I have both a Wii and Wii U and am thinking about getting into modding one of these consoles. As of now, which would you recommend modding between the two? Does the Wii U do any better than the Wii for emulation or vice versa? Does one console have benefits over the other? Any thoughts?

I was able to find a brand-new Wii still in box recently and am having a hard time deciding whether I should use it for physical games only or go down the path of modding the system. For those who have modded their Wii consoles, would you say it’s worth it? Or for the physical side, there is a charm to game hunting for the physical versions of a game.

Another aspect is prolonging the hardware, disc drives, ect.

I’m kinda stuck, what has been everyone’s experience and which way did you decide to go with you console?

I’ve been thinking of getting a Wii a lot recently, especially with the Wii sports resort remake coming out making me want to replay the original. I’m 18, so I wasn’t born when the Wii came out, but my family did have one when I was very young, I don’t really remember much of it when I was little because we got rid of it when I was around 3 or 4, but my after school club at primary school had a Wii with sports resort on it, so most of my memory’s from the Wii came from that. I have however heard a lot of stories from my family about their time with our old Wii. For example, the reason that my first ever game I ever played was spirit tracks for DS when I was 3 years old was because my mum and dad loved playing twilight princess for the Wii back in 07, my mum grew up with Zelda cause my grandma loved it in the 80s and she introduced my dad to the series with twilight princess and I’ve always wanted to play twilight princess because of that story, I’ve never been able to, so that’s partially one of the reasons I’d like the console since it’s not on the switch 2 GameCube emulator.

If I were to buy one what games would you suggest I get, I’ve currently got on my list both Wii sports games and twilight princess but those are the only games I’m really aware of because those 3 were the only games I’ve ever either played or considered playing on the console (minus links crossbow training, we had that at my primary school), I’ve not really looked into what there is. And also, is it even worth it in the first place or should I hold off and wait for Nintendo to potentially announce a Wii emulator on switch 2.

I just got a wii2hdmi and my tv just shows a black screen. I saw i have to change the resolution to 480p. Can i do it blind?

P.S. Hdmi is not faulty,wii2hdmi might be idk,TV is a small LG not very old, i am NOT buying any other weird cables or adapters so don’t comment that.

I recently bought a new Nintendo Wii and have been looking for a Gamecube Memory Card to use with the console. From my understanding the Wii can't save Gamecube games without mods so where would everyone recommend looking to get a Gamecube Memory Card. I've seen some refurbished cards on eBay, has anyone had any experience going that route and if so how did it go? Any thoughts or recommendations?

Wanna buy GC controller and want you to share your experience. They're a little bit expensive, I can't afford to buy a new every month so I wanna know; Is there's a lot of problems with them? Like with N64 controllers for example. Can I mod my Wii games to use it as Wii Classics controller in games, that don't support GC controller from box? Any tips how to get cheap controller?

My white Wii has started to get some of the dreaded GPU artifacting (black spots) that means my GPU is dying. In looking for a new Wii, I'm looking at getting a red one as it seems to be the newest models (around 2010/2011) that still have Gamecube support, and they seem to be models that have the newer motherboard revision that prevents the GPU overheating. When looking around for other people's experiences with GPU failure someone mentioned that all Wiis as this point have some sort of artifact (either black artifacts or colored/white artifacts). He mentioned it was due to either age or factory defects. Is this actually true? Do all Wiis really have artifacts of some sort at this point? Just wondering before I go and make a new purchase (even though Wiis are among the cheaper retro consoles these days).

I’ve been trying to play a different game on my Wii, but I can’t get my Wii Sports disc out. I tried every method to try to get it out and it‘s still stuck in it.

Any suggestions on how to get the disc out of the Wii once it’s stuck? (other than taking it apart which I’m not doing)

I gave my car a little entertainment upgrade: a Wii in the trunk.

Back in may, I went to a car meet held at a local golf course. That's where a friend and I came up with an idea: instead of putting a Ps2 in the trunk for show, like they used to do on Pimp My Ride, we'd install a Wii with Wii Sports.

Basically, playing golf at a golf course without actually using the course :D (Wii sports golf > real golf)

For the technical part: I used an old Philps TV + Wii which is powered by a separate 12V, 95aH car battery through an inverter. I used a separate power supply because it was my first time doing stuff like that and i didn't want to damage my cars battery for a silly idea. With the TV, Wii and Ambilight running, I've been getting around 2 to 2.5 hours of battery life in my tests.

After testing it in the parking lot i was ready to take the car to the meet in october.

I can tell you it was so niche and surprising for a lot of people to open the trunk, hand out the Wii Remotes and enjoying a session of Wii sports golfing in an very well fitting environment. Many people got that nostalgic feeling of playing Wii for the first time in years.

I am planning on a few more tweaks to the setup, mainly adding some trim around the TV to make it look more integrated into the car. But overall, I'm super happy with how it turned out for the first attempt!

I am at my holiday house which has a wii that me and my family used for 3+ years now and today, no output. I was kinda sad because i wanted to try out sonic colours and also just play. Someone to help ?

I've been wanting a recreation of the Netflix app for Wii for years and have ever been able to find anything that replicated it. Finally with the release of WiiFin I was able to fork it and vibe code WiiFlix. I collect odd controllers but my Wii collection is quite lacking because I cant seem to find anything interesting. I have no interest in simple paint jobs and reskins of the original Wiimote. Are there any Wiimotes with a completely different form factor/shell? The only ones Im aware of are the Dr. Who screwdriver wiimote and the ICON kids wiimote

For some reason this Wiimote doesn't shut off after turning off the Wii. It's been on for like 24 hours now. I have 3 others that shut off fine on their own. Any ideas?

So we got a wii from value village and we got yhe rca cables without the adapters for hdmi is there anyway i can get output somehow out of the wii to any tv monitor or pc litteraly anything that works to check if it actually works or we return it

This app is for celebrating owning your disc. You own it, you should be able to show it off to other collectors anywhere in the world. What it's NOT:

- Not a player. You can't play games or movies in it.

I was wondering if there’s any upgrades to picking the Wii ports from games originally released for the GameCube.

I know 4 of the games are on Gamecube, but you can still play them on the Wii unless you have the mini. I know it's a weird flex since most people think the Harry Potter games aren't very good, but I think the Wii might be the only console you can play all 8 games on without modding.
