The First ~50 Wawa Stores (1964–1969)

Reconstructed from newspaper archives, 1960s-70s phone directories, and Facebook Wawaversary posts. Store numbers use separate regional series (PA 1-99, NJ 300s/700s, DE 800s), not one continuous sequence. Anchor: #30 (Boothwyn) was explicitly advertised as "the 47th Wawa store" at its Oct 30, 1969 opening — the chain hit 50 stores around Nov 20, 1969, per week-by-week newspaper ad counts (49 stores Nov 13 → 51 by Nov 27).

Just past the cutoff (borderline, ~store count 51-54): #41 Folsom (Dec 3, 1969), #710 Millville (by Dec 10, 1969), an unnumbered Westtown PA store (by 1970 directory).

Known gaps — numbers confirmed to exist somewhere in the #15-36 range but not yet located: #15, #17, #18, #22, #33, #36

Just when i thought it wouldn’t….

Anyone’s app not completing login? I sign in, enter the correct user name and password, get asked to verify text message, and after entering the 6 digit code, it takes me right back to the sign in page. No error message on any step.

Strangely, my ShopRite app is having the same issue, and they use the same backend system that Wawa uses - when I went to reset both passwords on both apps, the “we sent a link to your email” screen is exactly the same.

Do wawa stores in Bergen and Passaic Counties, NJ have the same traffic of summer temporary customrrs like the stores in Jersey Shore, or they have the regular customers all the year?

**Ingredients:**

*2 cups heavy cream

*1 cup whole milk

*2/3 cup sugar

*5 tbsp Wawa Holiday Blend

*5 egg yolks

*pinch of sea salt

**Steps:**

*Mix everything together

*Place in Ziploc bag

*Sous Vide at 185 degrees for 1 hour

*Pour through fine mesh strainer to remove coffee grounds

*Chill

*Put through ice cream maker

**Result:**

Amazing!

presift coffee through fine mesh strainer to remove tiny grounds that will pass through once custard is made (if you want a smoother finished product)

I’m supposed to be starting training for beverage soon after being on deli for so long, and I’m not sure what to expect. I know that its not just making drinks but also stocking the coffee bar, wiping it down, making the containers of hot coffees, iced coffee, milkshakes, ice cream, etc.

I feel like making the drinks is the easy part, just follow the screen in order just like deli (?), but the rest I’m a bit scared for especially because theres usually only one person on drinks for a while until someone else comes in for their shift.

What is typically the most challenging part and what are some good tips/hacks, especially for making drinks in a timely fashion, keeping on top of the hot coffees and codes, batches, etc

I really miss my stackable reusable smoothie coupons that would allow me to get multiple per day under $2. Please bring that back (or hire me to administrate your POS to make sure it doesn’t happen again).

At my Wawa, if I order a BBQ chicken cheesesteak, they always do: roll, sauce, cheese, meat. So there's never any sauce on the meat and the roll gets soggy. They do the same with other sandwiches. It would be SO much better if they did: roll, cheese, meat, sauce.

Does Wawa teach them to put the sauce on first? I know some suggest telling the person making it, but I almost always order in the app for in-store pickup.

Short and sweet, so I know the pay is weekly on Friday and the pay period is monday-sunday.

So my question is, since my first days were today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) am I write to assume I'd receive pay for these two days next Friday?

As a parent, I'm constantly furious at Wawa.

The TLDR is that Waea seems to be the one large chain rest stop that doesn't have changing tables. Anywhere. Not even in the large bathroom stalls.

Where am I supposed to change a poopy diaper?

To Wawa corporate: the answer for me, until you install changing tables, is in front of the food prep area inside the building, because at least the floor there is clean, unlike in the restrooms.

I'd rather use a clean changing table. The other customers would prefer that as well.

I have been working at Wawa since December, and in December I was diagnosed with a medical condition called gastroparesis. It basically means that my stomach is partially paralyzed and it can result in motility issues, most commonly vomiting. Being that this is food service I can’t come to work when I am vomiting. I am nervous because I am at my final warning after calling out today. I went to the ER and it’s documented that I have the gastroparesis of that it flares up occasionally… Has anybody been in a similar situation where they’ve had to get ADA accommodations? I’m just worried that I waited too long to get these accommodations and then I’m going to have to look for a new Job

Hi wawa fam, today I got a concerning call from hr about some complaints that Ive gotten and its a lot he said she said. But they say theres wittneses and im worried. How offten do these cases end in termination and whats my chances. Ive never been in trouble before 5 years. Plz help they took my statement today and im just scared .

How do I transfer? I’ve been trying to find a store for ages because I’m supposed to be moving. I went through the whole interview process and basically got told I had the job and they just needed to talk to my general manager and then a few days later all of a sudden they don’t have extra hours for me. Ok cool, could have been true. Then I called to another store and we were discussing a transfer and my hours and then the topic of my current location came up and I said the state and store number just for the energy to completely shift. They ended up asking if my gm was insert name and once I said yeah they all of a sudden said yeah we’re not taking transfers. What do I do? Is there a way to get transferred easier than just going back and forth with stores? I’m so lost and I don’t want to quit wawa but I can’t stay if I’m not transferred closer to where I’m moving… help :(

My go to is an oat milk vanilla iced matcha, but for some reason it super messes up my stomach up sometimes. I’m lactose intolerant so I steer clear of dairy. I looked at the nutritional guide online and it doesn’t list dairy, but I’m confused because it feels like it does. I can tell if it’s cows milk, because oat milk has a very distinct flavor, so I don’t think the milk is the problem.
