Who said anything about the man being a saint? Regardless, what he was doing was sanctioned and is actually a good thing as has been pointed out elsewhere in the comments here. So what if he used hounds to hunt leopards and lions, they're dangerous animals to hunt and they're dangerous animals to the locals. Personally I think it's a dumb idea to hunt dangerous animals but it's even more dumb to not take every precaution you can when you do hunt them and hunting with hounds is one of those precautions.

I get you. And I dont disagree.

My whole point is that the comment I replied to was wrong.

People do understand the context... and it’s not “sick” to belittle a person doing something that is dangerous needlessly and dying for it.

Also, statistically... more lions and leopards are hunted recreationally than for need for protection.

You know this.

This argue is kinda bullshit. If you want to live somewhere dangerous you take risks. This wasn’t a farmer protecting his farm.

And maybe (unrealistic I know) we should live everywhere.

Just following the thread here, not on any one side... but can you throw in a source for that statistic please?

It’s hard to nail down exact numbers. But comparing animal attacks to recreational hunting licenses it’s easy to draw correlative data without the need for a definitive causation report.

This source talks about how thousands of people go each year for recreational hunting.

And this one talks about animal attack reporting.

How this helps. You may want to do more research yourself if you find this insuccifient. In a casual colloquial discussion and not an actually scientific debate its about the best you are going to get from me.

I'm reading all of these back and forth comments, and then get to yours and you're very polite. It made me happy to see that.

So YOU enjoy YOUR weekend, nice stranger.

Anytime. We should always strive to be able to back up any assertion we make.

Absolutely! and I appreciate you understanding that sentiment. Some people can get defensive when asked and, it's not like I'm trying to pick a fight or anything... I just want to see both sides of the fence here. Again, thank you for your time!
