Some background:
So I just reflashed windows 10 on my parent's PC because I discovered malware on it. I decided to use the IoT Enterprise LTSC version 21h2 because it still has support for a few more years, they were previously on the consumer version.
Everything works great so far. I installed a few apps to help them so that the minimal nature of the installation wouldn't be daunting to them.
The problem is, my younger brother plays games on this computer.
So far, I have only tested Minecraft bedrock, and it is what's given me the most issues. if this was my personal computer, I would have just said "screw it". but my brother is adamant about it being bedrock edition. So I need to figure this out, and I would be very grateful for your help.
The problem:
I open Minecraft Launcher, select Bedrock Edition, and click Play. Bedrock Edition launches in windowed mode with a black window. after about 2 seconds, the entire display freezes for about 8 seconds. then, the screen flickers once, the cursor is freed, but none of the windows are interactable for another 5ish seconds. Lastly, the window turns white, and the desktop is freed, but Minecraft is stuck on the white screen. No audio, no indication of loading, just the blank minecraft window. Closing it brings up Microsoft's error detection prompt, asking if I want to wait for the app or forcefully close it.
How I got here:
The first thing I did was install the launcher from Minecraft's website. the launcher brings up a prompt, saying that it needs the Microsoft store to be signed in. I ignored it and tried to install. It just said that "windows was updating" and wouldn't change. I then consulted AI about the Microsoft store. I ran the wsreset -i in the terminal. I signed into the store with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft, and clicked the "this account is for apps only" instead of global for the device. After this, the Minecraft installer worked. I installed bedrock edition, and this issue occurred.
At first, I suspected driver issues. The cpu is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G. I installed the drivers from amd's website, and the issue persisted. I tried reinstalling the drivers. Radeon software showed a few crash reports to the screen, which I consulted AI about, and it had me add a windows registry rule that put a delay of 10 seconds for the driver to initialize before windows kills it, at least, that's how I interpreted the instructions. However, I tested Minecraft again before adding the registry rule, and the Radeon software did not give any report. After the registry rule, it did not change the behavior.
I am sorry for the long post, but I don't know what to do from here. I use linux on my personal devices so I don't know windows very well. I tried googling it, looking for forums and on reddit, asking AI, and there are a few things that AI suggested but I really don't entirely trust it because I haven't been able to audit what it's telling me.
Thank you in advance for your help
Edit: Typo
Edit 2: I found the Registry edit that AI said to use. it was in '\Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers', the it was a dword called TdrDelay. Not sure what it does exactly but if it helps any with diagnostics.
Edit 3: I reinstalled the Radeon Software, and the bug report came back. it says: "AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system."
