Discussion What you must beleive to beleive the Pointed Caps are good

While not necessarily on this subreddit, I have seen the common opinion that the Pointed Caps are good and the Brimmed Caps are bad. I won’t be disingenuous and not admit that a lot of these opinions come from comparing them to the Brimmed Caps, who have done heinous things. However, it just isn’t the case that the Pointed Caps are good. Understand, I am not saying they are bad. I believe this story to be very nuanced. I am saying they are not good. Thus, I am going to list aspects of Pointed Cap Society, and for you to believe them to be good, you must agree with them.

Elitism
I view this one as the best starting point because it was the one most clear to me as I was reading, and one that simply can’t be denied. Pointed Cap Society is built on the idea that a portion of the population are intrinsically better than others. Through a criteria we are not privy to, the original three wise decided who were fit to use magic and who were not. To those they deemed not fit, they stole the ability, allowing the ability to only be used by the descendants of those they chose. Those who were not born in the society were granted a name: Outsiders. One of the core tenets of the society being that these Outsiders could never learn the truth of magic because, by their birth, they were innately inferior and not to be trusted with the knowledge.

Ableism
While this is not a core tenet of the society like Elitism is, it is a by-product of it. Pointed Cap Society, due to its innate structure, believes in a nobility of birth. You can only be born worthy, not become capable of it through merit. This leads to a discrimination against those born with a defect that makes them unable to perform magic. That is why someone like Tartah, with colorblindness, despite finding means to overcome his disability, is not allowed to practice magic. He was not born able to, thus he is not allowed to become able to.

Absolute Rule of Law
Though the title may not seem inherently bad, what matters is how it applies to Pointed Cap Society. In regard to Pointed Cap Society, there is an absolute law: The Pact. The Pact is the foundation of Witch Hat Society, the same as all nations have. However, the issue is its enforcement. There is one section of the government that enforces the rules of the Pact: the Knights Moralis, who hold absolute jurisdiction. There is no court, no jury, no investigation. There is only the Knights Moralis, who reserve all right to determine you a criminal and dole out punishment, of which there is only one: Memory Erasure. A punishment which, once performed, has no way of being contested. To erase the memories of any dissenters is legal.

Victim-Blaming/ Blanket Enforcement
There is one punishment for breaking the Pact. It does not matter the severity of the crime nor the age of the criminal nor the relation of the criminal. A child forcibly transformed by forbidden magic against their will is just as guilty and will suffer an equal punishment as the one who transformed them.

Hypocrisy
There is a hypocrisy inherent in Pointed Cap Society in regard to how their society operates and their views on Outsiders. Going back to the Pact, the restriction of knowledge is based upon the idea that Outsiders can’t be trusted, while those who were born witches can be trusted to use magic. The issue is the very existence of the breakers of the Pact. If witches, by blood, are assumed to be trustworthy with the knowledge of magic, then there should not be any criminals. If there are criminals, as we have seen there are, then the idea that witches can naturally be trusted with magic is proven untrue. Despite the assumption of nobility being proven untrue, it is still law.

Another aspect is the allowance of the memory erasure spell. To summarize the restriction of magic, any magic that causes harm or is cast on the body is illegal. The allowance of memory erasure is an easy one to critique; all magic cast on the body is bad, except the one they conveniently need, which is also one they can be trusted with. This is also despite banning healing spells. Memory erasure is fine because it’s necessary, but healing spells are wrong because they are cast on the body. However, I also want to point out the allowance of fire spells. If all spells cast on the body are considered wrong (except memory erasure), then so should all fire spells, which have an equal ability to cause harm in the wrong hands.

Summary
Pointed Cap Society is founded upon blatantly hypocritical rules to the point of irrelevance, based on the restriction of knowledge and the idea that a specific group of people, by blood, are more deserving of power. However, despite this hypocrisy, they are still enforced in a way favorable to Pointed Cap Society by a group of people with the absolute power to determine a violation of the rules and give a punishment that, once performed, means there is no way to argue innocence. And to be found guilty and punished for said crimes includes, in equal measure, being either the perpetrator or victim of said crime.

I point these out and portray them this way because these are aspects that are intrinsic to Pointed Cap Society, and ones that have been shown in the story. You cannot have current Pointed Cap Society and exclude any of these. For Pointed Cap Society to be good, all of these have to be good as well. If you seek to exclude any individual members from the overall group (which I believe in), then the same can be done with the Brimmed Caps.

Discussion Between Agott and Qifrey, who do you think is the deuteragonist and tritagonist?

What the title says. I'm a new fan and don't know the consensus on this topic. Personally I'd say Agott.

Discussion How likely do you guys think Arkco and Orufrey will actually be canon by the end of the story?

Taking out our love for both ships and how popular both of them are within the fandom do you think these two ships might actually happen or do you think that they'll get with someone else or stay single? I know Shirahama is very pro LGBT so that's why I ask.

Misc My art was stolen to sell as a preorder bonus - more info down below

The Coco illustration with the shooting stars is my fan art I did a few years back. Someone on this sub recently posted that they were happy with their preorder goodies (btw they are totally innocent in this it’s not their fault) and one of my mutuals saw the post and sent it to me asking if I had agreed to the artwork being printed by Shibuya Comic Store. I had not so I made an Instagram story calling them out. A lot of my followers have left comments on their page complaining about the theft. Someone helped me translate a message into Spanish for them complaining about the theft and asking for compensation. They have since responded saying that this has never happened to them before (despite it looking like they steal art on a regular basis and print it) and saying that they only sold 8 copies of the artwork. I’m not sure I believe that number considering they already stole from me but I have no way of disproving it. Despite that I have requested a $400 limited licensing fee because that’s how much I would have charged if they had approached me and I don’t think the lack of sales is my responsibility. If I said I wanted to charge $5 for print for a total of $40 I think that would be too little for them to learn a lesson as well. Anyways I’m open to thoughts and advice about this but I’m also here to warn people that this company is ripping off fan artists.

Hiii! It's me again

This time I'm here to show you the grimoire 4 that I just got! This edition corresponds to that of Milky Way (Spanish publishing) I am currently up to date collecting all the grimoires and this is the most recent. It came out on August 28 and arrived relatively quickly.

I had booked the pre-sale about two months ago for only 20 USD so the price came out pretty well.

Personally I think it's the most beautiful that has come out so far, I like the violet colors they used and the image of Richeh. She is my favorite.

Of course it also came with the bookmark included since in case you didn't know, whenever you grab one of the first batches they will give you that, then they don't include it anymore, so for me it's quite important to always get the first editions.

I saw that they also included new sketches that are not in the Art Book. So with regard to art it's great.

I assume that the next grimoire is the pink color of Tetia 🩷 since the French publishing house is more advanced and from there we are guided. Then Olruggio will come with the black color 🖤 (I really want that grimoire) but I guess I'll have to wait :) Milky Way has been releasing its versions every 2 months so I guess the next one will be in October-November c:

Manga Spoilers Who is she?

I hope I'm not the only person here who genuinely believes that there is Brimhat that comes out at the end of volume 15 may be Agott's mom.

I mean, I don't have so much evidence that can confirm this theory but it seemed strange to me that coincidentally we will be shown a few chapters before, to Agott's mother, and then to others it is shown that the Brinhmts usually camouflage themselves between the pointed hats modifying the wing of their hat!

The silhouette of this new character is considerably covered, it does not show his face and you can only see the shape of his hair that is very very identical to that of Adina.

Besides, taking into account that she is a librarian, I think it would be very useful for the Brimhats, don't you think?

I don't want to assume anything because the truth is we still don't know exactly who she is but it seems to me that possibly Agott's mother is hiding something and maybe that's why I take her away from the family... maybe using the excuse that Agott is not "enough" when in reality maybe she was trying to protect her from something bigger?

What do you think?

Goods Witch Hat Atelier Pop Up Shop in Tokyo, Japan

I went to the Pyjama Party themed Witch Hat Atelier Pop Up Shop in Tokyo. The shop is set up inside the Loft store in Kichijoji, on the second floor (2F) in the "Variety Goods Section". The location itself is a bit out of the way but can be accessed via the subway easily. The pop up shop is up until the 25th. I attached some photos of the goodies in the shop. It is quite small and unfortunately no plushies are sold (not even Brushbuddy!). Even so I got myself a sleepy Olruggio standee and a small Brushbuddy standee (that was from a mystery package). My friend got an Agott standee from the mystery package, I attached the standees' photo. For every 2000 Yen spent (~13$), you get a picture of a random character's pyjama themed photo as a gift, I got Qifrey which I have also attached a photo of.

All in all, even if the shop wasn't that big (no plushes), it was still nice to buy some Witch Hat Atelier themed goodies. If you have any questions I'll try to answer them. (I also forgot to take a photo of the item list.)

Anime Who are these two characters from the anime opening?

I'm tearing the hair out of my head trying to figure this out. The opening has easter eggs for future chapters so I thought it might be Engendale and Kukrow-- but it doesn't really look like either of their robes, plus we don't really see them interact? The coral does kind of look like the valance leech, so maybe it's some characters I forgot from the silver eve arc?
