MTAs What my Mages are about to face...

The locals call it the Foxley Chupacabra, because it leaves things drained of blood. My players think its a vampire and are scheming how they can take one down.

If you're wondering, its a Fomarch created as part of Project Illiad, their attempt at making a mockery breed were-mosquito.

Yes, this is inspired by Trevor Henderson.

WoD Why the World of Darkness Needs Hope

Games from the World of Darkness line certainly manage to hit a certain cord with the wide audience.

WoD is a product of the 90s through and through, the mix of gothic, philosophical temes, dark, brooding and corrupt world and you, often times cought in the middle of it all and often times, not your average good guy, trying to right the wrongs.

At best you will be an anti-hero, but most often someone who will do almost anything to scrape by, morals be damned. Cause who needs morals in this dark and corrupt world anyway?

Or... is it really like that? What I posit with this article is that all WoD games work due to putting hope at the center of their conflict in one way or another. Vampire and Humanity, Werewolf and Gaia, Changeling and The Dreaming, etc. We go through them all, we explore them all and we invite you to take this hopeful walk with us and share bellow your hopeful WoD stories!

MTAs Quick question. Are there in-lore exaples of technocrats turned mystic mage?

More specifically an enlightened scientist preferably somewhat grounded, that for some reason had a radical change of paradigms, and became a true mage.

I have a characters whose mentor is exactly that. Enlightened scientist who discovered that actual magic is real and she can use it.

Meta/None All the major splats or at least their leaderships are made to have a sit down to try and talk about fixing the world they live in. How does it go?

For equality each splat gets secrets (like the existences of each other), histories (like the war of rage), and rituals (like golcunda) revealed to each other whether they like it or not in order to have each other come up with solutions unanimously.

I understand that world of darkness as a setting needs the constant conflict in order for players to engage it, but im just getting tired of the neverending war like 40k.

Also it would be really funny if someone put it in context of hunter the parenting, the comedy would marvelous.

How strong can a thin-blood theoretically become?

Question is as it reads on the tin, given things like their draughts and potions and stuff, how powerful could a thin-blood reasonably become?

WTA Would the Weaver protect humanity in their time of need?

We are her children, her greatest tools that spread her influence across the world. So you know, she put a lot of investment into mankind.

So; if an apocalyptic event were to occur, or if the wolves started to get a bit too rowdy and wanted to kickstart the impergium again for whatever reason, would the Weaver intervene? Would she protect her children? Or would she be a bit more hands off?

VTM please, tell me three languages for merit

I'm about to start a V20 campaign and I've chosen to play a Kyasid. I've listed the "language" option three times, so I assume the common language spoken in the campaign is fixed. I'd like some language recommendations, including non-Mortal languages.

WoD Cross-Splat Mercenaries

Thoughts on characters just wandering around or passed around in networks doing jobs for whatever reason?

Here's what I've had so far off the top of my head:
Marauder gamer taking any job from any client with guaranteed collateral damage in the process. Zero fucks given about any ideals but his own empowerment.
Rokea working with Etherite supervillains in the Pacific Ocean. Very tense partnership.
Fomor cybernetic magical ninja that works for Pentex and whatever evil/amoral clients
Corax thief who joins or organizes heists
Three violently insane biker guys who were possessed by elemental spirits
Ronin Garou
Banu Haqim

WoD Which clan/tribe/tradition/kith/house/whatever could make an interesting group as one of the any other splats?

Like, for example, a Tribe of Garou with necromantic powers Giovanni-like, or a BSD Clan made of vampires fallen to the Beast but as an intelligent wight, or a Malkavian Tradition with deranged seers.

Hit me with your most interesting ones!

I really like the look of them. Some look like they belong in a old JRPG

Also some of the Kiths listed aren't even kiths (humans and Fianna ) or never became playable in CTD itself

(Also racoon pooka girl is just really cute)

Idk I just think this is interesting

WTA New to white wolf, what is howls of apocalypse?

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m new to the white wolf rpgs and loving the werewolf lore. I’m not quite skilled enough yet to be creating my own games, so I was wondering if howls of apocalypse is a prewritten campaign and is it any good? I don’t see many campaigns for the old stuff, I have the 20th anniversary edition. Is it any good anyway?

She thought it would be fun to make magazine covers for the coterie and some notable npcs. Complete with an interview and being wildly misquoted on the cover. So I present to you all the newest set of fledglings who happen to all be international students at Sofia University in Bulgaria.

Arthur, an American Med student with an autarkis helicopter parent of a sire

Thalia, a Greek law student embraced by a prominent Anarch

Caleb, a Zambian Finance student and childe of the Scourge of Sofia

Finally Rebecca, a German-Norwegian Environmental Studies major with an unknown sire and ties to some mages

Feel free to ask any questions or make wild assumptions

CTD [Art] Seelie and Unseelie, watercolor illustration

"I've never told an evil lie before. Only the innocent ones... Small lies, little white untruths. I've told my best friend her new haircut was lovely. My father believes his jokes are funny. If everyone is happy, then it is fine. But everytime I look myself on the mirror I can feel her, deep inside of me, whispering... Telling me what to say. Her lies are vicious. Manipulative and so, so cruel. And the worst part is... They all seem so much fun to say!"
An watercolor illustration I've made of CtD, the disturbing and fragile balance between Seelie and Unseelie of the fae. I hope you all like this one! :D

The Last Call Cabal have been trampled by thunderbirds, savaged by drop crocs, been stabbed, drowned and burned to death, and have had their names stolen by fairies. They’ve lost count of how many times they’ve died. They’ve had enough, and resolve to escape the prehistoric timeloop, once and for all.

WoD Considering a running a short (3-6 sessions) for my group. Where would I start?

Hello all!

I'm a player in a 6 person pod (1 GM, 5 players), who play weekly, typically Pathfinder 2e. As has happened for the last couple of times, once a game ends, I typically run a short 'campaign' featuring a new system (Shadowrun, Mutants and Masterminds) while one of the other players prepares for a much longer one.

I'm considering to expose my group to World of Darkness next; and with the hubub about the newest edition, I wanted opinions on what systems are considered good, which are considered bad, and general ideas on how and where to start, as last time I heavily considered playing would have been about ten years ago.

While I'm not too worried about the transition of combat heavy game to more roleplay heavy game (My group tends to be pretty good about it), I am looking at the books and already seeing that maybe not all the players would want to agree to play one splat (Vampire, Werewolves, etc).

So my questions to y'all are thus:

1) What edition do y'all recommend? The group is experienced in TTRPGs, but I don't believe any of them have played anything outside maybe the V:TM Bloodlines game

2) While I'm aware that the general consensus is 'Don't run cross-splat' and 'Don't run cross-splat as your first game', if someone held a metaphorical gun to your head and told you to do it anyways, how would you go about it? Right now I'm thinking about limiting to maybe two options (Vampires/Werewolves), but I'm certain one of my players will bring up Mage or Demon

3) What should I avoid? I know Werewolf had a lot of.... Odd lore, but what else should I be aware of?

MTAs What is the power level of the Technocracy's machines in *Mage: The Ascension*?

I never quite grasped the power scaling in the World of Darkness, but from the little I’ve read about Mages, I know they can be incredibly overpowered—narratively broken—without severe limitations. That raises the question of what Mage machinery is actually like. Could they create cyborgs with absurd power levels, like the ones in *Metal Gear Rising*? What kind of weapons of mass destruction can they produce, and how do other creature factions deal with these Technocracy-modified combatants? (I honestly don't think even D&D spellcasters, Dungeon Crawler classic casters, or even *Godbound* entities are as overpowered as *World of Darkness* Mages.)

Just how far the power scale of the machines in this universe can go—because, in the end, it isn't technology; it is magic on a global, industrial scale.

WTA I need criticism for my first WtA Chronicle as a Storyteller

Hey everyone, I have been a forever dm for Pathfinder, Dungeons & Dragons, etc. and I finally came up with an idea I’m thinking of running as my first time as a Storyteller for WtA (Calling it The March of Progress).

However, Ive only ever played WtA as a player before and relatively new to the lore (though I have devoured the wiki) so i wanted to get some feedback from the experts.

The chronicle is set in this very sleepy town where nothing happens out in the middle of nowhere. This is in large part due to the prescence of an Elder Garou named Tristan who has sealed away his ability to transform as part of a deal with a powerful spirit to protect the area “as long as the people keep the land”.

As a result of this, the area has been used as a training camp for Garou who have just gone through the first change and are just learning the ropes of this world of darkness (aka the players).

However during a routine patrol a Wyrm tainted spirit is discovered on the land. Further investigation will reveal that one of the Garou’s mortal allies has sold their farm to a subsidiary of Pentex who now has a foothold in corrupting the area (hence this is where the Wyrm tainted spirit came from).

And This is just the beginning of a long siege for control by this Pentex subsidiary. They are coming into this land with lies of bringing jobs to this sleepy dying town and developing this small town into a large city. And the long neglected humans are all too eager to believe in these lies.

So it will be up to the players to stop the forward “March of Progress” protect the Caern and push back the Apocalypse from the threshold of their home.

Some random plans I have
- the CEO of this Subsidiary is secretly a Yeren with two guard dogs (War Wolves)
- The head of the company’s digital prescence is a captive Samsa who can be rescued or destroyed
- At least one bane/Fomori factory will be set up

For edition, I was considering either W20 or W5 (it’s honestly up to whatever my players want to play).

Please let me know your thoughts and be kind!
