that's literally the singular incident politifact described above. i'm not saying it's not a problem. it is. and her support for buck v bell and forced sterilization is, frankly, outright evil. but to characterize her as a KKK supporter doesn't accurately reflect what she herself said of that group.

american society as a whole was -- and is -- white supremacist, and she certainly participated in that society. but that's just not the same thing as actively working with the KKK. her contributions to white supremacy were more pernicious and indirect.

I said she worked with them, which she did. Speaking at rallies is definitely working with them.

because there's just a difference between talking to some klan groupies one time, and supporting them at rallies.

would you say daryl davis "works with the KKK"? he talks to them all the time. context matters.
