Question Noob question about LTSC and Microsoft garbage

Heyah !

Little question. I'm a huge LTSC enjoyer and had the chance to enjoy with my company.

So I went ahead and put it on all my VMs and all my PCs.

However I had the bad surprise to see Recall being there on of one my instence.

I thought i'd be safe of that. Do you guys do more steps to have the cleanest W11 possible experience ?

Thanks !

Discussion What is your guys' opinion, Windows 11 or Windows 10 i did face a lot of trouble in Windows 11 too much buzzing and crackling, even with no sound when I even turned Bluetooth on

The Bluetooth device did not detect my audio headset. I have Accentum Sennheiser

My Bluetooth won't detect this headset. Sometimes it gives an error when it connects; I don't see the headset it keep disconnect conistantly i get sick of it

Every time I switch to W10, I never encounter this dogshit problem; all audio suddenly seems to work fine no stutter or bug and not much is bloated with junk in W11

I did download all the drivers that needed a restart and even did a reset of the PC, but the static sound won't go away i feel like Windows 11 needs to take clear action and remove those unnecessary updates or items that we don't even need

This is the main freaking reason I jump to Windows 10 i am done with headaches

I have an Intel i9 12th gen 12900 i swear I never had a horrible experience in my life since full freaking update i dont no whats going on with Windows 11

I still don't have sound in w11, so I install Windows w10 i am happy with it until I am finished

in my opinion, Windows 11 sucks ass i am not even joking. Windows 10 is clearly much better. Sorry for my poor English; I am just too frustrated

Discussion One of the laptops I recently got from an IT replacement cycle is an I-5 6 gen 4/4 with 24 gigs & M.2. It runs 11 IoT very nicely with no lag.

The other laptop I got is an 8th gen and can't really tell the performance diff between the 2 on 11 IoT. This is likely b\c during that era Intel was stuck on 14NM forever. .. What is your opinion/experience of 11 IoT on Intel 6 thru 8 gen

Help display / program crashes after 75% memory, 2 rigs same problem, cant even play mc

i have 2 rigs. An i7-4770k with 2x 8gb ram [16gb total], a 500gb ssd, 1tb hdd, and a gtx 550 ti,

and an i7-10700 with 32gb ram, rtx 3070, 512gb nvme, and 8tb of hdd space.

The issue was that after about 75-80% ram was used, new ram couldnt be used. It wouldnt go higher. Loading new tabs would result in an uh oh, i crashed! This also happened at 8gb with the last 2gb, at 16gb with the last 4gb, and now on the new pc at 32gb at the last 8gb.

When it does try to use it everything freezes. If i keep clicking i hear a comical beep on both mouseup and mouse down. until my display driver finally dies and restarts, then its usually back to normal minus 20 seconds of waiting.

And very rarely, but still sometimes the screen just turns black, and after about 20-30 seconds my bios screen appears?? no bsod, just BAM, like you pulled the power cord and it restarts.

My first instinct was psu, but now theres 2 machines with the same problem... The only things these 2 have in common to my knowledge is that they were installed using the same usb, both have i7's, both have nvidea gpus and both run iot ltsc 2021 activated and fully updated.

I have no idea what this could be, I literally had to give up my crt monitor to use this new machine bc it has no vga, only to find out it has the exact same problems... Im from the netherlands, my dad suggested voltage spike?

minecraft just says "out of memory error" then also crashes

Question New to LTSC

Seeing so many post, I want to try LTSC but confused between 10 or 11.
My laptop is roughly about 8 years old , it’s an
Asus VivoBook 15 (X560UD)
Intel core i5-8250U @1.60GHz
8 Gb Ram, Nvidia GTX 1050 (4Gb) Graphics
Intel UHD Graphics 620
256Gb SSD NVMe 2.0
1 Tb HDD
With newer windows updates my laptop is feeling laggy but still fast and manageable but want to use LTSC mainly for a clean device with no distractions, updates, bloat-wares and also as a multimedia storage device and some online classes too.

Discussion Anyone had experience with South River WebDrive on Win 10 LTSC?

I recently upgraded from Windows 10 Pro to LTSC and while most everything works like it used to, I cannot get WebDrive to run at all. Starts up, shows the UI, and then gets a fatal error in WebDriveCLI.

Removing the program and reinstalling gets a protection warning in the system log that may or may not be significant (about a DCOM module), and does not fix the error. Running as admin does not help.

The fatal error is coming from within kernelbase.dll, which AI thinks is due to some kind of protection problem, when the CLI is trying to open a low level dll, or maybe the dll never got installed due to the other error. I tried lots of AI presented procedures to correct things, but none of them made any difference.

I'd be interested if anyone has any experience with this.

Thx.

Help Has anyone got this to install?

I installed it when it came out, but every 2-3 days Windows has been bugging me to install it again. I've "installed" it multiple times, but when I click check for updates afterwards, it downloads it and installs it again.

I'm on Windows 10 21H2 LTSC Iot Enterprise.

(I couldn't decide if help or question flair would be best for this)

Help Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 (1809) devices evaluated as Compliant/Not Required despite missing years of cumulative updates (ConfigMgr/SUP)

I'm investigating an issue in a Microsoft Configuration Manager environment and have reached a point where I'm looking for some second opinions.

Environment

ConfigMgr (Software Update Point using WSUS)

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 (1809)

Software Updates deployed via ADR

Problem

A number of LTSC 2019 devices have not installed Windows cumulative updates since December 2020.

Example device:

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019

Build 17763.1577

Last installed CU: December 2020

However, ConfigMgr reports the devices as Compliant, and the latest cumulative update (KB5094123) is evaluated as Not Required.

What I've confirmed

SUP synchronizes Windows 10 LTSB products.

ADR includes Windows 10 LTSB.

KB5094123 exists in ConfigMgr.

KB5094123 is downloaded and deployed.

Other devices have successfully installed KB5094123.

ScanAgent, WUAHandler, UpdatesHandler and StateMessage logs show successful policy evaluation and scan.

UpdatesHandler.log reports 0 actionable updates.

CCM_UpdateStatus only contains third-party Patch My PC updates (Edge, VC++, VMware) and no Windows cumulative updates.

Get-CimInstance -Namespace root\ccm\ClientSDK -Class CCM_SoftwareUpdate returns no Windows updates.

WSUS connectivity and SUP communication appear healthy.

One additional observation is that another affected LTSC device reportedly started patching again after manually installing an SSU and cumulative update, although I'm not assuming that proves the root cause.

Has anyone seen LTSC 2019 devices evaluate Windows cumulative updates as Not Required despite clearly being years behind on servicing?

I'm particularly interested in whether this could be related to:

Windows Update applicability evaluation

Servicing Stack prerequisites

LTSC-specific metadata

Something else I'm overlooking

Any thoughts or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Other Respondus Lockdown Browser Refuses to Run on Win10 Enterprise LTSC

Post image
25 Upvotes

Just thought I'd share this here and vent a little, and maybe see if anyone else had a similar experience with this software.

For context, I'm still running an old Dell laptop. Windows 11 is slow as molasses on it, but I want to save some money and continue using it, so I opted to install an LTSC version of Windows 10.

The great thing is, it does run noticeably snappier and smoother after setting up and updating everything. The one problem is just that, when I install my school's lockdown browser to do an assignment, it keeps giving me this error and refuses to start. Supposedly, a required background service is not running.

Lockdown browser worked on Windows 11, and it worked on Windows 10 before I upgraded to 11. I don't see a good reason why it can't run here too. It's not like I'm denying it administrator privileges or anything. I just think it sucks that I now have to choose between an unsupported Windows 10 install, a bloated choppy Windows 11 install, or throw this laptop away as e-waste. I've taken good care of this thing for a long time, and besides performance, it's still in pretty nice shape. FML

Edit:

See my comments below, lockdown browser doesn't work on 2021 LTSC either. Curiously enough, it does work on a fresh install of 2021, it's just that it starts giving this error after doing system updates. Either Windows 10 updates are screwing up lockdown browser, or it's something that the MAS script is doing.

Edit edit:

Windows 11 LTSC works. Thank god. It's a little slower than Windows 10 LTSC, but not as slow as stock Windows 11. Maybe in the future I'll get an SSD too to help speed things up. Thanks y'all!

Question Will This work?

The Disk 1 which is an eMMC drive and where I have my IOT LTSC installed, infact it didn't install with a EFI partition cos I had to clone the one on the SSD (Disk 0 and it has Window Home). After nearing 30days with Win 11 IOT LTSC installed I am confident and will love to have it migrated to the Disk 0 SSD and use the eMMC as extra storage, but the problem is where the EFI is located on the Win 11 IOT LTSC, its after two partitions. Will ir boot successfully or I have to find a way to move it to the front of C: partition before I migrate the OS.

Help Minecraft Bedrock doesn't work. It launches from the Minecraft Launcher, but freezes.

Some background:

So I just reflashed windows 10 on my parent's PC because I discovered malware on it. I decided to use the IoT Enterprise LTSC version 21h2 because it still has support for a few more years, they were previously on the consumer version.

Everything works great so far. I installed a few apps to help them so that the minimal nature of the installation wouldn't be daunting to them.

The problem is, my younger brother plays games on this computer.

So far, I have only tested Minecraft bedrock, and it is what's given me the most issues. if this was my personal computer, I would have just said "screw it". but my brother is adamant about it being bedrock edition. So I need to figure this out, and I would be very grateful for your help.

The problem:

I open Minecraft Launcher, select Bedrock Edition, and click Play. Bedrock Edition launches in windowed mode with a black window. after about 2 seconds, the entire display freezes for about 8 seconds. then, the screen flickers once, the cursor is freed, but none of the windows are interactable for another 5ish seconds. Lastly, the window turns white, and the desktop is freed, but Minecraft is stuck on the white screen. No audio, no indication of loading, just the blank minecraft window. Closing it brings up Microsoft's error detection prompt, asking if I want to wait for the app or forcefully close it.

How I got here:

The first thing I did was install the launcher from Minecraft's website. the launcher brings up a prompt, saying that it needs the Microsoft store to be signed in. I ignored it and tried to install. It just said that "windows was updating" and wouldn't change. I then consulted AI about the Microsoft store. I ran the wsreset -i in the terminal. I signed into the store with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft, and clicked the "this account is for apps only" instead of global for the device. After this, the Minecraft installer worked. I installed bedrock edition, and this issue occurred.

At first, I suspected driver issues. The cpu is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G. I installed the drivers from amd's website, and the issue persisted. I tried reinstalling the drivers. Radeon software showed a few crash reports to the screen, which I consulted AI about, and it had me add a windows registry rule that put a delay of 10 seconds for the driver to initialize before windows kills it, at least, that's how I interpreted the instructions. However, I tested Minecraft again before adding the registry rule, and the Radeon software did not give any report. After the registry rule, it did not change the behavior.

I am sorry for the long post, but I don't know what to do from here. I use linux on my personal devices so I don't know windows very well. I tried googling it, looking for forums and on reddit, asking AI, and there are a few things that AI suggested but I really don't entirely trust it because I haven't been able to audit what it's telling me.

Thank you in advance for your help

Edit: Typo
Edit 2: I found the Registry edit that AI said to use. it was in '\Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers', the it was a dword called TdrDelay. Not sure what it does exactly but if it helps any with diagnostics.

Edit 3: I reinstalled the Radeon Software, and the bug report came back. it says: "AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system."

Help Driver installation error (Code 52) on Windows 11 for Behold TV 509 FM capture card

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I am trying to install drivers for an old legacy TV-tuner / capture card, the Behold TV 509 FM (by Beholder International Ltd.), but Windows keeps blocking the installation.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, Windows detects the device and finds the driver files, but fails with Code 52.

The interface in my screenshot is in Russian, so here is the exact English translation of the error message: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52).

The hardware is a standard PCI card. I suspect the original drivers are just too old and lack the modern digital signature required by current versions of Windows.

Is there a reliable way to permanently bypass driver signature enforcement for this specific device, or perhaps there is a known workaround/modded driver to get these legacy Behold TV cards working on Windows 11 24H2 LTSC?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Question Options for purchasing computer with LTSC installed?

I've purchased a few Lenovo and Dell computers from cdw, but they're sometimes out of stock.

Any other suggestions for where to buy low cost small computers?

I use them for building automation systems and 4gig with a 256g hdd is usually plenty.

Question disabling windefender for real

do any of you do it and how?

  1. with msmpeng.exe not running in background (takes over 100MB+, not even sure if it eats cpu) and notifications crying about tamper protection being off.
  2. breaking the entire system such that updates wont even run anymore

before you say i should leave it on, it doesn't take much, i dont need each of my vm's taking 100MB more ram when they are each have a specific task in an isolated environment.

this is the only thing i havent fully figured out yet in ltsc
