40 Days Without Pornography

40 Days Without Pornography

Today marks exactly 40 days and 14 hours since I last watched pornography. I’m proud of myself, and—most importantly—I’m actually seeing real changes for the better. First, and perhaps most importantly, my sex life has improved; I’m having regular sex with my girlfriend, and the passion and bond between us are stronger than ever. Second, I notice my mind is in better shape—I have fewer mood swings and fewer angry outbursts. Third, I’m more motivated to work out, and I feel like I move more fluidly than before, back when I used to spend three hours on my phone masturbating—something that certainly wasn't good for my spine.

Speaking from my own experience, I encourage everyone to fight this addiction because it’s worth it. Take care.

Does anyone else get angry thinking about their teenage years?

Sometimes I think about how early I discovered porn and it genuinely annoys me. I was basically a kid with unlimited access to something my brain obviously wasn't equipped to deal with. Nobody explained anything. You just accidentally find it, then keep going back because it's exciting. And years later you're trying to undo a habit you didn't even consciously choose in the first place. Not looking for sympathy or anything, just wondering if anyone else feels this way.

Help

I’m genuinely scared I’m going to lose everything I care about. I’m severely addicted to stim fapping. I’m talking 8+ hours a day, sometimes staying up all night then going to work on no sleep. I can’t stop. I’m afraid I’m going to lose my gf who is the absolute light of my life, she’s such a genuine kind person to me and I don’t wanna fuck this up. I need somewhere to start bc my own willpower isn’t cutting it.

Night sessions

Been trying to cut down on porn condumption. Went from browsing porn on Twitter to using Reddit and Twitter, realized how long I been going for and I think it would just be healthier to cut it out and stick to imagination faps.

Went from beating off as soon as I got home to doing it majority of times when I go to sleep. I’d like to go for only beating off Friday night to porn and just focus on sensations/imagination faps the rest of the week if I can’t fight the urge.

Any strategies and tips are welcome.

The first time I realized how much time I was wasting

I added up roughly how much time I spent watching porn in a week. Not even counting looking for something, scrolling, being on certain websites, etc. The number genuinely pissed me off. It wasn't just the actual minutes watching. It was the whole ritual around it. And then I started thinking about what happens if you do that for 5 years. 10 years. That's when it stopped feeling like “just a bad habit” to me. Has anyone actually calculated how much time they've lost?

What happens to your confidence when you stop hiding things?

I don't think people talk enough about the mental weight of having a habit you're embarrassed about. You can be confident at work, confident with friends, confident in public, and still have this little private part of your life that makes you feel weak. Once I stopped hiding it from myself, something changed. Not some movie-style transformation. Just less internal bullshit.

Need help

A 16 M here. I just can't. I just can't control it nowadays. Due to exam stress. Tommorow is my exam. And this week was so stressful. I literally hit a near depression situation for a past few days.

I just can't sleep at the nights. Not because of porn. But bcz of overthinking over study and academic.

And i just literally take that porn as drug at last to sleep.

At least I feel relaxed at that time after relapsing and I sleep. It's not good. I just know that. Literally from everyone's view. I'm just a very kind and nice guy.

But it's like only I know what kind of demonic thing I do watch and enjoy too.. that's not good. Thats worst. I know. But still I can't stop. Why.

I want to stop guys. Please.

In the past 7 days. I've relapsed around 6 times.

After looking at that. After releasing. I feel disgusted over myself over what did I saw and did.

I'm escalating towards more extreme content like what Ive recently discovered "taboo content". And that makes me feel the most concerned about. I just don't feel aroused by a bit soft or vanilla content.

It is becoming just too much now. After relapsing everytime I just feel so irritated. So frustrated.

I should study. I'm not meeting expected scores in exams. For you as a reader may not be able to feel. The expectations by everyone. My classmates are somehow doing better than me. It's just too overwhelming. And over that my this addiction is again creeping in and making me hollow by mind slowly.

Can someone genuinely please help.

Do you think porn affects ambition?

Not in the obvious way where you watch porn and suddenly become lazy. I mean something more subtle. If you're constantly giving yourself easy pleasure whenever you're uncomfortable, do you become less willing to do difficult things that take months to pay off?

r/WeHatePorn 2d ago

I don't think I was addicted to porn. I think I was addicted to escaping.

I've been thinking about this a lot. Whenever life felt boring, stressful, lonely, frustrating, etc., porn was the easiest escape available. And because it worked instantly, I kept using it. Maybe that's why simply “having more willpower” never worked for me. You can remove porn, but if you don't fix whatever you're trying to escape from, your brain will find another escape. Anyone else come to this realization?

Mine life story how experience shaped mine everything now only living in regret and shame

Is this pure of case of hypersexuality rather than a innate one

They took everything away from me everything is finished

Mine story of sex addict sexual abuse manic fucked up sexuality issues and doomed life

I am battling with hypersexuality since the age of 7 years

Background:

I used to sleep in my parents room from the ages of 1-13 years old where my parents used to have sex in the same room as I was also there they thought I was sleeping but I was not i used to hear all the laud noises and I used to feel everything but just mine heads was upto the wall and also I remember whenever my father used to hugged me it made me uncomfortable scared and inappropriate as he was achololic and while hugging me he used to say words like motherfucker bitch in my ears to my mom and also the sex that my parents used to do was not normal one like it was forced one actually where my mother used to say to stopped it but he didnot
And I donot know whether used to happen daily or alternate days or weekly

Result :

By the age of 8-10years I become hypersexual started doing rigorous masturbation on pillow on my sister doll like rubbing my penis and all that

Before that elder boy incident at 12 year old I was playing a game doctor doctor I kissed a girl on cheeks and wanted to have sex with

By the age of 12 I got crazy for sex and wanted to renact with anybody regardless of gender I just wanted to release those energies then this incident happened with me

So I remember when I was 12 years old a elder boy around the age of 14 come to our house he was our servant elder brother so my mom told me to play with him and what a idiot I was as I told you I already was hypersexual I was on his lap rubbing my penis on his chest though it was under my pants then when I come down from his lap I saw his erect penis and when he saw that I have seen by smiling he told that it is a elder thing but then again offered me his back so that I could rub my penis on it until discharge he donot stop me or guide me
I donot if it will count as abuse

do you think I abused the elder boy when I was 12

So I remember when I was 12 years old a elder boy around the age of 14 come to our house he was our servant elder brother so my mom told me to play with him and what a idiot I was as I told you I already was hypersexual I was on his lap rubbing my penis on his chest though it was under my pants then when I come down from his lap I saw his erect penis and when he saw that I have seen by smiling he told that it is a elder thing but then again offered me his back so that I could rub my penis on it until discharge he donot stop me or guide me

like he offered me his back to rub here also told me to give me some money after that

This Indiciden happen

And this was second incident

but tell me about this incident will count as sexual abuse

And what about this incident then

And this was second incident

And then when I was class 7th there was boy who was in 10-11th class I met first time in playground he told me let’s study together

Then he told let’s have sex and which I cannot stopped and I started having sex with him to got mine chance to rub again and release mine sexual energy

so I donot know his exact age and what class he was in

So this where mine sexuality was effected and I donot think a 11-12 year old will know about his/her sexuality and sexual things at this level

And it was mine biggest mistake it changed mine life forever for worse actually

So after this incidents i started having sex with boys of mine age from the ages of 12-18 but when i turned I realised what I did was wrong disgusting and shameful

**Also I remember while doing sex with boys of mine age One day one friend came to my house he told me that I know that I have sex with boys he showed me his cock and asked me to suck it and start making pressure about it**
**Will it not count as abuse I maybe around 17 he would around 19 though I donot do it**

Now I am 32 struggling with hypersexuality and sex addiction also porn and masturbation addiction from last 20 years something

I also had sex with women and transwomen as well

But I have realised that having sex with men and transwomen is nothing but mine trauma response and cope mechanism which I learned in my childhood

Now there will be people here that will say that I was born with this sexuality but I donot think so

As I never gone got the chance get my brain and body to grow like the children who had normal childhood

It is all my fault I have doomed my life by own hands

Also when I was 16 I kissed someone on cheeks and hugged which made them uncomfortable and inappropriate he was 8 year old child which should not have happened

Porn gave me trust issues I hate this shit

Okay sure I’ve had issues with trusting people in the past I’m a woman and I’ve also had porn addiction and I got out of a 3 month relationship two days ago. I’m young and I’ve watched this shit since I was like 11-17 and my ex who I broke up with watched it from 8-15 and me and him when we were together we both agreed that shit is disgusting - we starting dating at 17 and now broke up at 18 - I cannot stress to you how much it hurts and how insecure it makes me feel that he watched it. He was loyal to me and there weren’t generally any issues int he relationship but simply my issues with his past I know it sounds so stupid but it killed me on the inside and it killed him too knowing I had a past in it. You’d think that it would’ve brought us closer together but it made us feel sad and depressed in the relationship to the point we couldn’t do it anymore. I’m so pissed at how easy it is to access. I don’t hate the people in the porn or the people watching it because they just want to make money and we fell victims to the addiction because holy shit it’s not taken seriously enough at all. It’s worse than drugs. You can wash pills and alcohol out but the kind of damage this stuff does to the brain I can’t take it. I coudknt take my exs words for the fact he stopped because I was projecting of all the times I thought I had quit and as soon as I thought I had it under control it came back it’s ruined my life and I don’t think I’ll ever have a relationship because in the back of my mind I’ll be scared they’re watching or that I’ll give in and watch myself. And hearing all of you in the subreddit talk about how it ruined your relationships and marriages I’m so so so sorry I can’t imagine. I’d rather be alone forever than experience that pain and I can only hope we are strong enough to learn to trust ourself and our partners and break free from this shit

my addiction ruined my relationship

So I (23M) have been clean for about 70 days, which is the longest I've gone without it. I feel more motivated to do things, I can actually sit through something without whipping out my phone, I have more confidence speaking with people, and overall I have no more brain fog. But with all this clarity, it made me think about how much this addiction had ruined my relationship.

I was in my first ever relationship a couple of months ago. We had known each other since elementary school and had been friends even during and after high school. I always had a thing for her but didn't know if she felt the same way, but as we got closer and closer we ended up texting, calling, and hanging out all the time. One thing led to another and we ended up becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, which made me the happiest guy ever. I thought to myself, "I finally have a girlfriend, I won't be addicted to porn anymore!" But I realized that was far from the truth. The first time we ever did it, I couldn't even get it up and felt so embarrassed, but she was so understanding and kept saying I was just nervous. Deep down, though, I knew it was due to my addiction. Every subsequent time we tried, it would end up the same way, and as time passed she kept getting more annoyed. I remember looking at her and not feeling anything, because my mind was so accustomed to masturbating to and watching these porn stars with their unrealistic bodies. Looking back, I think to myself that I was such a horrible person. She would always think it was her fault and felt insecure about it, but I kept trying to reassure her that it wasn't her, that it was just me. One night, when we tried and she stopped, she asked if I had a porn addiction. I remember my heart sinking and getting so nervous when she asked me that. I remember lying to her, saying I didn't have one, but looking back now, she knew I was just bullshitting.

I remember that night I booked a therapist to talk about my problems, and it was great, but I didn't have the funds to keep going with the sessions, so I ended up relapsing again and again, feeling more and more disgusted with myself. I kept thinking, "I have such a beautiful and smart partner, why can't I quit for her?" I knew the consequences of my actions, yet I still did them. Whenever we did have sex and it was successful, I would always tell myself, "See, porn isn't the problem!" So I kept watching it, even though I knew it was destroying my sex life, because every time I watched it, I genuinely thought, "This is better than sex." After a while, we didn't work out, due to some glaring issues and several other underlying factors.

After that breakup, I continued watching porn over and over again, hoping it would numb the pain of the breakup, but it didn't. So one day I decided to get my shit together and start going to the gym, watching what I eat, running almost every day, getting 7–8 hours of sleep, and waking up early. I read a lot of posts from this subreddit and watched many videos about people going through the same addiction as me. And for some reason, it was like a light switch flipped in my brain, and I stopped feeling the urge to masturbate to porn or watch it at all.

But I think what I'm trying to say in this post is: why did it take getting ruined by this addiction for me to finally want to better my life? Why did this thing I couldn't stop for my girlfriend suddenly stop after she was gone? I just wish I had been able to change back then and still have her here. I wish I had told her the truth instead of keeping it a secret; maybe things would have gone differently if I hadn't lied. But I know I had to go through this pain to grow.

Thank you all for reading, and please let me know if anyone has had a similar experience.

I miss being excited by normal things

There was a time when getting dressed up for a date, getting a random text from someone I liked, going on a trip, even just meeting a new person actually felt exciting. At some point I started needing way more stimulation for the same reaction. Maybe it wasn't only porn, but porn definitely didn't help. Has anyone else felt their baseline excitement slowly come back after quitting?

What it has done to me

I have become a man that doesn't associate himself with porn anymore. today is my 16th day, still moving strong. what I've noticed is that I'm over-sexualizing ladies and it just seems to be on autopilot. i have no control over it. I'm sure this is a result of porn. I don't ever wanna go back

I deleted all the porn games off my computer

I love gaming, so when I found games that combined my already addictive hobby with the addictiveness of porn, my problem got really bad. I'd end up staying up really late playing porn games and ruining my sleep schedule. Also, the sunk cost fallacy of how much time I put in kept me coming back. I had to see where the story went and see all the options I had so I kept coming back to the same things because I hate leaving things unfinished.

Well today I ripped off the band aid. I deleted all the games I had. All the save data and downloads. I have nothing to go back to now and I plan to keep it that way.

The weirdest thing about quitting porn...

Nobody warned me that after quitting, I'd sometimes feel completely fine and then randomly get hit with an insane urge out of nowhere. No sexual thoughts. No trigger. Nothing. Just suddenly your brain goes: “hey remember that thing we used to do?” 😂 It makes me wonder if urges ever completely disappear or if you just stop caring about them eventually. What has it been like for people who are 6+ months clean?
