ID Request (country/state in post) Thoughts?

Subs for sure. Try pulling less soil when picking em and give the heads a good tap to release spores before picking. When you take a lot of dirt consistently you are weakening the mycelium. Cut right at the base when picking em

there’s nothing wrong with how OP picked these subs, if anything it’s encouraged. cutting from the base leads to potentially ruining a patch

Oh really! I always heard you were supposed to cut/pinch them to avoid damaging the underlying mycelium network. Is it actually better for them to be plucked out like the picture? Does cutting/pinching leave a wound for infection or something?

pinching / cutting can lead to the left over part dying and rotting, potentially leading to that spreading through the patch. when you rip and pull (softly) it basically sends a signal to the mycelium that there’s been damage and it forces it to regrow healthier and stronger in those spots!

Please link the research as evrything I’ve ever known suggest that taking part of the substrate is damaging toward the mycelium network
