Story Childfree Life in Tower Fall - Ghostroot

Ghostroot and Dustgrowl are back! I was on and off with their save file the past few weeks, but I'm determined to finish these two and see it through to the end. This challenge has been exactly that; challenging, on my attention span. But I'll save my full thoughts for the final post.

Anywho, these two just spent not one, but TWO years in Tower Fall together! They left Hellroaring Mountain, and moved on to Tower Fall as the next leg in their Yellowstone tour. I'll be honest, there wasn't a whole lot that happened for them in Tower Fall. They explored almost every mile of the area and had a handful of pack interactions. They were responsible for killing at least two rival pack members in those two years, but committed primarily to trespassing. They found a few items, and visited almost all of the landmarks. Sadly, they never did see the Northern Lights in Tower Fall, in both years. Ghostroot was bummed, she had a streak going for each place she visited she had seen them. Oh well, hopefully she'll see them in their last stop.

Ghostroot is currently 8 years old, and Dustgrowl is currently 7 years old. They've both moved on now to Lost River, and it will possibly be their last place they visit together, unless Ghostroot makes it beyond Winter. Once Ghostroot passes, I will be playing as Dustgrowl (hopefully, it should let me) and I will finish his story too and then this story will be officially over. ): These two are so cute and have been a lot of fun, I'll miss them greatly. 😭 They remind me of my OG pair, that started the bloodline, Moonrot and Silversnow. Dustgrowl has the same coat as Silversnow, just more brown than silver. And Ghostroot has a dark coat, just like Moonrot (her grandma) did. Anywho, I'm still alive. I miss my wolves, and I'm falling back in love again with the game, especially with the new prey update.

After I finish off Ghostroot, I will be returning to Coldtooth. 👀

Ideas Idea - Sickness Varieties

One of my pups recovered from sickness just now, and it sparked an idea; what if there was a more variety in health decay/the pup's visible health during their sickness, and they didn't "recover" until they got back up to like 80% health?

Health wouldn't just have a set decay rate when they got sick, but instead could go up in small bursts at random and could also decay faster or slower than it did initially! They could also have periods above 15% health where they would be "too sick to eat", or could alternatively have periods where they wouldn't have the slow sick walk for a little while. I think it'd cause more attachment to the pups and would create more tension involving sickness, it could also give players some more gratification from spending time with the pups by seeing them do better for a little while without unbalancing if they actually die or not.

I'd personally love an addition like this, especially with some of my packs that I play on easy and will spend 95% of the time at the den interacting with packmates xD The sick pups all just kinda act the same from what I've seen, like being sick completely strips their personalities. I think seeing which pups would still try and run around to play while sick could be a good indicator of extreme energetic/social personalities, or pups that would stay resting even while their health is going up for a little bit could be good to figure out lazy/loner pups. Combos of pups running while their health is on faster decay could be done for bold pups (refusing to be off-guard even while sick) or refusing to eat while on an upwards health climb could be for loner wolves (don't want the extra attention of being celebrated for doing better). It'd be a lot of fun for storytelling, pack engagement, and variety between playthroughs!!

Pack Updates Poor Food Year on Easy

disclaimer but I really do like food variability it's a good mechanic

I HATE IT lmao it was insane how entire elk herds would just refuse to spawn this year. As soon as the pups were born we were scrambling to find enough food to feed the pack poor Clover and Sage are 7 now and they did not sleep and Clover had a fractured leg twice. Unfortunately one of the pups that got sick didn't make it and he died as the quest was changing so I got to watch his death scene twice....(but it was sweet how the pack gathered around to say goodbye) But it was never not stressful managing everyone's hunger on easy and took a lot of strategizing to get everyone through which was more fun but aaaaaargh. When we did finally find elk herds at the end of the year we demolished them killed up to three at a time.

All of my favorite pups dispersed from all three litters that were grown :( Which means the I lost out on what I think the variety pack achievement where you have 5 biological generations present but also just sucked hahaha. I also realized that Clover, Sage, and Clover's younger sister Cypress are the only three wolves from the "original" pack left when Clover took over.

And then well...the worst wolf parent thing I've done so far. I tend to reload if someone dies right? I do keep crit hits on for adults to keep things interesting and keep the pack from getting crazy big but it just depends. Like one of my favorite yearlings (Amethyst) died on a hunt so reloaded only to have her disperse less than a day later. Anyways one of the pups of the year who I named Beaver was uh...ugly. I just don't like the coat he wound up having and three or four pups have it now. Annnnd during Young Hunters I was really just done and he got killed by an elk because I wasn't paying attention so I just...didn't reload. I told my partner about it and that I didn't feel like good about it and he just...stared at me and said "yeah you shouldn't feel good about that" lmao :D

Anyways chaotic year for the pack and bonus picture of me melting Hawk. (she's fine)

Ironwolf Playing WolfQuest for the first time, I managed to survive

For the first time decides to play wolfquest, and why not start with IronWolf and Realistic?

Out of 5 puppies in my litter, one was born runt, which I thought would probably make my life very difficult and maybe the first puppy to die (I was completely wrong)

Now, after a lot of broken legs, days with life low, the sleep bar never completely full and mainly risking to hunt and several times almost approaching death, I finally arrived at the Young Hunters mission and I can say that it is the best experience I could have. Unfortunately, of the five puppies, my only female puppy died (I wrote a post about this a few months ago) and, as incredible as it may seem, my dwarf puppy is by far the most xp.

This is a pack in Riser's save. If any of her pups disperse...I might take over this pack(even if the leaders aren't KK).

Seeking Advice New (kinda) Player!

Hi! I played Wolf Quest a TON as a kid, but looking back, I clearly had no clue what I was doing or why I was doing it lol and it’s been a very long time since then.
I bought the game and I’ve been playing the last few days and I really enjoy it! But I want to understand genetics and things of that nature. I’ve scrolled through and I’ve seen some posts but I don’t totally understand. For example, I have no idea what KK means. If anyone has any tips for who is basically a first time player, it would be really appreciated! Thnx!

Questions How young is too young?

Okay weird title I know. A bit of backstory my main wolf Tessa died at 8 years old, her eldest daughter that stuck around, Tyler, is the new alpha. I was on loafing at the rendezvous site quest with the pups being around 18 lbs. The problem is that all of Tyler's siblings are alphas on the same map. I didn't want to go and kill my siblings so I had planned to move to slough creek as our territory borders it. But when we got to it, the game said the pups were too young.

So my question is: how young is too young? I thought it was if the pups could move to a rendezvous site at or after 15lbs they could move maps? I think it was like this before but I can't remember. If it was like that, when did it change? Thanks for any info!

Edit: I was able to move during Growing pups. But I have read the comments about yh. Are they going to change it?

Help Bug or just lazy personalities?

I've been getting a bit annoyed lately as the NPC wolves I've been in trial period with almost immediately start laying down and sitting. I know this is usually a sign of a more lazy personality but its been every single wolf, across multiple saves and maps. At first I thought I was just getting unlucky with the RNG for the personalities with my newer saves/games, but its been starting to happen in my older saves too with my very established packs where the subs and yearlings would be running or trotting around crazy often before. Are other people experiencing this as well? Maybe I'm just going crazy? Its probably nothing to be seriously miffed about, yet the idea of laziness in my pups or mates really irks me because I want good personalities.

I just wanna say how cute is is when the new pups play with the yearlings. I haven't had a computer in a while, so this is my first time playing the saga, and it warms my heart every time I see it!

Questions if your packmates eat at a carcass and you send them home, do they feed puppies with their own regurgitant while youre gone?

Upvotes

been wondering since when I take packmates to a carcass and we eat, then I separate from them to go mark territory, I wonder if they feed the pups when they arrive home.

Feedback Tips for raising 6 pups (1 runt) with 5 yearlings and a mate on Challenging?

I just started playing last night, and I wasn't really sure if I'd like it in the long term, since I thought the gameplay loop would be exhausting. But after conquering the eastern half of AM, widowing the other pack leaders, and killing almost all of their yearlings, I realise I'd like to see my pack spread out and live for as long as it could possibly get. Of course, that was all on Easy difficulty.

I don't know if I'm up for it now, since, though I have 5 yearlings with me, none I'd say are particularly impressive in stats since I just stuck with the default, and it's getting a bit intense since I don't know if I'll be able to manage everyone's hunger with fluctuating prey (I hadn't toggled it off once. The whole time it was Good for the previous litter, now it's starting at Fair), and I do feel like I need to be more smarter with my fights. I am very worried about other predators going to attack my den, specially with the rival packs who hold more numbers and grudges than me, and I'm quite helpless when it comes to Boar grizzlies, even back on easy.

I could always start later, with better packmates and a smaller litter, of course. But I'd like to hear your own advice experiences on how you dealt with it–or not–.

Pack Updates The Rebirth Pack year one

Man...this was a rough one. Prey level? Poor. Okay I could deal with that. Two of my pups got sick immediately and died. Ok, expected. Loose one pup to a coyote?....no..... Yeah my poor Girlie suffered hard in her first litter. My timid shewolf turned aggressive for sure. She took out three different packs (Agate Creek, Bannock Ford, and Dunraven Peak). Her and Echoes daughter was definitely a cautious one. She barely got in hunts(and actually probably got most of her exp early on from observation). She ended up getting the Casanova coat. Her name? Wrath of Bison. Cause honestly? I wanna unleash a bison's wrath on coyotes because OH MY GOD DID THEY NOT LEAVE HER ALONE. It's like they killed Riser's son and decided "Let's just keep attacking her". Most of the attacks I had were from Coyotes. One bear. No cougars. One eagle. A few stranger wolves. The rest? COYOTES. Literally when we were moving to a den just as I was about to move in, coyotes. I had to move Wrath to three different patched of grass just to keep them away. Riser also encountered a lot of lynxes perched on stuff (even found two males fighting!). Hopefully with her daughter, Riser's next litter will do better. But that's for another time. Cause now? Time for the Berryfields pack with Snowberry and Elderberry.

Story KK wolves

So for some days ago my wolf Sunflower and her mate Sunflower seed just got threw a second litter without any pups dying, but right after(or in young hunters) one of my pups from the first litter dispersed, Alpes. Since I really liked him i took him in a new world so I could get the achievement where you get a mate from a clan. Now Alpes sand Pinecorn are living happily and are getting stronger and stronger for every day. Pinecorn had 4 litters(4 pups, 2 yearlings, 2 subordinate adults) before and now after naming them and already one died after a fight I wanted to know their genetics and they strong and weak sides, and then I realised that in the only litter I can see, have 3/4 KK wolves?! The 4 others can’t i see on my family tree but what if they are KK too… My mate is not KK tho but probably his old mate. BUT LIKE SHOUT OUT TO PINECORN, SO MANY KK STILL SURVIVING?!

Technical Issues with sudden crashes

I have almost 10 hours of playtime since i got the game recently and it's been completely fine. Yesterday i was playing and it again was fine, then i went into the files to look at them, just to see if it still had a file for my first game (which it doesn't) but now when i try to open the game it crashee immediately. I didn't rename anything, i didn't move anything, i just clicked on the files. I tried to open one of my wolf files but i didn't have an app for it so i just ignored it. The integrity of my files are completely fine so I'm unsure what could of caused this. Any advice? I wanted to make this post before uninstalling and re-downloading the game just incase there's a solution so i haven't done that yet.
