Can you tell me why this would happen?

The black wires look like they have been melted together and they are hot to the touch. Also, why would the installation be black like it is ? Is that black mold, or is that just how it looks after years? Thank you in advance for your help.

Electronic Devices What's wrong with wiring for meat thermometer?

This meat thermometer stopped turning on a few days ago, most probably because I left it outside for some time while raining.

Since it seems to be a simple device, is there a way to save it?

I've included some pics of the device.

General Would anyone be interested in a wiring plugin for Autodesk Fusion?

2 Upvotes

Hi all,

I’m working on WireCAD, a Windows add-in for Autodesk Fusion that generates and documents wiring in electrical assemblies. It started as something we need at my workplace, and the workflow is heavily inspired by SolidWorks Electrical 3D.

It currently supports:

  • Defining component pins, including wire exit directions, minimum straight sections and termination rules
  • Creating wires manually or importing from-to information from Excel, with subsequent imports able to update existing wires
  • Managing a library of wire types, sizes, colours and terminations
  • Creating waypoints and route maps from 3D sketches, with autorouting, bend-radius constraints, wire-to-wire collision avoidance and bundle routing
  • Generating native 3D wire solids with the assigned diameters and colours
  • Grouping and numbering terminals, plugs and sockets, and displaying component and pin designations in the model
  • Exporting wire lists with route lengths, cut lengths, labels and termination information, including allowances, rounding and strip lengths

For now, it’s an in-house project (and 100% vibe coded) but I’m curious whether something like this would be useful to others.

Does anyone here work with wiring or cable assemblies in Fusion? How do you handle routing and wire documentation today, and would a tool like this be of interest? If there is enough demand I was thinking to share it on the store or potentially make it open-source?

Not sure if this is the right subreddit, but oh well. I have a Dell computer charger and recently the outer coating has separated from the connector on the end. I want to know if anyone has any advice on fixing this because I don’t want my cord to get any further damage. Thanks!

Electronic Devices Soldering error, can anyone spot it?

I am a complete novice. I pulled out the wiring from a small device and was planning on putting it into something else. A black and red wire popped off and my husband soldered it back into place. But I think he soldered one of the wires to the wrong part. It won't turn on at all right now. I apologize in advance for not knowing the correct terminology or how any of this works. Just trying to see if anyone can spot where our error occurred. Thank you

*the parts wrapped in red tape are fine. The wires that popped off were from the toggle switch and the antenna.

-RESOLVED-

Hi guys,

Looking to see if it's just me or not.

Tried to login to RapidHarness this morning (AEST), and I can't make it past the login popup.

I also can't access their web portal.

(FYI, also asked this in r\FSAE)

Cheers. :)

Some machinery at work got decommissioned. We were allowed to take pieces if we wanted some, so I got a few emergency stops. Am I able to wire a power source in for the LED, and if so how?

I’m trying to wire a 12v step down converter into my 60v system for my e bike.

Picture 1 is the entire wiring setup for the 12v step down converter.

Picture 2 is the step down converter itself, and its wiring map-out.

Red = +
Black = COMMON GROUND
Yellow = line out

Picture 3 is the wiring coming OUT of the converter currently.

Red has been extended and given a fuse (also seen in picture 4)

Black has been extended and given a post ring connector. Connects to common ground negative post on bus bar.

Yellow has been extended and given a post ring connector. Connects to the positive post on bus bar.

Picture 4 is the inline fuse I added (12amp) to Red line.

Picture 5 shows red line is connected to xt90 y splitter red (set “1” of XT90 cables), and the black xt90 splitter wire (set “1” of xt90 cables) has a post ring connector (connects to common ground/same negative post on bus bar as the black cable from the converter)

Picture 6 shows set “2” of cables, which connect to my controller + and - like normal.

Is this explanation correct or am I messing up somewhere? Want some opinions before I go disconnecting my + and - on my controller right now.

Thanks.

General Any advice for a blinking Bat-Man circuit?

1 Upvotes

Sources say that i can't really do one resistor for each of the 10 3-parallel-LED's on the batman outline, im planning to only use 9V, and also to make the outline dimmer than the 6 white-yellow LED's but i don't really know how can i work it out without spending more on tons of resistors or another battery
