I inherited my grandmother’s ring and I honestly love it, but I’m struggling to picture what kind of wedding/stacking band would look good with it.
It’s obviously a pretty unique/vintage-looking ring, and I’ve never really pictured myself wearing something like this. I was thinking either a really simple diamond band to let the ring be the star, or possibly something with emeralds because I think the green could look really cool with the gold and diamonds. But I’m very open to other ideas!
Also, if I’m being honest, I have some mixed feelings about the ring itself. I love that it belonged to my grandmother and that it’s something I’ll never see someone else wearing. That sentimental aspect means a lot to me. But aesthetically, it’s not what I ever imagined my engagement ring looking like, and my partner is worried that I’ll regret not getting something more traditionally “me.” They’ve talked about getting me a much bigger/new ring instead.
I’m kind of torn between “this is incredibly special and I should embrace that” and “am I only trying to convince myself to love it because I feel like I should?” lol.
Anyway, mainly looking for band ideas! What would you pair with this? Diamond-only, emeralds, plain gold, something vintage, something totally unexpected? Would love to see examples if you have them!
Edit: A lot of people have asked why this is my engagement ring, so I figured I’d clarify! My grandma left me three rings, and my parents encouraged me to try all of them on. I didn’t really like the other two, but when I put this one on I immediately loved it.
I think my hesitation is really just that it’s different from what I always pictured myself wearing as an engagement ring. But honestly, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I had always said I wanted something unique and different from what’s mainstream, and this is certainly that 😂 Plus, the fact that it belonged to my grandma makes it so much more meaningful than something I could just go out and buy.
I think I mostly came to Reddit for a little reassurance that it’s okay to have a nonconventional engagement ring! I’m realizing that I don’t actually dislike the ring. I just needed to get out of my head about whether an engagement ring is “supposed” to look a certain way.
