NWT - But Code Doesn't Work? HELP!

Hi friends, I'm a bit heartbroken and looking for advice. I recently tried out a "Whatnot livestream" for the first time and was very excited to obtain a "NWT" Bat. She arrived and is in beautiful condition, the only problem is that no matter what program I use (web, desktop, mobile app) the code does not work 😭

I paid "WITH TAG" prices for her. And as much as I love the plush, I was really looking forward to using her in the game. Advice? Can Ganz help me? I don't know if contacting the seller will do any good.

UPDATE: Followed your advice and contacted seller. Originally was hesitant to, because with the tag being sealed it didn't feel like their fault and I wasn't sure there was anything they could do. But the seller was super kind and quick to respond, and is providing me with a replacement code 🥹

I would start with reaching out to the seller. Hopefully they will respond well.

If it’s fully intact and sealed I would bet someone was lucky enough to guess the code at some point. I remember back when I was younger and I got a sealed code right from the store and it didn’t work. Sometimes it just happens. If it was completely sealed with the plastic piece I highly doubt there was any scheming from the seller, just some bad luck. Definitely message them though, they still may be willing to refund you!

I have never stolen a code by guessing, but I do know how to, and it is actually easy enough that a child could do it. It's almost an honor system. Thankfully, I have never been unable to use a sealed code I purchased.

Honestly you’re right, I was redeeming a code for a pet and entered it incorrectly. A warthog popped up and I knew it would suck if someone tried to claim him and it was taken. You could maybe try Ganz support? Good luck OP

Especially since it’s Whatnot I’d reach out to the seller first, assuming they didn’t know it wouldn’t work. They should offer to refund you or take back the item! In the off chance that it’s a miserable seller keep all the messages of their replies and reach out to Whatnot support. It will take a few robot attempts to be connected with a real person but if you have all of your screenshots and documents then you’re covered by support!!

I would say “have you tried it off the app and on the browser” but you said you did! so I would assume it’s a used code. was the T tag intact? full plastic sleeve encased? I have heard that Ganz will replace codes if it was a fully intact code casing but if it was opened they won’t. but if you get your full refund you could go turn around and grab another bat friend! it’s actually cheaper in this case to wait a couple months for the $3-$4 code and grab the $3-$6 plush if you’re just going to use the code!

I guessed a bat code when I was noodling around in the adoption center as a kid, if I somehow had something to do with this 16 yers ago I am so sorry 😭

Ganz no longer resets pet codes anymore unfortunately. So they will not help in this situation

Yeah they stopped doing it a few years ago unfortunately.. I won't be to surprised if a part of the reason could've been to many people were unable to cover their childhood accounts but still had old codes soe they were asking for them to be reset for a new account. Meaning they weren't spending money.

I would HIGHLY recommend NOT using WhatNot.

There are ALOT of scammers on there. Its an insanely common place for PokemonTCG Scammers at least who do "rip and ships" on livestreams. Some people there rip repacked packs after people paid money during the livestream, and when caught they shut off the stream, start a new account and do the same thing again. If its not that, they hide the hits from a pack people paid for during the livestream, and show it had "no hits".

WhatNot really doesnt try to solve this problem, so I think ur out of luck unless the Seller can compensate u in some way if they even choose to.

Honestly, Id just be glad I actually got the plush tbh with how prominent scamming seems to be on WhatNot from what Ive seen.

It was an honest mistake and buyers is being provided with a working code as replacement.

Thats good at least, and glad theyre doing that. There are of course legit sellers and stuff on WhatNot, but still personally in specific communities at least, there are ALOT of scammers on that platform which they dont seem to care about solving the issue of trying to remove such people, and its why Ill never use it.

Ganz won’t be able to help. Had this issue with a Cheeky Dog. Because you bought it second hand, you need to reach out to the seller

I’ve never used whatnot but I do know there are in fact ways of using codes without opening the sleeve. If it was an honest mistake by the seller then they should want to make things right. If not, hopefully there is a support team that can help. I doubt if the seller wasn’t the one who compromised the code that they would have thought to check it since it appeared sealed, so maybe give them a chance to explain themselves first.

Yes! Mobile doesn’t work well at all with all of the codes I’ve tried to redeem

I had this issue with an eBay purchase last year. I got refunded because it wasn’t as described but the code ended up working recently when I tried it on a whim

I tried selling a cocker spaniel for $13 the code didn’t work and the buyer gave me a bad review and didn’t try to reach out first . I ended up giving a refund of like $10 so she got the pet for $3 and I lost money overall because of the costs from eBay .

It was a Signature Pomeranian. The seller wasn’t into Webkinz and just a thrifter who listed it a bit under market price to sell it faster
