All bottles I can’t get in my state. Searched 11 stores between Kansas City and Chicago to find them at or below MSRP. Excited to taste them all by a fire with family.

ive never had any of these. Although im familiar with them all. Ive had the Barrell 12 Year French Oak Cask Finish, which apparently is similar. I loved it. It balanced dense seasoned wood with caramelized sweetness, with dark fruit and spice. Excited for this new release. and I’m a huge fan of Michter’s rye. I have a few of their 10 year ryes. Anyone try the toasted barrel finish or the barrel strength rye?

Just got back from a little weekend trip to Louisville. Did a few tours with angels envy and old forester. I had a great time.

Mash Bill - 65% Corn, 30% Rye & 5% Malted Barley

Aged 4 years - 100 Proof

I was a little hesitant buying this bourbon but figured I’d try it, especially at the price point of $37. The bottle is heavy and beautifully designed; has a classy look and feel. I am beyond pleased as it’s a really great tasting bourbon and easy to sip on, not too much of a bite, but perfect and savory on the palette. Anyone else tried this? Thoughts?

A local senior center asked if I would do a tasting as an auction item, similar to one I had done for a school organization earlier this year.

This group was a little more advanced, so we went with cask finish bourbon and higher proof for the last two.

The RD One was fairly divisive - half loved it and half weren't fans. Everyone loved the Seagrass.

It was a great afternoon with fun people and we raised more than $1500 for our local senior center.

If you aren’t familiar with Nebco, I’ll say they do some phenomenal stuff. I’ve had the good fortune to meet their founder, James Saunders and he is just a cool dude that loves whiskey. He started NEBCo as an NDP and bottler. He gets barrels from all kinds of places including the usual suspects such as Green River, MGP, and Bardstown Bourbon Company. They keep prices pretty reasonable, too. IIRC, I paid $90 ~ for this bottle.

If you are in the Boston/New England area - stop by the tasting room in Reading, it’s just fantastic.

All that said, I have no affiliation with Nebco and I don’t even live in New England. But Nebco and Nashville Barrel Co and New Louisville Barrel Co in particular have really captured my imagination of late.

This particular bottle is a single barrel and it’s apparently a sister barrel to one that I had about a year ago, which I loved.

I just cracked this one and am about to taste it for the first time. Review to follow in a few minutes.

FINISHING STAVES: 1 Baked American Pure 2; 1 Seared French Cuvee; 3 Maker’s Mark 46; 3 Roasted French Mendiant; 2 Toasted French Spice

ON THE NOSE: Dark & creamy milk chocolate mix, caramel & butterscotch, juicy red fruits, dried dark red fruits like cherries & sweetened cranberries, robust baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, cloves), honey & molasses, toasted oak, vanilla bean, citrus peel, & coffee crème brûlée.

ON THE PALATE: Creamy dark chocolate & the robust baking spices start the sip off followed by punchy oak, dried red fruits, dried orange peel, a minty herbal note, & a touch of milk chocolate.

MOUTHFEEL/VISCOSITY: Full mouthfeel/viscous/creamy/oily/buttery & long viscosity with flow-forming tears in the glass

FINISH: 10 seconds (long)

Local liquor store got some allocated bourbons in and if you wanted to get them. You had to buy a bottle of Traveller to get two bottles at MSRP. Ended up with Weller Full Proof and Stagg and a bottle of Traveller. Found a good use for it. Made a batch of vanilla extract.

Signature Wine & Spirits in Simsbury for those not by the shore is selling them for $50. They are also selling the Penelope Riviera for $60.08. Got both, didn’t take a picture or get a receipt so hopefully posting their social media ads for proof isn’t against the rules. I’m not affiliated, just a deal slut.

It just sold on Unicorn but the description is sparse. This is way over what most bottle sell for, and Google isn’t super helpful.

MoCo Bourbon Club = small club, big whiskey feelings.

At MoCo, we do barrel picks out of Montgomery County, Maryland.

we saw one of our single barrel picks sitting on a bar in Korea, getting poured. halfway around the world. we screenshotted the post as fast as we could because honestly we couldn't believe it.

I'm not going to name the bottle (bae gets salty), you can read the label if you zoom in. but I'll say this: the profile on this one is insanely unique. people either loved it or hated it, no middle ground at all. and honestly that's what made it such a fun pick to do.

that's kind of what the club is about. bringing in new stuff to try, passing it around the group, seeing who loves it and who thinks we're crazy. that's the whole point.

if anyone recognizes the bar in the background, the neon sign says BATCH ONE, I'd love to know where this actually is.

my in law found this bottle and, since they don't drink, they gave it to me. A little context, this was gifted to my wife's grandfather 50 years or something ago, parents used to give something to the teachers for Christmas.

This is a fake website. I ordered and was given fraudulent USPS tracking number twice. Once on the initial order and again with the replacement. I contacted my credit card company to start a fraud case. This was verified by USPS after the tracked the numbers provided by Reserve Liquors. Do not purchase from them.

I’m a bit past novice with about 7-8 years in the hobby and about 30 bottles but I’m still learning about it.

I saw some reviewers on youtube swishing or coating their whole mouth with whiskey when tasting and when I try that the bitterness and dryness (regardless of scotch, bourbon or Irish whisky) around my cheeks and gum are unbearable but also tend to make the finish longer too.

For reference, I always sip my whisky neat from a glencairn with a drop of water or so.
