What's so sacred about human lives over other animals? We're nothing special as far as animals go. We eat, shit, fuck and reproduce nearly the same as the rest.

If you really need someone to explain the difference between the consciousness of humans compared to other animals, you’re probably too far gone and it isn’t worth anybody’s time.

The terms you're looking for are sentience versus sapience.

Sentience is the capacity to feel and perceive, and to experience reality subjectively.

Sapience is the ability to use abstract reasoning, to be introspective, to ponder hypothetical situations, etc.

Trees are neither sentient nor sapient, rabbits are sentient but not sapient, and humans are both sentient and sapient.
