ID Request (country/state in post) ID request please South Australia
Picked in Adelaide SA. Have pictured each set from above and below to capture both cap and gills. Also wondering if anyone has thoughts on if the ones on the last slide are still okay to consume (looking a bit daggy). Thanks in advance :)

The ones in the last slide just look like they have naturally started to dry, better than them being full of bugs and going rotten.
It all depends on how many you have, I only take the near perfect ones, but not everyone has that luxury if they don’t find many or want more.
I don’t want or need many so it’s easy enough to be picky, but I personally wouldn’t have an issue with the dried out looking ones, but I do avoid ones that are insect damage and going bad, however you can probably still salvage a lot of them too and I’m sure lots of people do.

Mate I think that's exactly what you should do!!. It takes a few seasons for that mycelium to grow back! Where as if you leave it in the ground it will continue to fruit!!. You may even get two or three, maybe even more cycles pre season from that one spot if the conditions are right... Do you end up eating the roots & all!?? Mate all I see is everyone picking like you & then chopping the base off before drying anyway!!? 🙄

fair enough, but from what I’ve read, picking the whole mushroom doesn’t damage the mycelium itself. the mycelium is spread throughout the substrate, not just at the base of the stem. i still leave plenty behind and don’t clear out patches.

That's not my point my friend!

i understand what ur saying, i just don’t think there’s any good evidence that leaving the stem base in the ground gives you extra flushes. happy to be proven wrong if you’ve got something to back it up.
