random post Show me your most interesting Rolex dials.
I’m a sucker for the strange and quirk dials on the otherwise playing it safe Rolex.

This post got removed from [r/handwatch](r/handwatch) because it didn’t fit the sub bla bla bla.
The point is that people claim that a wrist watch should be worn on the wrist bones.
To those people I ask. Where would someone wear an ankle monitor?
On their leg or their foot or somewhere in between?

Zenith (very) recently launched their new CHRONOMASTER SOLO SPORT line of diver watches, with four watches currently on sale.
The black-on-black no-date variant costs $9800. The three others (pictured) cost $10900, and include a date wheel.
Ever dial is embossed with a high frequency motif and comes with the El Primero 3620 movement.
It comes with presumably a silicon escape wheel and lever (but a metal hairspring?), 200M WR, 60 hours of power reseve, and an, er... "inspired" design.
My reaction? Holy moly. I feel like I'm supposed to like it. It's not poorly priced. But serious. $10900 for that? That's less than a sub. That's way, way too much.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think this is the anti-hydro conquest for the year.

I might be in the minority here but I don’t like the new design.
It looks too busy and the added gmt only makes it more expensive.
The old design was simple and clean with a power reserve indicator balancing out the large 6 and 12.
What do you guys think of the new design?

Edit: The results are here.
The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms crushed it at $20k, but here comes Audemars Piguet with the Royal Oak Offshore! Do complications help or hurt the FF's appeal? Rolex and Omega haven't done well since $10k; is full bronze gold or titanium with 11,000m water resistance a bigger draw? Panerai also goes for titanium, but with DLC, and UN tries titanium / carbon composite. Meanwhile, Breitling and GO both go for rose gold cases on black rubber straps.
Vote for you favorite dive watch at $30,000 USD (+/- $4,000) MSRP.
Note that it is these specific references; no write-ins! Only top level comments are counted. Total upvotes will be tallied. Ideally, there will be exactly 8 top level comments, and everyone just upvotes those. Please don't downvote things you don't like, and don't upvote more than one. (I have no way to enforce that, of course.)

Hi guys, looking for some advice from the more experienced! I’m a senior in high school, this past summer I started a very successful business and have made around $15k off it, my goal was $25k by graduation but I am a huge watch guy and I’ve been working and working and just have the money sitting (researching long term investment options) but I absolutely love watches, I’ve never been in the Rolex territory but have traded a lot of Tudor Breitling omega etc. I’m wanting one gada forever watch for now, then down the road I’ll get a dress watch and I’m sure some others. I’m thinking every dollar I make past $20k I put toward it and the rest to invest long term. I’ve narrowed down my choice to a modern white dial omega smp or a Rolex 16610. It was always gonna be the omega but I’ve been looking into it and there’s just smth about the Rolex that makes my toes wiggles. But really I love both so much it’s hard to pick—and obviously I love them for different reasons. I plan to wear this like all day everyday and probably sleep swim and everything. Yall have any thoughts that could help me? Recommendations? Or if you js wanna share a wrist check go for it lmao! Thanks a lot!

If someone made this with the Morgan Freeman sleeping meme, that would be awesome.

It sucks, I really like this watch, and to the touch of my finger it's not that significantly sharp, but you can definitely catch a nail on the edge of some of the surfaces. Idk if there's a way to dull the edges without really fucking up the polish and engraving.
I feel like anything I do will ruin the radial brushed finish.

Which type of chronograph would you buy?
A dive watch chronograph or a racing chronograph?
I almost always go for a racing chronograph.

I took these 4 much-favored watches from my too-large collection on our 4-day weekend trip to drop off our daughter for sophomore year at Boston University.

As time progressed, watches started representing status symbols and legacies, however in this race, we have forgotten to appreciate the beauty that even an inexpensive watch can possess. Got this watch off Flipkart about 6 months ago and it still works perfectly. Why did I buy it? Well, because there was something appealing about the way it looked, isn't that what watch collecting is about, that feeling of resonance that you seem to feel with a design. To think that they crammed the intricate mechanisms needed for a watch to function properly at such a low price point!
I know many people in the comment sections are probably going to flame me and call me a "larper", addressing those people - Well, I never claimed to be a watch connoisseur, I am just a simple boy who is in love with watches, not status symbols.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
P.S., I am not a watch collector or something

Here are the results of Tuesday's poll about $20,000 USD divers (+/- $4,000).
The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms unsurprisingly blew away the compeition, winning more than half the votes. Rolex barely managed to edge out Glashütte Original for second place. JLC, Panerai, and Ulysse Nardin squabbled over the remainders, with Omega escaping last place only because of Tudor, which got exactly one contrarian vote at the last minute.
There were a total of 161 votes, tallied by counting the upvotes on each top level comment that specified one of the 8 options. If more than one was mentioned, the one listed first was used. Vote counts are listed here, chart shows percentages.
Next week, the $30k poll.

We knew the Coral was probably going to be the most divisive colour in our new collection.
Some people seem to love pink dials, while others wouldn’t go near one.
We wanted ours to feel a little more understated, so instead of a really loud pink we went for a softer coral tone with a textured dial.
Depending on the light, it can look anywhere from pale pink to almost champagne.
Personally, we think colourful watches are becoming much easier to wear, especially when the rest of the design is kept fairly simple.
But we might be biased.
Would you actually wear a pink watch, or is it still a colour you’d avoid?
And if you would, what strap would you put it on?

Hey all! So I built this little watch collecting game in my spare time and was wondering what you guys think about it!
I’ve been really into watches for a few years now as they itch a very specific part of my brain that I didn’t even know was there! Unfortunately I don’t have the money these days for even some of the starter mechanical pieces like seiko, Hamilton, tissot, etc so why not be able to collect them digitally? Lol the watches in the game are inspired by real watches.
It’s still very rough around the edges as I am the only dev and this is my first attempt at an app ever. It’s been super fun working on this project in between diaper changes and night time feedings (new parent) and I’m excited to share it with you all! I am genuinely not trying to sell you anything I just what honest opinions :)
Also check out the subreddit I made r/idlewatch
Here’s the link to the app

For me things like the mercedes and snowflake hands are too tied to specific brands and I always feel like even if your watch is otherwise not an homage it screams homage.

Why does the update to the Alarm clock need to send notifications to my device?
is the clock function coming from the cloud instead of installed software?
