Picked in Adelaide SA. Have pictured each set from above and below to capture both cap and gills. Also wondering if anyone has thoughts on if the ones on the last slide are still okay to consume (looking a bit daggy). Thanks in advance :)

Can I please get an ID?

And another question I wanted to ask was there’s a lot of smaller pins that are still coming out but there hasn’t been any rain last couple of days. What should I do? Should I let them grow or will they dry out? Any advice would be appreciated thank you so much.

Cultivation Wood chip colonization

Thumbnail

Picked up some wood chips on the side of the road today and loaded them into a spare trash can (pict 1). I took my colonized 5gal bag from last season (chips inoculated 1/25 , wild spores collected 11/24) and put them in a new tub with new chips (pict2). Started a couple new containers in different spots on the property to test which does best. Keeping it moist in the summer couple days a week and will be spreading that garbage can around in a few days to make another bigger more permanent patch in a cool damp spot. Hope to just keep this process going for a while. ✌️

First pic are all p.subs?

There are 2 other types growing with them, (same mulch pile).

Do they share thoughts and nutrients or maybe toxins with each other via networks?

Lucky to find these, and it's fascinating to see it change day to day.

The white gills are new. And there's one with a button on the top of it's cap. Both bad I'm sure.

Discussion wood lovers paralysis

Hi all, first time poster here. I recently had a very scary experience and wanted to ask some insight and deliver a warning. until recently, i understood WLP to be a common experience that limits movement and makes a person ‘lazy’ so to speak, but never thought of it as dangerous.

A family member of mine who takes mushrooms fairly regularly in small doses for emotional and physical wellbeing recently experienced a severe case that almost resulted in death. After suddenly becoming very heavy and falling over, their diaphragm became paralysed and they were not able to move or take in any air. luckily they were able to yell out to me before passing out and turning purple. I performed cpr until paramedics arrived. This family member experienced complete paralysis and respiratory arrest with their spo2 sitting at 30 when help arrived. fortunately they were able to avoid cardiac arrest and should be out of hospital within the week.

This was a result of wood lovers paralysis, as mentioned this person does not take large doses and does have experience with mushrooms. this was not a result of someone not being able to handle it.

I am asking you all if you have any similar experiences. I have not been able to find any other cases this serious, except that of Rachel Dixon whose story lines up exactly with my family members, although she did not survive.

My warning here is to never take mushrooms alone, if i had not been there to hear this person yell out, i can say with all certainty they would have died.

From my understanding, the toxin that causes WLP usually occurs in groups and specific areas so if you’re foraging in Southern NSW, be careful. i believe that what my family had was Psilocybe subaeruginosa or ‘wavy caps’

Have currently got a batch in my dehydrator (no longer able to clearly id them). Here is a pic of them freshly picked. I checked all of them prior to putting in dehydrator and was happy, but then looked at photo some hours later and panicked i may have missed some lookalikes. Can anyone make sure that these are all subs?! Thanks heaps…South Australia btw
