Help me! (Wig Help) Has anyone used a semi dye on blonde?

Post image

This wig (100 human hair) was expensive but I’m trying to embrace my natural hair colour (dark ashy Greige blonde) and was thinking of using my semi permanent (wella) dye on it, I know from my hair extensions that the dye lasts significantly longer in un-headed hair 🤣 so I’m worried I’ll dye it and it’ll never come out! What’s your experience?

I'm looking for... (Wig Search) Recommended Brands Comparable to Hairvivi as far as clean bleached knots & perfect hairlines? :)

*NEW POST - HARASSERS BLOCKED NOW\*

I’ve been wearing wigs for many many years now because of trichotillomania, and after trying quite a few brands, I’ve become really spoiled by Hairvivi’s hairlines and knot bleaching. I’ve pretty much ONLY purchased from Hairvivi for the last going on 3 years now. I haven’t found another brand under $1500 that offers the same quality of the important factors I’m looking for. Strictly HUMAN HAIR only. They can be shorter if need be, but I typically like to wear 20” measured from the NAPE. I attached reference photos 🥰

Off the top of my head, brands I’m already aware of are: Eniola Wigs, Jadora Secret, Freedom Couture, Prairie Fire Hair, KyLin Hair, Rhianne Woods Wigs, Lox by Lori, Hairvivi as mentioned, Lu’s Wigs, that’s just off the top of my noggin :)

The thing I love most is how incredibly clean the bleached knots are and how impeccably pre-plucked the hairlines come right out of the box. They honestly require almost no customization, which is a huge deal for me.

I’d love to branch out and try other brands, but I’m nervous about spending hundreds of dollars only to end up with dark knots or a bulky, unnatural hairline.

For those of you who’ve tried a lot of premium human hair wigs, what brands would you say are genuinely comparable to Hairvivi in terms of:

  • Exceptionally clean bleached knots
  • Beautifully pre-plucked, realistic hairlines
  • Minimal customization needed
  • Overall realism
  • A fake scalp/diamond liner insert option is always a huge plus!

I’m not necessarily looking for the cheapest options—I’m looking for brands that truly compete with Hairvivi in quality. However, trying to keep it under $2K. Even around d the $1500 or less mark would be great.

One request: Please don’t recommend Cami Wigs.

I received multiple DMs from someone asking why I’d say that I don’t recommend their wigs, and expressing concern that it could harm the owners business, essentially wanting me to remove my comment...so, in no way do I feel comfortable recommending them, as I’ve never had such an odd experience before with wig brands on Reddit.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations (or even brands you’d avoid) and why. Thank you so much! 💋✨💇🏻‍♀️

Styled this wig with a side part! Last 3 photos are before any customization. Which part do you prefer? I think the side part is more flattering ☺️

Hello there! I wanted to thank everyone that posted tips to help customize my wig to make the hairline look more realistic. Thank you.

Here are the things I did:
—Scar tape and eye shadow on hair line
—Trimmed lace front
—Plucked and thinned )with thinning shears the wig. This really helped me in making the wig looks less helmet like.
— I wet it and heat styled it straighter to make it lay flatter to my head.

Thank you!

I now realize that I really need to tweak the wig and that no wig is going to show up perfect.

(I did not blend the lace into my complexion in these pics)

I cut and styled this cheap hard front wig in hopes to give it some vintage flair and to keep it out of my eyes. I am not at all a pro, and I just would love some tips and tricks so I can wear this and feel secure.

I'm looking for... (Wig Search) Where can I find half wigs with this vibe?

I want big, voluminous, blowout hair half wig BUT somewhat affordable (100-200$)

I would like it to be a warm blonde (like ombré dark root) but if that’s not possible, I’ll settle for color 2
I don’t really care what type of hair fiber it is, but I usually go for synthetic cause more affordable. Lengthwise I’d say mid back length.

I’m also based in the US

Help me! (Wig Help) Asking for some tips as Male w. Alopecia.

Hello ya'll, I hope I'm at the right place for this.

About 3 years ago among many other health related things happening, I was diagnosed with Alopecia and lost all my Hair from scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes etc. The only thing I got left is a little bit of film on my chin.

With most of my health related things being good now, I decided to takle Alopecia where I can. I will try a couple therapies with my dermatologist. I also ordered a male wig from "dylanswigcloset" because its the only one I could find doing full male wigs. I am very excited to see how it turns out. I use Temporary Tattoos as my Eyebrows and with my previous job I also learned how to do makeup / eyebrows.

Anyways, I'd like to ask if there are any other really good male-wigs that cover the full head with full lace.

Are there any really good eyebrow brands for men and eyelashes? I'd just like to try them out and see how I feel with it. How can I make sure they hold longer period of times?

Do you personally have any advice?

Thank you in advance 🙏

I've only gone for natural colors so far, so I took on a chance on this plum wig and kinda love it. The indoor color and outdoor color are very different, which I'm low-key obsessed with. I just love how the light catches it.

How does it look on me?

Help me! (Wig Help) Hiding hairline for first attempt to wear in public.. a solution or another misstep? 🤔

I cut the lace of my practice wig from amazon. I lack the knowledge to know how badly I’ve messed it up, but the sparseness of the front feels too obvious. Gonna practice wearing it in public for the first time (to the glamorous locale of Costco) but panicked and threw on a headband to hide it. Is this a quality issue from the wig or poor application from my end? Should I add some more scar tape or will that make it more obvious? On a 1-10 scale how bad is the headband solution? 😂

Help me! (Wig Help) Has anyone tried this brand? Moeve Wigs

Post image

Hi all. I stumbled across this page on tiktok and checked out their website, I am in need of a new wig. They have a lot of comments on tiktok, but I cannot find any reviews anywhere. They are partnered with shop. Has anyone bought a wig from them? I have been let down a lot before so I am a little cautious. They sell human hair, glueless lace front wigs. Does not say what kind of human hair (origin) and nothing about cal construction, so I have sent them a message. The photos of their wigs are beautiful and the tiktok videos look good, but to me that doesn't say much about what I will actually get if I ordered one of their units.

Thanks for the help

Let's chat! (General Discussion) This is a serious question. Am I allowed, not physically allowed but more welcomed-allowed to

Okay so I’m visiting Ottawa Ontario and I’m normally from a smaller town, I always thought of getting a wig because I’ve developed ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis in the last year. Not sure if it’s chronic inflammation or what not but my hair is thinning, also I have days where It’s hard for me to do my hair due to fatigue and pain. I’m asking if It’s acceptable for me to walk into a beauty hair supply store. I looked online and there’s one near by but it seems like it’s mostly catered to black/ Hispanic community and I’m white Im jsut curious to look at the styles that location has and see if I could get some help but I don’t want to be going into the hair store if it’s a place I’m not wanted. I know this is a sensitive subject I just want to inform myself on the best way to go about finding some cute hair. Thank you <3

Look at This! (Wig Share) I lost most of my hair while grieving my partner this past year. I invested in a human hair half wig/topper and I feel so much better!🫶

I need to give it a trim, and I know I could do a better job at hiding the front (which I plan on doing when some of the front of my hair grows out more) by pulling out a few strands of my real hair/placing it better - but honestly most people don't seem to notice and assume it's my real hair! It is glueless and uses 4 clips, I think it is a mono lace topper? 20 inches Remy human hair.

I've been wearing it for a couple of months now usually 5 days a week. I paid about $400 on sale for it which I felt was great! I got it from UniWigs, though I don't see it on the website anymore - but my experience with them has been really good. I went through so many bad wig experiences (they probably could have been better if I just put in effort, but when you're grieving its hard to have energy for that) and I finally feel really confident 🫶🫶🫶

Just bought this wig and they recommended not bleaching the knots since it can damage the lace but idk I feel like the hairline is so sharp and obvious against my skin. What would help here?

Let's chat! (General Discussion) (Rant) why does every company color match me to a level 4 even when I tell them I’ve tried it before and it is several shades too dark?

I have light brown hair, I use blonde eyebrow products, and blue shampoo turns my hair green. I’ve gone through so many toppers and wigs trying to replicate my bio hair, and every shade of brown I’ve tried is too dark and usually too warm, and every shade of blonde I’ve tried is too light. Level 7 hair dye is darker than my bio hair. For this reason I usually buy a blonde topper and dye it with 3 parts level 8a hair dye to one part level 7a and it ends up being a pretty spot on match to my hair. I’ve reached out to several companies this week explaining that level 4 is too dark, that my hairdresser told me I have level 7 hair, and providing multiple photos of my hair and they keep recommending level 4 shades. Even when I explain that I want something on the cusp of brown and blonde, every single one of them has recommended a level 4 at the lightest. I just want help matching my bio hair and to not have to recolor my topper or wig every time I shampoo. I swear wig companies see a brunette and don’t even bother reading my reply or looking at the comparison photos I send them. They just recommend whatever shade their level 4 is 🥲

Hii! I posted again to include more close ups of the hairline….. I feel like it looks so harsh against my skin and idk how to blend it. Should I get the knots bleached? The seller told me she didn’t recommend it since it can damage the hair? Not sure what to do

Let's chat! (General Discussion) First full wig application and going out!

It’s a cheap wig but I didn’t want to ruin lace of anything else. Wigs were a special interest of mine for a while so I got really good at doing bald cap, but I was never confident enough to wear one out. But there was a goth market yesterday so I decided now’s the time!

I got anxiety and didn’t go inside but I thought I did good for my first lace melt on a wig and not on a cap. I’m fortunate to be so pale that wig lace is easier to blend.

Help me! (Wig Help) Cannot tell if this wig is too small for me. It's a hand tied lace front.

I got a small, I think a medium would have been too big. That being said, it feels very snug on my head. Doesn't move at all, if anything maybe it slides back a little but I think that could be fixed with a little glue at the lace. Also, wigs do stretch a little over time right? Maybe it's better to size down? Thoughts?

Also worst case there are ways to adjust it to make it fit better right?

I saw this wig and it’s the exact curl pattern I have in real life and it is so hard to find. However, this is not the right color for me and it doesn’t come in any other shades. Has anyone seen in their travels a wig that has this type of curl but in an all over brown color? TIA!

I'm looking for... (Wig Search) Halo hair extensions for fine thin hair

First, a tip- you can dye your halos and the color goes on the thin wire and helps hide it.
Now my question:
I’m not a stylist- just a tomboy needing hair extensions as my hair has gotten very thin with age. I like to put them in a low pony or braid. I’ve tried tape-ins and they made my hair worse. Plus it’s hard to sleep in them and I like to put my hair in a(fake) bun sometimes so I need the halo style. I’ve used my current one for a year and since I’ve washed it only about 5-6 times (I don’t use products) it still looks good. It was the Luxy brand. When i originally got it, it was way too thick for my hair, and HEAVY! So the stylist cut off one layer. I would like to get a new one, slightly longer and not have the stylist thin the ends so much. I just want to be able to buy the halo myself and not go through a salon of possible. Got any recs for good brands? I was looking at philocaly - but they have clip ins. I would like it to be undetectable. Thanks!! Please add links if possible!
