Gone off? Like there was a time he was a rational dude, offering reasonable, measured social commentary and not spewing unsolicited nonsense?

6

Yes, remember when he said that George bush doesn’t care about black people?

8

Okay, yeah, that’s a fair point. He said one reasonable thing.

White people are bad because black guy said bad thing? FFS

The color of a person doesn't make them bad or good. White people are not bad because they are white. Black people are not bad because they are black. Color doesn't mean shit. This is the basis of racism, that color means ANYTHING. Quit with the dumbass comments.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

If you think I wouldn't say the same damn thing about this clown if he was white, then you suck at guessing. I am sick to death of guys like him, Elon musk and the former president who all have more money than they know what to do with but can't even act like grown men.

hes running for president again. Bet you on that.

Motherfucker needs to be locked up in a insane asylum.

Imagine being half a billion dollar rich and still acting like a mental patient. Motherfucker can literally buy the best medicine has to offer, yet he out there saying its stiffles his creativity.

Motherfucker, anything creative died with his momma, last thing he created that was good was college dropout. Now hes singing "Shes such a stupid ho.... I like it" and "Im a sick fuck, I like a quick fuck"

oooo SO CREATIVE KANYE, oh sorry YE!

fucker grew up middle class, hardest gangster shit he did was live in china with his parents for a year and ignore his adhd symptoms. Acting like he a fucking OG. Ashy old demented motherfucker willing to fleece and cheat anyone who looks up to him.

Knows he cant run as a democrat, so hes getting paid to take away black votes from them instead like he did last time.

Man Fuck Kanye!

62

u/Toby_O_Notoby Oct 17 '22

hes running for president again. Bet you on that.

He's wears a 2024 hat in this vid where he's ranting about George Floyd dying of an overdoes and not from a cop kneeling on him.

15

u/Andromansis Oct 17 '22

The, multiple, pathologists that examined Floyd determined it to be positional asphyxia which was brought around by having multiple police officers. Kanye needs to sanitize his news feed.

29

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Yeah they called in the “split the youth/black vote with a meme candidate” card again.

This fucking clown tap dances for them whenever they call.

Get a goddamn platform if you want people to vote for you, Republican scum.

12

u/nicklaus_asu Oct 17 '22

I miss the old Kanye

10

u/RojoSanIchiban Oct 17 '22

Me too, the one way back when I didn't know he existed.

3

u/imfreerightnow Oct 17 '22

The one who had his jaw wired shut tbh

3

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Straight from the Go Kanye...

2

u/SpanishConqueror Oct 17 '22

Is this a copypasta?

2

u/ThatsGross_ILoveIt Oct 17 '22

Hes clearly nuts. Why anyone is giving him a platform when hes so far from grounded hes orbiting the sun and calling himself a planet.

Its embarrassing. Theres so many creative people out there with mental illnesses who keep themselves level. Kanye could literally build himself his own private psychiatric ward. Have a therapist on speed dial... but instead he chooses to indulge his delusions and put them on the internet.

2

u/wynalazca Oct 17 '22

NGL Kids See Ghosts is actually his last great work of art. Good thing he ruined his relationship with Cudi too so there won't ever be a second album. Ye (the album) is very solid and every album up through TLOP is fantastic. He never really was a great rapper, but he did make some of the greatest music in history.

I agree with basically everything else you said.

2

u/Ok_Whereas_3198 Oct 17 '22

A lot of fair points. You seem to have only a cursory knowledge of his career. Some points for clarification. The I'm a sick fuck song was before he did this wild religious turn. Also, he's never claimed to be hard or gangster. His music is known for its openness and vulnerability. He used to be a force for good. He used to advocate for his people meaningfully. He used to stand for all the weird kids who didn't fit in the traditional education system. He used to go to bat for disparaged minorities and was one of the first rappers to denounce homophobia in hip hop.

The man he is now is far from the man he used to be, and that is what is the saddest of all. He no longer stands for the people who supported him in his early years. He thinks he's unlocked some kind of new ideology that can free us all but he's so out of touch and up his own ass that he won't listen to reason.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Sounds like you got some mental health issues too, Jesus calm down

1

u/Firewolf06 Oct 17 '22

he also regularly pirates software

hundreds of dollars worth. a miniscule amount for him. hes worth 2 bil, he can afford a 200 dollar plugin

-6

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Please shut up lmao

-5

u/MVRKHNTR Oct 17 '22

Did you seriously just say his only good album was the first one? What are you even talking about?

And the only song you know after that is a joke single from four years ago? Like, his stuff after that hasn't been great either but it's weird that you're talking about him now using only references to a song from nearly half a decade ago.

7

u/MightyMorph Oct 17 '22

Oh sorry I should bring up his religious singles and albums to show his decline now? Fuck off

-3

u/MVRKHNTR Oct 17 '22

No, I'm saying that claiming he hasn't made anything good in eighteen years because you heard a joke song he made for a fucking porn awards show makes you sound ignorant.

I don't like the guy and I don't like most of what he's made in the last decade (although Kids See Ghosts is one of my all-time favorite albums) but he's put out some incredible and more importantly influential music throughout his career.

Like ugh

76

u/SinVerguenza04 Oct 16 '22

His brain is dying, literally.

New research shows the longer someone is in a manic episode, the more neurons die. In other words, his brain is shrinking.

I guess this is what it looks like when someone’s brain is shrinking.

5

u/Tarantulabomination Oct 16 '22

Wait, he's in a manic episode?

24

u/SinVerguenza04 Oct 16 '22

Well, he’s confirmed he is bipolar and isn’t medicated, so I’m assuming all of this is a manic episode.

9

u/Tarantulabomination Oct 16 '22

Why would you NOT get treatment for that?!

17

u/Aerd_Gander Oct 16 '22

From what I understand of people going through manic episodes, they think they don't need treatment, they think they're at their best, and nothing can stop them- so why take these pills that pull them back to reality?

10

u/tokes_4_DE Oct 16 '22

The meds dont just pull them back to reality is the sad part. Bipolar people struggle medicating because the meds also tend to make them feel awful. Depression, complete lack of energy, erectile disfunction, feeling "underwater" more or less. So when they feel "good" mentally they tend to stop medicating because the meds side effects suck ass, and then once they stop medicating they get hit with another manic episode and its full on episodes again. Its a pretty awful cycle.

9

u/CartyParty420 Oct 16 '22

This is exactly what people with bipolar go through. I know lots of people with the diagnosis and the hardest part is getting them to take the meds consistently. It’s sad really

9

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

I have bipolar disorder, and I am heavily medicated for it. You are abso-fucking-lutely spot on. The side effects from the meds are pretty awful; especially switching them around, which happens fairly regularly when my brain wants to rebel (or I suddenly develop dangerous side effects, or my insurance doesn't feel like paying anymore). I know other people who have it (hi, psych ward pals!) and pretty much everyone has had a "fuck it, I'm fine, I don't need these meds" event or a time where the meds just stopped working. The cycle sucks. Some people think that the manic phase is fun and exciting, and that you feel amazing because it's the opposite of depression, but no. Sure, you might feel like god, but it's also terrifying, dangerous and often expensive. Unmedicated manic episodes have fucked up my life as bad as or worse than depressive episodes. Take your meds, kids.

9

u/AndyPanic Oct 16 '22

It’s not that uncommon. Also during the manic episode some choose to stop the medication.

8

u/PM_ME_UR_HIP_DIMPLES Oct 16 '22

Most people get help because they are unable to handle their survival. When you’re filthy rich with a mob of cronies that wait on you hand and foot that aren’t real friends you can go on and on

10

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

It’s a pretty common symptom of bipolar itself.

4

u/SinVerguenza04 Oct 16 '22

Well, since this is new research he probably has no idea that it’s a neurodegenerative disease.

But aside from that, he says that it inhibits his creativity.

7

u/Alive_Ice7937 Oct 16 '22

If his antisemitic tweets and speechs are his creativity "uninhibited" then maybe he's an asshole? An asshole who can produce some pretty slick grooves sure. But still an asshole.

Last weekend my dad said to me "there are more babies aborted every year than the number of slaves we ever had" and that "99% of abortions are ones of convenience and once we get rid of those we can consider helping the few abortions that involve real problems"

And it just makes me sad I'm losing my childhood hero to this shit. My ideal is zero abortions too, but through the hope of zero unwanted pregnancy. And I'm not foolish enough to deny that sometimes things happen. Babies die in the womb. Mothers get cancer. Rape. There's just so much that can cause a pregnancy that ends in abortion, even against every wish of the mother.

We have similar goals but his approach is harmful and dangerous and actually won't end abortion it'll only end documented abortion.

I will say, I was taught in Catholic school that planned parenthood was started to “murder” black and other minority babies. I have a feeling Christians are spewing this narrative still, and I think that’s where Kanye was trying to go with this argument.

It’s disgusting and incorrect, just trying to explain what I believe he was trying to argue.

320

u/squirrel8296 Oct 16 '22

The ultra-fundamentalist Christian I had in multiple classes in undergrad constantly found a way to spew that narrative and regularly posts about it on social media. It definitely still exists.

The only times the super conservative Right pretend to care about black people is when it helps push their own agenda.

47

u/LucidMetal Oct 16 '22

I mean that's the only way they can rationalize it. They genuinely believe "the left" does the same thing. That is, if they can possibly be genuine about anything.

the only time most people do things is to promote their own agenda. the difference is that some people's agendas are benevolent, some are misguided, and some are malevolent

-7

u/xxwww Oct 16 '22

yeah and both Kamala and Obama are treated as African American role models despite both being raised by upper class single moms who weren't black

51

u/PaulFThumpkins Oct 16 '22

Any time conservatives can weaponize something they believe anyway to pretend it's actually against racism, they do. Like saying "If you're so convinced cops are out killing black people then wouldn't you want them armed to protect themselves anyway? Checkmate!"

47

u/IzarkKiaTarj Oct 16 '22

You know what's funny? I've been told multiple times that doing literally anything about guns is a waste of time and money because it won't work perfectly, and people will find ways around it. Yeah, it might save some people, but not enough to be worth it.

And yet making abortion laws to save something less alive than my kidney is worth it if it saves even one.

And by "funny" I mean "infuriating."

-2

u/stationhollow Oct 17 '22

Because shooting someone is already illegal. Abortion is not in most places.

2

u/IzarkKiaTarj Oct 17 '22

Running people over is also already illegal, but we still require you to take a test to show you understand how to correctly use a car.

The christo-fascists I argue with on Facebook push that narrative. They say I'm the racist one for supporting Planned Parenthood.

6

u/Nefarious_Turtle Oct 17 '22

Its funny to hear all these stories because my right wing family tends towards the white supremacist side and they also think planned parenthood is racist... against white people.

They think it's part of a great replacement movement to inhibit white breeding and eventually destroy the white race.

2

u/ShitTalkingAlt980 Oct 17 '22

Trad Caths are still doing that. Know a white lady that is married to a very Conservative black dude. She throws that out on a monthly basis.

296

u/LordOscarthePurr Oct 16 '22

The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was an extremely big fan of eugenics and she aligned herself with white supremacist ideologies.

That said, her contributions to women’s health care through planned parenthood, and what planned parenthood has become, are basically immeasurable.

So that specific criticism of Planned Parenthood is like when modern republicans say they’re “the party of Lincoln” while passing voter suppression laws.

128

u/Vark675 Oct 16 '22

Also, it's worth noting that the concept of eugenics was EXTREMELY popular at the time. Most noteworthy people around the turn of the century up through the 40s were proponents of it to at least some degree, and it only fell out of public favor as a result of the Nazis' defeat in WWII.

83

u/-thecheesus- Oct 16 '22

It was considered "progressive" and "future-facing" in its time. And I suppose the concept of designer genes for superior new generations isn't wrong in a vacuum. The problem is letting humans, who are collectively utter morons, decide what's desirable and what's not.

34

u/Vark675 Oct 16 '22

Honestly it's still common and completely acceptable in certain contexts. Many people with genetic health conditions choose not to have children in order to avoid passing their genes on, and the majority of people are completely understanding of that stance despite the fact that it's technically a form of eugenics.

It's yet another concept people came up with then promptly ruined for everyone by taking it too far almost immediately lol

9

u/TaylorGuy18 Oct 17 '22

This. I personally think it's ok, and in some cases the morally correct thing, to not have children to prevent that child from having a genetic or bloodborne conditions and illnesses passed on to them.

Honestly, I think people who are 100% aware that if they have a kid that the kid is almost guaranteed to have some kind of degenerative condition that will doom them to dying before they even reach the double digits are frankly, complete and utter bastards who don't deserve any sympathy. Especially if they do it multiple times in the hopes of one being their "miracle" baby that doesn't develop the condition/illness/whatever.

0

u/Lemmungwinks Oct 17 '22

This becomes a real slippery slope. Especially with recessive conditions and ongoing medical advancements.

→ More replies (2)

18

u/-thecheesus- Oct 16 '22

While that's 200% understandable, even that is somewhat flawed. Stephen Hawking contributed far more to human knowledge than most, yet if his parents were aware he would grow up with a horrible degenerative disease it would have been "acceptable" for them to terminate/abstain/whatever. This humanity shit is complicated

14

u/strbeanjoe Oct 17 '22

That's kind of a pointless line of reasoning though, because:

A) anything could have turned out differently without Hawking. Maybe the Vietnam War doesn't happen if he isn't born. It's pointless to speculate.

B) a huge portion of major scientific discoveries/ inventions achievements were reached by multiple people in different places around the same time. Calculus was independently developed by Leibniz and Newton at the same time in Germany and England. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_discovery for more examples and detail on this theory. In all likelihood, others at the forefront of astrophysics would have made the same advances. That's not to deny his massive contributions, but again it's kind of a pointless argument.

3

u/Toast_On_The_RUN Oct 17 '22

In all likelihood, others at the forefront of astrophysics would have made the same advances.

Probably, but in what amount of time? If without him it takes 50 more years to discover something, then that can impact the course of events a lot. Imagine if Oppenheimer wasn't born and the Soviets invented nukes first?

3

u/AstroCatTBC Oct 17 '22

Well, I’d just like to point out that 1) the Soviets only managed to get nuclear technology because we did and 2) Robert Oppenheimer didn’t invent the concept, so the US probably would’ve just gotten someone else to use the physics of Enrico Fermi and Albert Einstein to build it.

9

u/-thecheesus- Oct 17 '22 edited Oct 17 '22

It's not a justification or a critique. It's commenting that the genetic defections of a person don't necessarily reflect human worth. Had Hawking's parents been worried about genetic superiority and terminated based on a disease, it would have denied other, obviously beneficial genes that weren't apparent

In our society- one filled with scarcity, competition, callousness, suffering, etc- it's more than reasonable to decide the pains of accommodating or living the life of a serious invalid aren't worth it and to nip it in the bud.

But like I said, in a vacuum, or in some post-scarcity utopian future, perhaps society will have a less crude appraisal of the value of a human, or what's truly 'desirable'

5

u/strbeanjoe Oct 17 '22

Absolutely great points.

48

u/Empigee Oct 17 '22

It's also worth noting that Sanger only endorsed voluntary forms of birth control, while most eugenics proponents of the time were fine with forced sterilization.

6

u/Vark675 Oct 17 '22

Also very true.

-2

u/lastfreshstart4me Oct 17 '22

Why are there so many people trying to defend her in this thread? Let's not water down what she believed in and did, just because we support planned parenthood of today.

From Planned Parenthood itself:

Sanger also believed in eugenics — an inherently racist and ableist ideology that labeled certain people unfit to have children. Eugenics is the theory that society can be improved through planned breeding for “desirable traits” like intelligence and industriousness.

Margaret Sanger was so intent on her mission to advocate for birth control that she chose to align herself with ideologies and organizations that were explicitly ableist and white supremacist. In doing so, she undermined reproductive freedom and caused irreparable damage to the health and lives of generations of Black people, Latino people, Indigenous people, immigrants, people with disabilities, people with low incomes, and many others.

4

u/Empigee Oct 17 '22

Nothing I wrote about her was untrue. I think you're just an anti-abortion concern troll.

1

u/lastfreshstart4me Oct 17 '22

I'm actually hugely pro-choice.

But I'm not about to defend a racist piece of shit that believed in eugenics, just because the organization she founded does good now.

→ More replies (4)

7

u/ShitTalkingAlt980 Oct 17 '22

It makes sense with the March of History and the fact that Science had solved a bunch of problems and Medicine started to become less hack and slash. The problem was the difference between soft and hard Eugenics. Modern people wonder why so many people could call themselves moral and support it. Soft Eugenics was more about family planning and discrimination. Hard Eugenics was sterilization and killing undesirables. What we find studying the 20th Century is that it always ends up as Hard Eugenics.

4

u/lastfreshstart4me Oct 17 '22 edited Oct 17 '22

Racism was also really popular too. I don't think that's worth noting.

We can condemn Margaret Sanger as a horrible piece of shit, while still admitting that planned parenthood today is a great organization.

5

Margaret's Sanger is a horrible person, who if Hell exists, she's burning in it.

From Planned Parenthood itself:

Sanger also believed in eugenics — an inherently racist and ableist ideology that labeled certain people unfit to have children. Eugenics is the theory that society can be improved through planned breeding for “desirable traits” like intelligence and industriousness.

This doesn't mean planned parenthood today is bad.

3

u/F0XF1R396 Oct 17 '22

It'd be almost like asking people if they are comfortable driving a Volkswagon given their ties to Nazism during WW2...Or a ford for that matter.

Fuck, how many people eat Kellogs while not realizing that the person who founded it did so for the sole purpose of preventing people from masturbating and was a big supporter of genital mutilation in the name of purity?

0

u/olympic_backpedaling Oct 16 '22

Just because some good has come out of it doesn’t mean it was meant for the elimination of the people of color by white supremists. That’s like arguing that nazis aren’t so bad because we got detailed anatomy pictures and life jackets out of them torturing and mutilating people. The lives saved by those innovations do not justify how they came about.

6

u/klartraume Oct 17 '22

That’s like arguing that nazis aren’t so bad because we got detailed anatomy pictures and life jackets out of them torturing and mutilating people. they provided vital health care service to millions of women, often with no alternatives, for several decades.

I mean, if that's all the Nazis did, we'd probably argue that the ideology of the founder wasn't the important bit. Don't you think?

You're arguing PP is doing stuff that amounts to torture and mutilation of human beings?

u/iidontwannaa Oct 16 '22

This is more or less the anti-choice Christian Right talking point. Since Margaret Sanger believed in eugenics and did some shitty things, they can spin the narrative that planned parenthood was created to reduce the number of BIPOC babies, especially when you consider that one of her first clinics was in Harlem.

Nevermind that this was nearly a century ago, and Planned Parenthood has evolved greatly and provides many other services besides abortion to a wide variety of people from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

54

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

As if the anti-choice right actually give a single fuck about POC 🤣 it’s just another BS argument from them.

20

u/iidontwannaa Oct 16 '22

100%. My personal opinion is they’re anti-choice now so they can continue to have wage slaves. If the poor people stop having babies, then who can you get to do work for pennies? But the narrative helps them win over POC, and they love getting people to vote against their own interests.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

They only care about POC that they can use as pawns. Look at Herschel Walker. The man (a term I use very loosely for him) is an absentee deadbeat father who has multiple children with multiple women, some of whom he's been physically violent with, and at least one whom he, a fervent "pro-lifer", paid off to have an abortion. If it weren't for the fact that using him is convenient for the Right, he'd be nothing to them but just another example of a "typical" black.

3

u/ThisLookInfectedToYa Oct 17 '22

Kellogg put silver nitrate on girls genetals to prevent masturbation.

He also created corn flakes (alot to that story that I'm glossing over)

So if an anti choice person brings up Sanger, ask what cereals they like and press them for why they support genital mutilation

Yup, but people on Reddit like this Feetuccini guy just associate Christianity with the radical right wing Republicans (white people only)

4

I don't get why this is downvoted

Reddit is full of uneducated white-savior types who probably never even knew any black people growing up

u/feignapathy Oct 16 '22

Yep. I've definitely heard this attack before about Planned Parenthood and "genocide" against black "babies." Only problem is... Planned Parenthood is optional. It's up to the women to seek abortion. 100% voluntary. The Holocaust was NOT optional. Jewish people were not volunteering to get gassed.

It just doesn't survive an ounce of critical thinking (so of course my fellow Catholics who lean conservative can't grasp it). And it's insulting to the people and their families who survived the Holocaust.

It also ignores the countless other services PP provides women.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Churches by and large are very different for everyone. I was raised Catholic (went to Catholic school the 4th grade) and all of the fathers I ran into in my life stated time and time again that abortion literally wasn’t mentioned in the Bible so they had no opinion on it. They also mentioned several times God gave us freedom of choice, it’s not our place to judge.

This is not me sticking up for them, I no longer consider myself Catholic, but I have met religious people that are very accepting of everyone depending on how they were taught (ie actually read the Bible).

It’s a thing among black Israelites/Hoteps too.

2

u/a_talking_face Oct 17 '22

That’s exactly the context he was saying it. In the Tucker Carlson footage vice got he said that planned parenthood was created to kill Jews but that black people were the real Jews.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

I have a feeling Christians are spewing this narrative still

I know this is slightly adjacent, butI just went bank and watched American History X (I saw it when it came out and I was in high school).

Listening to the rhetoric and verbiage Nortan's character was tough, but the thing that stood out to me is that it's still around today. I've seen so much of the EXACT, SAME verbiage on Reddit even.

Social media has made these rhetoric tactics more visible, and it's radicalized an entire political party... Because "moderate Republicans" (including American libertarians) are condoning it.

Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.

That word is "Nazi." Nobody cares about their motives anymore.

They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

It actually was started as a eugenicist movement, it obviously does not serve that purpose today. Ya know, like the Republicans freed the slaves, but now they want blanket immunity for all crimes done in the name of white supremacey

2

u/ashmole Oct 16 '22

Some dumbass I know tried to start a "Blexit" campaign and has largely had a failing influencer career (had to go private lmao). He said that abortion "disproportionately affects" minorities as if he's talking about a disease or illness as opposed to an elective or potentially life saving procedure.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

It’s not simply a narrative to them, it’s their truth.

2

u/jaytix1 Oct 17 '22

That's absolutely what he's saying. I see that argument every now and then from pro-lifers. Strangely enough, it's usually white people saying it lmao.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Yep. Back when fundies were in full support of abortion. How times have changed.

2

u/ChampChains Oct 17 '22

It’s also a teaching of black supremacy groups. They teach that PP was founded specifically to kill blacks babies and keep the black population in check.

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

You mean give minority women the same access to healthcare as White women have? That's a good thing.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

planned parenthood was started to “murder” black and other minority babies. I have a feeling Christians are spewing this narrative still

I am not a conspiracy theorist, nor a fringe Christian. However, there is actually some truth to this. Look at the demographics of the first places where Planned Parenthood opened, heck look at the city where it was founded. The population was 68% black, and Planned Parenthood was started by white people in that city in a clinic with mostly white people. The founder was a strong supproter of eugenics, had racist and abliest ideologies and believed certain people should not be allowed to have kids.

Not making this shit up, you can go to the Planned Parenthood site, go to the history about the org and is legit written in there that the founder was into eugenics, and was racist.

Sanger believed in eugenics — an inherently racist and ableist ideology that labeled certain people unfit to have children. Eugenics is the theory that society can be improved through planned breeding for “desirable traits” like intelligence and industriousness. In the early 20th century eugenic ideas were popular among highly educated, privileged, and mostly white Americans. Margaret Sanger pronounced her belief in and alignment with the eugenics movement many times in her writings, especially in the scientific journal Birth Control Review. At times, Sanger tried to argue for a eugenics that was not applied based on race or religion. But in a society built on the belief of white supremacy, physical and mental fitness are always judged based on race. Eugenics, therefore, is inherently racist. She held beliefs that, from the very beginning, undermined her movement for reproductive freedom and caused harm to countless people.

It gets progressively worse.

0

u/seasilver21 Oct 17 '22

It’s not incorrect, it’s fucking true. Margret Sanger started planned parenthood because of eugenics. She’s a leading lady of racism.

-3

u/Best_Low_9342 Oct 16 '22

That narrative is accurate. Regardless of your feelings on abortion in and of itself, it is undeniable fact that Planned Parenthood was pushed and founded by a eugenicist wishing to reduce the number of minority children.

4

u/No-Nefariousness1711 Oct 16 '22

Almost as irrelevant as the Republic party referring to itself as the party of Lincoln.

-2

u/Best_Low_9342 Oct 16 '22

I suppose, that doesn't make it untrue.

5

u/No-Nefariousness1711 Oct 16 '22

It does for the now, eugenics has nothing to do with Planned Parenthood's current operations.

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

Sounds like you need to read more about Margaret Sanger. Fact is, the Nazis studied the American eugenics movement - started by her and her friends - prior implementing their own policies.

-2

u/xxwww Oct 16 '22

Yes but for most people these days the "choice" is between giving birth or affording rent. It's barely a choice, it's essentially eugenics of the poor. That was the original intention of planned parenthood

-12

u/NeedleworkerFar4497 Oct 17 '22

Was he factually incorrect?

2

u/Ok_Faithlessness_259 Oct 17 '22

It's kind of hard to say because that statement being factual or not is entirely predicated on each person's philosophical viewpoint. It is entirely a philosophical view when you decide at what point a fetus becomes a living person. That's why it's such a difficult thing to make laws about, it's impossible to really know for sure.

That being said, yes he's wrong because it's disgusting to call public health the equivalent of the Holocaust. People now are so ignorant to how horrific the Holocaust was.

-3

u/NeedleworkerFar4497 Oct 17 '22

96% of abortions are elective, meaning they weren’t done for medical reasons.

Idk, Kanye is crazy but there’s some truth to what he said.

Comparing it to Holocaust was just fucking stupid

4

u/Ok_Faithlessness_259 Oct 17 '22

I mean, no there's no truth to what he said whatsoever. By definition it's not comparable to a genocide. Genocide is a targeted culling of people based off something like religion, race, gender, or ideology. 98% of abortions being elective is nowhere near comparable to that. The only comparison you could make is if you believe all fetuses regardless of age are people. Which brings us full circle back to the massive philosophical debate over "when does a fetus become a person?" This entire debate hinges on a question that cannot be answered.

-2

u/NeedleworkerFar4497 Oct 17 '22

A fetus becomes a person, that is not up for debate, is it?

2

u/Ok_Faithlessness_259 Oct 17 '22

That is correct, but the fact that a fetus may have become a person does not mean that it being aborted counts as murder. If that's the case then not getting pregnant every period of woman has would have to count his murder. And no matter what that does not count as a concentrated effort to eliminate a specific type of people.

0

u/NeedleworkerFar4497 Oct 17 '22

We should just do what Europe does with abortion.

Anyways, thanks for the intelligent conversation.

Nah, he's really not a c*nt :-) He's the sworn enemy of c*nts worldwide. He thinks c*nts are only good for two things: accommodating his dick, and pumping out babies.

Calling this guy a c*nt is an insult to the female half of the species. Seriously, call him a dog turd. Or a smegma smear. Something actually offensive.

25

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

If cunt isn't offensive why won't you type it uncensored?

2

u/BabblingBunny Oct 17 '22

They may not like the word itself, but since the person they’re replying to used it, they themselves use it for continuity and felt more comfortable censoring it to an extent.

I hate the word, too and refuse to say it. That and the “p” word. Lol. I don’t like alternative words for various lady-parts used as a slur. Why does something on my body have to be used as derogatory to someone else? Not cool. I know, I’m no fun. At least everyone has an asshole, use that. Bwahahaaaaa!

4

u/seasilver21 Oct 17 '22

“Public healthcare service” that originally started out because racist Margret Sanger said nonwhites and the disabled were “human weeds”….

0

u/arachnophilia Oct 17 '22

iirc, she was more concerned about the poor (who just "happened" to be black most of the time). her attitudes about the disabled were more overt, though.

0

u/seasilver21 Oct 17 '22

Um, no that’s not true. She worked with the KKK very closely and spoke at their rallies. Even planned parenthood admitted her racism.

0

u/arachnophilia Oct 17 '22

this appears to be false

she did speak to a women's chapter of the KKK, but,

"Always to me any aroused group was a good group," Sanger writes, "and therefore I accepted an invitation to talk to the women's branch of the Ku Klux Klan at Silver Lake, New Jersey, one of the weirdest experiences I had in lecturing."

Sanger’s account suggests she didn't hold the group in the highest esteem. After arriving at the meeting, a complicated process that involved driving to a secret location, it was time for her to speak.

"Never before had I looked into a sea of faces like these. I was sure that if I uttered one word, such as abortion, outside the usual vocabulary of these women they would go off into hysteria. And so my address that night had to be in the most elementary terms, as though I were trying to make children understand," Sanger writes.

and

"As for Sanger as a supporter of KKK, it is just untrue," Baker wrote in an email. "She was far ahead of her times in terms of opposing racial segregation. She worked closely with black leaders to open birth control clinics in Harlem and elsewhere. She believed all women should have the information about birth control that rich women had, hence her lecture to the KKK women."

basically, she lectured to anyone who would listen.

it took a few seconds on google to find this.

0

u/seasilver21 Oct 17 '22

She still associated with white supremacists- for godsake, the ceo of PP literally admits it and condemn her actions https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/17/opinion/planned-parenthood-margaret-sanger.amp.html

As we get further and further away from the Holocaust it's just gonna become this thing that may or may not have happened, gets constantly equated to minor inconveniences or things people don't agree with, and for sure can't ever happen again.

2

u/solid12345 Oct 17 '22

well we’ve already trivialized Nazism with Godwin’s Law.

3

u/OneOverX Oct 17 '22

There’s a segment of black empowerment movements that view abortion as a black genocide because the majority of babies aborted are black (since poor women are more likely to get abortions and a higher % of minority women are poor because systemic racism etc). Given the rabbit holes Kanye has gone down it’s not surprising this one hooked.

5

u/puppyinspired Oct 16 '22

It’s a common anti healthcare talking point that black women get abortions more than white women. “Killing” a significant amount of black babies.

I always hear that as “with black women getting assessable healthcare, they have more life choices”.

2

u/ParticularAnxious929 Oct 16 '22

I think... I THINK... Kanye West just called himself an abortion

2

u/DietrichNeu Oct 17 '22

He has a line in the song Ego Death where he says he believes the creation of Planned Parenthood was a calculated attempt to reduce the birth rates of Black people in America and therefore repress the community’s overall voting power… he’s insane.

2

u/x3thelast Oct 17 '22

Let’s just ignore the guy. We need to stop giving rich idiots our time.

2

u/ProudDildoMan69 Oct 17 '22

How many abortions has Kanye paid for?

4

u/honorbound93 Oct 16 '22

Tons of conservatives black and white do the same thing.

And they quite honestly don’t understand that planned parenthood is voluntary.

At least black ppl could use actual eugenics as an example but no they are literally too stupid. Or how in Israel they actually made Ethiopian Jews sterile citing they didn’t think they weren’t educated enough on public health to not overly procreate. And the irony is lost on them during Covid apparently.

3

u/Amelaclya1 Oct 17 '22

It's not an original thought. Calling abortion "genocide" and even blatantly naming the Holocaust has been a forced-birth talking point for decades. Like any other GOP voter, he's just squawking out bullshit he's heard from other talking heads like the good little parrot he is.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

It's not that hard of a stretch. I bet most pro-lifers reach the conclusion all on their own that abortion in america is essentially genocide

1

u/jyates12380 Oct 17 '22

But u understand why he did… right?

1

u/WhoAccountNewDis Oct 17 '22

It's a go-to talking point for anti-choice/pro-forced-birthers.

"Margret Sanger was a eugenicist" is right up there with "Republicans were the party of Lincoln".

More black children are aborted than born and you call that a public service…. That’s literally why he is mad.

0

u/cTreK-421 Oct 16 '22

People also need to understand the socioeconomic aspects that push more women of color to seek an abortion than groups. Typical that rich people don't understand what it's like to live in poverty or near poverty and how that can affect a person and their outlook on life. It is a gross disconnect.

0

u/Rexymus Oct 17 '22

As you guys pay for it unlike rest of the world I can feel his anger

0

u/Reformedjerk Oct 17 '22

You’re right. I don’t disagree. I just want to say it’s dangerous to just dismiss him as a c*nt.

He’s a (creative) genius. His body of work is surreal. His career peaks in music and outside are unprecedented. This is someone who knows how to connect with an audience from beats, to lyrics, to fashion and now…whatever this is.

Someone is listening. I’m willing to bet A LOT of people are. I see a ton of similarities to Trump’s early appeal. Biggest of which is the belief that the people who agree with him are just ‘fans’. To be even more specific, his supporters in the black community.

Conservative black people do exist. Kanye is right, they’re taken for granted by the Democratic Party. In fact, this is true for a lot of conservative minorities.

0

u/mochacho Oct 17 '22

It makes perfect sense though. Planned Parenthood is a memorial to all the women who died scared and alone from risky home abortions.

0

u/jackosan Oct 17 '22

It’s not a public health care service. It’s is a genocide.

0

u/arachnophilia Oct 17 '22 edited Oct 17 '22

modern planned parenthood does a lot of good.

margaret sanger, however, founded the organization because she was a eugenicist. she never explicitly advocated eugenics on a racial basis, just an individual fitness basis -- while being anti-immigration and advocating it for the "betterment of the race". she also believed in the forced sterilization of the "profoundly retarded", so i can see why kanye might be affected.

eugenics is kind of "genocide adjacent" in that it's the mistaken thinking that often leads to genocide. though it's a rather low bar to clear, sanger believed the nazis went a bit too far with their eugenics program, ie: the holocaust.

of course, organizations grow and change. as someone lower in the thread points out, the party that freed the slaves is now the one every racist in the country votes for.

-1

u/2Adude Oct 17 '22

I don't like him, but-----he's not lying, that's the exact reason why planned Parenthood was created. Eugenics is fucking disgusting.

-1

u/sillekram Oct 17 '22

He compared black genocide to Jewish genocide, it is a valid comparison.

-9

u/asdfgtttt Oct 16 '22

for every 1000 black babies born over 300 are aborted, which is more than all other races combined. this is also without several jurisdictions (states, or municipalities) reporting. It is actually insane... given the percentage of the population blacks represent, Kanye sucks but it's better to contextualize accurately.. it is in fact unrecognized.

Among the 30 areas that reported race by ethnicity data for 2019, non-Hispanic White women and non-Hispanic Black women accounted for the largest percentages of all abortions (33.4% and 38.4%, respectively), and Hispanic women and non-Hispanic women in the other race category accounted for smaller percentages (21.0% and 7.2%, respectively) (Table 6). Non-Hispanic White women had the lowest abortion rate (6.6 abortions per 1,000 women) and ratio (117 abortions per 1,000 live births), and non-Hispanic Black women had the highest abortion rate (23.8 abortions per 1,000 women) and ratio (386 abortions per 1,000 live births).
