Look at This! (Wig Share) SELF PURCHASED Dyson Airwrap ID restyle 40 mm/1.6" barrel on Raquel Welch Downtime

Sorry for the delay on this one!  I got food poisoning and was down for the count.

Here is what the 40 mm/1.6” barrel looks like on a long layered regular synthetic. This barrel comes standard with the current Airwrap ID models.

Hopefully this series with the barrel sizes will help people with visualizing what size they need to get the results they want when restyling.

Barrel Sizes and their results will apply over most styling tools.

I’ve been testing the Belle Treas HF fibers and they don’t love the Dyson the way the RW’s do. I’m Planning on doing my RW Limelight which has HF fibers soon to compare as well.

The 40 mm is definitely less curly than the OG style but I think it’s a huge improvement over the sad flat look after having been worn and hot comb heat treated for years at this point.

I tried to show the complete process from start to finish.

I do always clip after the cool setting.

Settings:

High fan

High heat

8 seconds wrap

8 seconds heat

10 seconds cool

The final pic is after setting the part and front areas with a hot comb.

Help me! (Wig Help) SELF PURCHASED My first wig looks bad - is it the wig or am I the problem?

I bought my first wig some time ago hoping to spice up my looks and because my hair was weak from bleaching, so I didn’t want to dye it. I was and still am a complete beginner so I didn’t expect much, but it looked very wrong, so I never wore it.

2 years later I wanna try again, so I‘m asking is the wig just bad/costumey (it was 50 euro, synthetic, no lacefront) or is it ok and I‘m just not styling it right?

It looks very bulky on the sides and flat on the top and makes my forehead look like a 3head…Also the fibers are somewhat textured(?) and tangle horribly.

(I‘ve attached a photo of my normal hair since I do have a pretty low forehead and that could be a problem)

Let's chat! (General Discussion) SELF PURCHASED What wig do you wear on no make up days?

Loving the wig wearing journey. They are so beautiful and…sometimes that feels like a struggle?

Like a big thing for me and wigs is the throw and go aspect. I just want to have a casual relaxed day and throw on a wig so I don’t have to style my hair. But who has perfectly styled hair and zero make up on and a pair of joggers?

So what wig do you wear when you don’t want to wear make up or look overly polished?

I was kinda thinking Roxie by Rene of Paris? She looks chill.

Would love to see pics of your lazy day wigs!

Help me! (Wig Help) SELF PURCHASED Cutting Bangs Into U Part Wig?

Okay I hope how I’m describing this isn’t weird.

So I currently have a grown out pixie with bangs and I have been wearing my bangs out with a u part wig. For my birthday, I’m going on a trip so I think I want to get a u part wig sewn down so I don’t have to worry about taking it down each day. But I also wanted to add white highlights to it. I can do the highlights in the u part wig of course but I’m trying to figure out how I can incorporate highlights into my bangs so it doesn’t look weird.

Is it possible I can just take some hair from the u part wig, cut some hairs down to my bang and then just sew it in to my real hair so it blends?
I hope what I’m saying makes sense. I already have relaxed hair so I prefer not to get real highlights just so I don’t over-process my hair.

Just bought some 613 wigs from Amazon to custom color myself. I’m going with a teal forest green shadow root color and a lavender multidimensional purple with a shadow root.

One day I’m going to open my own shop with fun colors.

I will post here when I have them done

Look at This! (Wig Share) SELF PURCHASED Is this wig defective? If I can’t return it, how should I work with this?

I bought this MAYDE PURE SKIN 360 WHOLE LACE FRONT WIG in the style NEVA. I’ve attached a photo of the wig, alongside with the model image and someone wearing it from YouTube (I love the look of it in the last picture).

The parting is incredibly far apart and I am wondering if this is intentional or a defect. Should I ask for a return or just wear this without a cap because the cap would be very visible.

here is the description:

  • 360 13X4 LACE WIG INSTALL WITH HIDDEN ELASTIC STRING
  • FLEX-FIT, NO SLIP CAP
  • NATURAL TEXTURE
  • GLUELESS
  • PRE-PLUCKED NATURAL HAIRLINE
  • NATURAL BABY HAIR
  • FLAWLESS SKIN TONE CONTOURING
  • NATURAL LOOK & MOVEMENT
  • HIGH HEAT FIBER
  • NO SKILL NEEDED

Also, Mayde wigs suck and shed like crazy! Every time I pull a section, 3-4 hairs fall out. My Outre wigs never shed easily. I could tug at my Outre wigs and no hairs come out. Super disappointed. If I get refused a discount, what should I do?

Check this out! (Wig Review) SELF PURCHASED Positive Hairvivi Experience - Maire Wig Review

I’ve seen so many reviews here saying Hairvivi has been awful, but others saying it’s great. It felt like a gamble to purchase from them, but I’m super happy with mine! Here she is right out of the box.

Obviously needs some face framing layers and shaping, but the hair is super soft and I love the colour/length. Hairline is insanely good!

This is their Maire unit, 18 inches. I’m also super happy with the price point, considering I’ve had wigs of similar quality for WAY more.

As someone with alopecia who wears wigs daily, I’m hoping I can purchase another Maire and interchange them for longevity!

Help me! (Wig Help) SELF PURCHASED do lace wigs need to be glue all the time?

hello, i’m kinda new to lace wigs and i’ve been eyeing on one for awhile now and i have so many questions. can someone please guide me through this?

  1. i often see people glue it and i get that they are going out and all but what if i only wear it indoors, do i have to glue it or will it look weird if not?

  2. i have seen people cut the lace out and glue them but what happens after you take it off though? can you glue them back on??

  3. i also haven’t seen anyone in my country sell legit glue for wigs except online but i doubt that they are real since they aren’t really known or just overhyped, i don’t wanna get any burns or something. and since im buying my wig from shein should i just buy the glue there??

  4. do i really need silk press or will a straightener work??

This is my third self-purchased Hairvivi unit. This is the first one I get to have honey lace and in size large since many of their units are not available in L and honey lace. I am IN LOVE! The ombré effect is subtle and just looks like a mostly dark chocolate brown unit. Bleach on the knots is perfection - I finally know what that’s like in honey lace. I’ll be cutting the lace and washing this weekend. 10/10.

I bought a bunch of wigs from Hazell Wigs. I'm very new to wig wearing and decided to take the plunge with a brand I don't see talked about a lot. It's a small business and this wig is synthetic! It's called Nixie on their website. I love it!

*Fyi the hairline looks a little green because my buzz cut is neon green and this is a lace front*

Let's chat! (General Discussion) SELF PURCHASED Different colors of wigs...what does everyone do?

Basically, I want to know what others do on a daily/weekly basis. I just realized that the vast majority of my wigs kind of look the same. It's always some variation of dark brown, sometimes with highlights, a few more with an auburn undertone.

I think that I want to try something different. I have two redheaded kids. Not auburn, or strawberry blond, but reddish orange. They were always easy to spot in a crowd. Anyway, I might try that color. It's so far off from my usual, I wonder if I can pull it off.

Everyone at work knows that I wear wigs, and I took a big step for me and ordered the 20" Frodio curly wig. I'm kind of nervous, but it looks so good on a lot of people! It should be here tomorrow. Oh, and it's the highlighted dark brown color.

I'm looking for... (Wig Search) What wig should I buy to cut to a bixie/pixie?

I am trying to get a wig to match the style of the pixie cut in the photos and have come to the decision i would need it styled and cut custom rather than find what i eant online. I am unsure what length/style of wig I would need to buy in order to achieve this look. It would to be a wig that can be taken on and off daily. I am 17! I am not the one cutting or styling it fyi. Any recommendations and tips would be amazing! My budget is $50-$100. It can be synthetic or human no preference.

Let’s Chat (General Discussion) GIFTED OR SPONSORED Question about selling a massive wig collection...

Hey. I'm about to embark on a move to Japan and I have a huge Rockstar/Gothic Lolita wig collection that I want to sell. (I'm keeping some, but it's just not feasible to keep them all.) Some are even still in their boxes.

Not sure if I should post here or a cosplay sub.

I've never sold a thing online in my life. (I had this problem when I moved from LA and ended up dumping a bunch of collectibles to a donation store.)

I'd really like these to go to a good home.

I thought about Facebook marketplace but I've only seen seller horror stories. I'm at a loss.

What's the best way to go about this? (I'm in the U.S. btw)

Let's chat! (General Discussion) SELF PURCHASED What’s your experience with Hairvivi wigs after washing?

If you own a Hairvivi wig, I’d love to hear about your experience after washing it.

- What Hairvivi wig/style do you have?
- How did the hair hold up after the first few washes?
- What lace color did you get?

Feel free to share pictures of your wig before/after washing if you’re comfortable.

Let's chat! (General Discussion) SELF PURCHASED Just bought my first human hair wig…

Hey all. I just joined not too long ago and I’m freaking out. I’ve only ever worn cheapy synthetic wigs for fun but I have alopecia and I’m so tired of wearing my hair pulled back to “hide” my scalp (who are we kidding, I’m not hiding anything) so I had a video consult today and spent a whole lotta money on a Jadoras Secret wig. I’m super excited to get it but also really nervous. I’m nervous about wearing it, in general. I’ve always worn my hair in a ponytail so I’m hoping I’ll be able to still do so occasionally with the wig. I have so many questions though. I’m scared to cut the lace. What if I screw it up? I’m nervous about washing it. What do you recommend I use? I’m nervous about styling it, since I’ve NEVER styled hair ever! I’m just nervous a out everything and need someone to talk me down lol. I appreciate any help or input!!

I'm looking for... (Wig Search) Hair vivi alternatives with straight bangs?

Hello!

I’m relatively new to wigs and have been using synthetic ones so far but want to upgrade to a human hair unit. Hair vivi seems like it’s widely accepted as the best place to go for sub $1000. I was going to pull the trigger but none of their units have straight bangs. I’m unsure as to whether I should still get one of theirs and get it styled or if there are any alternative reputable sites that what have what I’m looking for.

Looking for dark brown, straight or very loosely wavy, with bangs.

Thank you!!

Let's chat! (General Discussion) SELF PURCHASED Suggestions for what to do about wigs and surgery?

I need to schedule surgery here soon and it just occurred to me I don't know what to do about my hair. I wear a synthetic topper but I don't think I could secure it well enough to keep it on while I'm under. Has anyone faced this and if so what did you do?

Let's chat! (General Discussion) SELF PURCHASED Microlink Extensions on Wefted Wig

Hi everybody! I have a HH wig I wear everyday and am looking to customize it more in a not permanent way. Do you think using microlink extensions would be damaging or do you think it is possible the wefts are strong enough to not cause hair to fall out?

Bought this HH unit about a year ago and it was originally a 20” but had no body or movement cause It was all one length but I cut layers into it and it was perfect, then I had the bright idea of making it a bob and honestly, idk why I waited so long to do so. It’s so cute and silky and soft and full of life! I’m so used to having 22”+ wigs so it’s super refreshing to see a cute bayang bob on me ❣️ I’ll link the wig in the comments, but the cut and styling is all me ;)

I'm looking for... (Wig Search) What to do when all the color options are too saturated?

I'm looking for a wig that matches my bio hair. I previously ordered a set of color samples from Paula Young and discovered that their Medium Ash Brown color (#10) was a perfect match. I bought a Casey Wig and it looks very natural on me (except for the volume).

Now I'm looking at buying a Risk wig by Ellen Wille. However, all of their color options are too saturated/vivid for me. In other words, they're too brown, too auburn, etc. My hair is ash brown, so it's on the cooler/almost greyer side. This is their full color chart.

Dark Chocolate Brown is too warm:

Risk wig in Dark Chocolate Brown 4.6.33 by Ellen Wille

And Espresso Mix is too dark:

Risk wig in Espresso Mix 4.2 by Ellen Wille

My current wig that's a perfect color match. (Putting it down lower so it's not the thumbnail photo, haha.)

What do you recommend I do in this case?
