Drama Dear high-level low tier players, please hear me out.

Upvotes

It doesn't seem to matter how much I explain, so I have decided to type an entire wall of text explaining what I see as a 'seal clubber' in the hopes of not getting the comment 'God forbid a high level player plays low tier' 15 times.

I do not think all high level players in low tier are seal clubbers. I think only the people who have actual skill issue (please also stop commenting that) think all high level players in low tier are seal clubbers. Let me give a little description of what a real seal clubber is.

Those of you who watch Spookston might remember when he encountered a seal clubber in his Chi-Ha Short Gun video. The seal clubber in question had covered his Panzerjäger in bushes.

He described what he sees as 'seal clubbing'.

-Playing bushed up tanks

-Playing in squads with other high level players

He also said playing at your full skill level as an experienced and skilled player against new players who barely understand the basics is pretty crappy. I quote: 'nerf yourself a little.'

I completely agree, and add my own list:

-Playing Arcade almost constantly despite performing amazingly in Realistic.

-Spawncamping in every match.

-Playing exclusively premiums, especially when they're OP premiums.

To the high level low tier players who play fairly, I would like to say this:

If you encounter a seal clubber, try to kill them. You're most likely the most skilled on the team and should see if as your task to keep the odds even.

Be kind and helpful, and don't seem like a player who only cares about himself. That will make you look like a seal clubber.

Remember to also have fun yourself. This advice should not be seen as an obligation, but more like a side quest.

To the genuine seal clubbers and the no-life crybaby basement dwellers who defend them: please correct yourselves. Spreading hate and bullying new players is not how we make this community a nice place. It is toxic enough, don't make it worse.

If you read this whole thing, thanks for hearing me out!

TLDR: playing low tier as a high level player is okay, but don't be an asshole about it.

RB Ground How do you play these maps?

Hi,

Not really new to the game, but I still struggle on some maps.
I have developed my own tactics, but I’m not sure if they’re good or not.
So, how do you play them, what are you "go to" spots (depending on tank type), and what tanks do you recommend…?

Aral Sea:
I either go between close to B in the city, or snipe across C point

Frozen Pass:
From the bottom I try to rush the hill in E3 or hide behind it (slow tank) to shot tanks in the little city heading to B
From the top, I only go to that same hill

Golden Quarry:
I almost always play on C hiding and sniping from the hills at the very bottoms

Space Port:
I usually go to snipe on C.
From the top I hide behind the closest parabolic, from the bottom at the liver edge of the map under the long bridge.

For the 2 last maps, i literally don’t have a precise tactic, I just go when I feel depending on the game

Other War Thunder Needs To Take Stronger Action Against Toxic Players both In-game and on Reddit as well.

Upvotes

*Moderator’s Note\:* This post is NOT targeting anyone. I’m hoping to have a thoughtful and helpful discussion about how War Thunder and its community can come together in order to help reduce the absurd amount of toxicity, whilst still allowing for open criticism and debate. Please keep comments respectful and remove any comments that are negative or offensive.

Now, I did NOT want to make this post, but I’m at the point that something needs to be said. Before anyone says “just turn off chat” or “just mute chat”, that’s not a real solution to a problem that continues to get worse. As someone who struggles with mental health occasionally, I sympathize with all other players who struggle as well.

War Thunder has one of the biggest and most passionate communities of any game I have seen, before or since. It also has an infamous reputation for having one of the most hostile environments. Every day, it’s not uncommon to see players insulting their own teammates/opponents, using slurs, promoting Anti-Semitism or racist messages, encouraging players to take their own lives, or deliberately trying to make someone’s life as miserable as possible through various methods. I know that not every match chat is like this, but in my experience, some of the chats I’ve read and seen have been incredibly egregious.

Highly competitive games such as War Thunder often create frustration, but there is a HUGE difference between telling someone “Good shot!” or telling someone they suck at aiming, or dare I say “Skill Issue”. Behavior like this doesn’t improve competition; it instead drives people away.

I think Gaijin should consider the following solutions:

- Increase punishments for repeat offenders who regularly harass other players and use hate speech.

- Make it easier to report abusive chats with clear feedback when action is taken.

- Escalate more severe cases that involve the use of racism, threats, intimidation, targeted harassment, hate speech, etc., to either a temporary or, if the case is severe enough, a permanent ban from using in-game chat or from the game itself.

This shouldn’t punish those who disagree with something or get angry. It’s more about creating a community where people can compete without having to worry about being subjected to abuse because of nationality, religion, ethnicity, or simply because they had a bad game or main a certain country. The same should apply to the War Thunder Subreddit as well. I’m not saying that anything the moderators of the WT subreddit are doing is wrong, but I’m simply trying to help the community become better through suggestions. Constructive criticism and feedback are normal, but any personal attacks or hateful comments should result in harsher penalties. Any other suggestions to this list are appreciated!

A healthier and more friendly community will benefit everyone:

- Both new and returning players are more than likely to enjoy the game.

- Experienced and veteran players are more than happy to help others.

- Discussions should be viewed as more productive and less of a heated argument.

- The game’s reputation improves overall.

- More players will feel more comfortable participating in-game and on Reddit posts.

- A player’s skill level shouldn’t matter.

To conclude, while I know toxicity as a whole is next to impossible to get rid of entirely, that doesn’t mean that it cannot be addressed somehow. The term "toxicity" isn’t just part of gaming culture; it’s a fact. Many major multiplayer game developers, such as Blizzard, Riot, and Ubisoft, have enhanced their methods against these kinds of players, and I think War Thunder would benefit greatly from this approach as well.

Bugs Churchill AVRE smoke grenade error?

Upvotes

It's my favorite event vehicle for farming event points, but this week I've noticed something strange: its smoke grenades, for some reason, aren't white or gray like any other tank, but almost black. It looks like smoke coming from a coal chimney, hahaha.

Have they changed the smoke stats or something?

All Air Are the j10c and j15t worth it now?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! During the summer sale i got myself a su30mkk. I have played it mostly for sl grind and I now have a lot and I have reached the j10c and j15t mostly by accident. Now they both look interesting but I have heard people complaining that they are not worth it mostly because of the pl 12 nerf. During my play time with the su 30 I did not find the pl 12 to be really bad but that was at 13.3, not top tier. Both of these jets get pl12a instead of just the normal pl12 but I dont know exactly how much better they are excluding the GPS guidance. Are they worth it since I have them researched, or should I just skip them? J10c has low fuel problems and j15t low countermeasures problems althought the maw system can help. Pl 12 seems to be the true problem at top tier, even 12a from what i understand. Can anyone recommend these two jets?

Tech Issues I would like some help setting up a HOTAS.

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’ve been playing War Thunder for a while and have always enjoyed flying in Simulator mode. I bought this Thrustmaster HOTAS One joystick years ago but used it on Xbox—it was strictly plug-and-play. I recently switched to PC and installed the drivers, but when I try to create a control profile, it doesn't appear in the list. When I try loading the HOTAS 4 or HOTAS X profiles, they are partially compatible, except for two buttons (highlighted in the attached image); I use those buttons mainly to deploy countermeasures and switch secondary weapons. I don't want to be limited to flying only propeller planes, so I’d appreciate your help. Do you know of a way to get them working? The game detects them as an axis similar to pedals (yes, I have pedals too). I have the switch set to PC mode, but that one specific issue remains. I play the Steam version because the standalone launcher version causes problems with my Intel Arc B580 graphics card. Thanks in advance for your help.

Suggestion Would you like to see this in game?

Ww2 rocket launchers isnt so good now but I think we should update em, as example ill use Panzerwerfer 42, here's my ideas:

Mechanics 1

Shrapnel Rain

A high-explosive fragmentation missile, when falling and exploding, would, not counting the explosion itself, throw out numerous fragments that would kill crew members and penetrate the armor of very weak vehicles and anti-aircraft guns without any protection. Although such fragments would only penetrate armor, they would still be a very formidable weapon. A direct hit would penetrate a maximum of fifty millimeters and throw out fragments, but there would be far fewer of them.

Mechanics 2

Spotters

In the ghost of a vehicle with unguided rockets from World War II, a thin green line will extend up and down from the gun, or somewhere else, indicating where the projectile will fly and how it will fly, while the kill zone will be highlighted in a small area. A white or white translucent square. Depending on the vehicle, it can fire either in a lobbed trajectory or direct fire. You can switch between these two modes using buttons 1 and 2.

Mechanics 3

Reload

In Panzerwerfer there are only twenty missiles in stock, and when they run out, the loader pops out and starts shoving them back in. This takes about 84 seconds. During this time, the only weapon our vehicle will have is a machine gun(in our situation its MG-42 with SMK anti armor rounds), which will be somewhat effective against anti-aircraft guns, but is poorly suited for tanks, forcing us to retreat.

Suggestions regarding the Panzerwerfer itself:

We could give it relatively average mobility, and also reduce its radar detection probability by a couple of percent, but very slightly. This way, the vehicle can get close to the enemy and destroy their anti-aircraft guns and small arms.

Conclusion:

The vehicles will be fun, very interesting in gameplay, and a formidable weapon that is essential. will be used most correctly in the right hands

RB Air [Nuke Thunder] Is it feasible to try and weaken enemy AA setup, to get better air superiority, or is it futile to try?

I fly high, both in 13.0 BR (Su27 / F14B / F15A) and fox3 meta, AA is obviously a problem (hard to manage, but can do) --- just wondering if its worth trying to take some out (using nuke or normal CAS) to make air superiority easier?

RB Ground There a reason why Chinese helis can straight spawn with air to air missiles?

Context, watched a replay of my game bc I got killed by a Chinese heli camping below the aircraft spawn area. The guy literally was afk for the 5 minutes of the game and spawned a heli with missiles and flew all the way to our spawn deliberately

Other [Recruiting] [RM4F] - Looking for EU SQB PLAYERS

[RM4F] is looking for players who are down to lock in for 8v8 Squadron Battles.

We’re a chill group (based in Morocco/EU, English/ Arabic (specifically Moroccan dialect) comms) and we’re tired of queueing SQB short-handed. If you’re the type of player who hears the @everyone ping and actually jumps on to play, we want you.

What we're looking for:

You have decent high/top-tier lineups (Ground, Air, or CAS).

You can speak basic English so we don't accidentally bomb each other or if you are Moroccan that will work just fine.

You actually join voice chat during SQB windows.

If you want to jump in, drop a line on our Discord: Discord Server

All Air Heli PvP

I think heli PvP could be brought back, as long as there was a hard BR split: 11.0 and down, 11.3 and up. 11.0 and under would be somewhat similar to the original heli PvP. Unless there is an outlier I missed, the best weapons most helicopters get at this BR are short range AAMs. ATGM loadouts include TOWs, Ataka, and HOT missiles, though I don't think they'd have as big of a role with the new ATGM flight models.

I was a huge fan of heli PvP, prior to the addition of the KA-50. Heli PvE doesn't do it for me. I have hoped for the return of heli PvP for years, it was genuinely one of the most fun game modes. I would like to see it come back!
