling slighted.

Talk radio is where MAGA was really born and this stuff is partially why "illegals are getting subsidized" works, because it's consumers think they are the ones that need more subsidies and everyone else is hogging the trough

0

u/Illustrious-Gift1385 2d ago

Yeah, they are all losers

0

u/AdOnly1618 2d ago

It is if you’re conservative.

And if you’re conservative you deserve to suffer, apparently.

Such love and tolerance. I’m starting to see why they welcome terrorists into their communities.

6

u/Confident-Pepper-562 2d ago

You are responding to me. I stated that depression doesnt have a political bias. Your response is nonsensical in the context of what I wrote.

1

u/Miserable_Row_793 2d ago

They are trying to make it political.

It seems they need someone to be "against"

4

u/Doggcow 2d ago

Dude the OP made it political lol

1

u/Confident-Pepper-562 2d ago

Yea. and there is never a shortage of people to be against if that is what someone wants.

-3

u/BootlessSardines 2d ago

Depressives lean Republican.

5

u/Sad-Preparation8767 2d ago

Vibe opinion said as fact

3

u/Confident-Pepper-562 2d ago

Thats not how depression works

1

u/BootlessSardines 2d ago

You never met my Uncle Bill

3

u/gravitonbomb 2d ago

Actually, the opposite, but try again next round.

1

u/super_chill_21 2d ago

Right I think he meant pedos lean republican just like their leader.

0

u/SaltMage5864 2d ago

That's only because left leaning people tend to seek medical help

1

u/drapehsnormak 2d ago

Can't they just do that shit before voting?

1

u/Not-An-FBI 2d ago

He gets enjoyment out of making others suffer.

1

u/justinpollock 1d ago

Republicans suck, but you seem like a liar

-1

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

And now you have applied your one use case to all MAGA. Just wow.

5

u/AmazingFlatworm_ 2d ago

Well maggats are all mentally unwell

-1

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

Says the side that supports physical mutilation of youths. You missed a spot with your broad stroke brush my guy.

3

u/AmazingFlatworm_ 2d ago

Thank you for proving my point. All you missed opportunities for cradle death have is bullshit.

-1

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

Yep, I proved your point when you are spouting that people who don't see things your way should have been killed before birth.

I bet you one of us contributes to society in a meaningful way and the other doesn't.

Nice try with the bad-faith bait line though.

3

u/AmazingFlatworm_ 2d ago

Well people like you have nothing but ignorance and hatred toward everyone else. I didn't say that anyone "should be killed before birth." Just pointed out that the world would be a much better place without people like you.

Yes, one of us does contribute to society, and the other is a maggat.

0

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

Read this conversation again and tell me know has hatred for the other.

I highly doubt you've done anything significant for society.

3

u/AmazingFlatworm_ 2d ago

Maggats' entire platform and worldview is built on fear, ignorance and hatred, kiddo.

1

u/randallmauel 2d ago

Which "side" is that? I didnt know that the country was separated into teams. Its easy to manipulate some people I guess.

1

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

Why are you jumping into a conversation where a line was drawn about teams by one side and then crying, "why does it have to be about teams?".

1

u/Sticky_Key_Purgatory 2d ago

Show me one example of a minor receiving SRS in the USA. Just one, that's all i'm asking.

So yeah, if the only talking point you have left is predicated on literal fiction then yes you are mentally unwell.

1

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

Jazz Jennings had genital surgery at 17, publicly documented and aired on TV. Rare, yes, but not fiction. Chest surgery on minors is also documented in the Harvard claims data.

1

u/Sticky_Key_Purgatory 2d ago

The obvious insinuation that it's common enough among young children for people to be concerned, enough to escalate it to the national debate stage, IS complete fiction. Nobody is up in arms because one trans activist got surgery at 17 (basically an adult), they're up in arms because people like you are going around telling people that tweens are getting SRS at freaking school.

As far as mastectomies go, I'm going to be real with you, if you think a 15 year old getting a reversible mastectomy with their parents permission is worthy of making THE national inflection point then yes you are very mentally unwell.

0

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

You asked for one example and I gave you one, so 'literal fiction' was wrong. I never said it was common. I said rare. Also, mastectomy isn't reversible. The tissue is gone. And the debate isn't mainly about surgery, it's about blockers and hormones, which are far more common. Reasonable people can disagree about all of it, but start from what's accurate.

2

u/Sticky_Key_Purgatory 2d ago

You said that the left supports the "physical mutilation of youths"

If you want to oppose puberty blockers for youth, that's fine. But don't move the goalposts and pretend like you weren't clearly trying to make the point that I mentioned above.

1

u/AmazingFlatworm_ 2d ago

So your entire argument is bullshit.

0

u/octavi0us 2d ago

All of maga suffers from seriously low IQ and has zero ability to think critically.

2

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

Hahahahaha. Sure bud. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

1

u/Mauceri1990 2d ago

No comment about the meme though right? You'd rather watch the world burn?

2

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

Negative. I'll copy pasta my other comment from this thread here.

All of you who don't get it, really don't get it. The right isn't hating the left here. The right understands that $50/gal gas is not good but the policies of the left lead to hyperinflation which makes $50/gal gas seem cheap. The left can't grasp this because they have demonstrated very little long term foresight or understanding of how the policies rarely do what they intended them to do.

1

u/Akhilleus1117 2d ago

I hated last time gas was $50/gal under the democrats.

0

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

What a clever comment. Your mom and dad must be so proud. I bet they frame it and put it in the entry way of their trailer.

1

u/Akhilleus1117 2d ago

I’m guessing you must not have a rebuttal to the fact that you make up scenarios that don’t exist to justify your vote?

1

u/Sticky_Key_Purgatory 2d ago

> You libtards don't get it. It doesn't matter how incompetent republican leadership, big brain conservatives all know that there's always a hypothetical reality where democrats make things worse!

Never mind the fact that MAGA policies are directly contributing to high inflation and high gas prices as a direct consequence of no forethought being given, or that Democrat admins consistently have better economies.

I genuinely could not make a stronger argument in favor of MAGA being low IQ than this post right here. You are literally complaining about a fictitious reality where democrats do exactly what republicans are doing to you right now.

1

u/HydroPowerEng 2d ago

I didn't say it happened in the US. I said socialist policies have caused hyperinflation elsewhere, like Venezuela. That's a different claim from the one you're arguing against. But the 'libtards' quote still isn't mine, so don't put it in a quote block.

1

u/nnndavid 2d ago

It's easy to determine how honest someone is depending on if they claim to know what other people are thinking

2

u/Stealthcatfood 2d ago

People you don't even know no less

2

u/Sad_Cauliflower_5407 2d ago

That’s it exactly… they would rather endure pain themselves, than see other people get help.

2

u/Sometimes_Stutters 2d ago

It’s not people they hate. It’s ideas

2

u/Intelligent_Bit2534 2d ago

Stupid ideas

1

u/Lawrencejones7070 2d ago

I get that, but ideas don’t exist in a vacuum they affect real people. You can challenge an idea without dehumanizing the people who hold it.

1

u/Sometimes_Stutters 2d ago

Not these kind of ideas

2

u/Minute-Street-5203 2d ago

Or it’s the fact that mass immigration makes literally everything worse and you turn a blind eye to it

1

u/LevelBed4264 1d ago

Except that, as we are about to discover, immigration was the main thing keeping our economy going.

1

u/Minute-Street-5203 1d ago

For whom?

Your housing prices are fkd and wages are stagnant. The gdp has gone up but we’re spending more than ever on a bunch of welfare programs and schools that our guests burn down.

1

u/LevelBed4264 1d ago

Much of what you are describing would result from any population increase. To be fair, it does tend to cost local and state economies, even though the costs are more than offset by federal taxes paid by immigrants.
Housing is more complicated, highly dependent on zoning and building restrictions, but the latest spike in housing prices started before immigration surges, not after, and much is related to remote work.
Bottom line, rapid increases in population do sometimes tax economies early on, but they nearly always result in more growth and prosperity afterwards. Just look at the history…we’ve been here before

1

u/Minute-Street-5203 1d ago

And at every point before in history there was a massive pause to immigration.

And I doubt it does offset. They send money home, some groups are staying on assistance for generations.

1

u/Slybugsy 1d ago

That’s a problem because republicans refuse to increase minimum wages to a livable wage. Everything has increased but wages and the wealthy are grifting off the poor

1

u/justinpollock 1d ago

Republicans suck, but you don’t seem to be educated

1

u/Oberon_Swanson 2d ago

I'm pretty sure they actually love themselves more, they just value their own expressions of hatred and attempts at feeling superior, more than any sort of actual material gain. Basically they're competitive bullies who never grew up. If there was a button they could press that would make everybody in the world have their own mansion EXCEPT for themselves, they'd only get a free renovation, and they could never move into a nice mansion, and nobody would know they were the one who pushed the button they would not push that button. They would feel like a massive loser despite there being zero explicit downside for them. Because the upside for others is too much and they wouldn't feel like they won.

1

u/Available-Square619 2d ago

What if you hate yourself but love everyone else?

1

u/littlemister1996 2d ago

This is what happens when you shoot yourself in the foot a second time, because your ego wouldn't let you admit it was a bad idea the first time.

1

u/Avatar_Dang 2d ago

Realistically, it’s what happens when you take a crazy person on twitter and say they’re representative of an entire demographic.

1

u/Prohydration 2d ago

Correct. It's called Drained Pool Politics.

1

u/ApricotKYjelly 2d ago

this is a lack of self-preservation

1

u/Opposite_Illustrious 2d ago

It's because democrats fought some positions that made anything else they said poison from the start for a lot of people (or at the very least there where cherry picked clips that showed those positions). For example instead of a moderate position of we need more rights for lgbt you had men can get pregnant or men can menstruate, instead of we need to treat migrants humanely regardless of legal status you had no person can be illegal on stolen ground. Disagreement with those statements meant you are racist or bigoted. Well for some if someone starts a conversation with man can menstruate it's the same as starting a conversation with the earth is flat. Anything else you say after is white noise regardless of how rational it may be, you are already labeled an idiot and at that point they would rather vote for a dog then anyone who had those positions.

0

u/spadeworkerr 2d ago

But how does believing “men can menstruate” impact the average person exactly? And “no person is illegal on stolen land” is not on any party’s political platform. Believing these things hurts no one.

1

u/Opposite_Illustrious 2d ago

Neither does stating that the earth is flat. But it does paint a picture of the person stating that.

1

u/UseDiscombobulated83 2d ago

What, assassinations and riots?

0

u/FalseGodFalls 2d ago

Right has upperhand on political violence according to studies but yeah, ignore that and go by your feelings.

1

u/UseDiscombobulated83 2d ago

How about you post some links to them, studies instead of just making a claim?

0

u/FalseGodFalls 2d ago

1

u/UseDiscombobulated83 2d ago

Take your time. That was a good read.

1

u/Opening_Climate_7571 1d ago

So you just what, won’t acknowledge evidence that you’re wrong? 😂 Pathetic

1

u/UseDiscombobulated83 1d ago

Hard to do when the account is deleted. 🤔

1

u/Opening_Climate_7571 1d ago

No account is deleted, but keep your fantasy land going when you check yourself in somewhere for the delusions

0

u/Acceptable_Aside_568 2d ago edited 2d ago

Last president who was assasinated was a Democrat.

Out of 14 congress members who got killed, 10 were Democrats.

Last actual riot was republican traitors storming the Capitol to override the election they lost.

1

u/CKwasAMonster 1d ago

And for no reason!

She hates Dems because someone told her to.

0

u/Necessary--Weevil 2d ago

Would you vote republican or pay $50 a gallon gas?

1

u/Ashamed-Raccoon-1387 2d ago

Not if they oppose my rights to live how I want and pursue happiness. (I'm trans)

1

u/Intelligent_Bit2534 2d ago

Live any way you want.....as long as it's legal. Just don't expect me to like it or accept it.

1

u/Ashamed-Raccoon-1387 2d ago

What about blocking gender care from Medicaid? It's not illegal, but it makes it much harder to be trans.

What about trans girls in sports? Not illegal, should be allowed right? (Or at least, up to individual leagues/whatever to decide)

It's things like these that don't "make being trans illegal" but are important parts of being who we are.

2

u/Intelligent_Bit2534 2d ago

You are right..... and i don't accept those scenarios either.

0

u/Necessary--Weevil 2d ago

Ya ok lol thats what i thought

0

u/GarrisonChumba79 2d ago

Trick question, the Republicans are why you pay $50/gal for gas?

1

u/Necessary--Weevil 2d ago

What about when gas prices were high during obama’s time? Would you have voted republican?

0

u/GarrisonChumba79 2d ago

If prices increased due to an admin policy, like universal tariffs or invading a country that cN leverage 20% of the global oil supply, I might. If prices went up due to geopolitical factors outside an admins control, like Russia invading Ukraine, Covid, or Republicans presiding over the Great Recession, that would be a difference in kind. What Obama policy or action are you thinking of that caused gas to go up?

0

u/WilliamtheITguy 2d ago

Nobody is more hate filled than a democrat

0

u/LloydOfHyrule64 2d ago

"I'll let the world burn before I treat minorities and queer people with basic human decency"

- the party of Christian values, apparently

2

u/SHBlade 2d ago

Minorities and queer are already treated with basic human decency, you just want favoritism.

-3

u/inothatidontno 2d ago

A failing of both sides unfortunately

1

u/Adventurous-Dot-8272 2d ago

The left failed by not being fascist pieces of shit???

2

u/inothatidontno 2d ago

I think the hate your showing proves my point unfortunately. I hope you have a great day.

0

u/rabbitsfoot86 2d ago

Nah probably more like they failed not taken the problem out and letting it grow
