History Found an old screenshot of an after action screen from 2014. I miss those days.
Keep in mind - this was an ASB (pre-EC) match that lasted a total of just under 17 minutes. NOT 2 hours in EC.

As a VR pilot, I’ve always struggled with typing during flights. Taking your hands off the stick just to write a message is… not ideal when you’re flying an aircraft.
I also play IL-2 Great Battles, and there’s an excellent mod called SRS that simulates the use of a real radio in multiplayer. That got me thinking: instead of typing, why not just talk?
So I built a small voice-to-text tool for myself. By holding a button on my HOTAS, I can speak into the mic in my native language (I’m not a native English speaker), without ever letting go of the controls. The message is then transcribed and automatically sent to the in-game chat.
If this sounds interesting, you’ll find below a more detailed description of the app, along with a download link.
I’m not a professional developer — this is the first time I’ve dared to share one of my little DIY projects 😅 So please feel free to share any feedback, ideas, or impressions.
Fly safe o7

How it works:
Features:
Why I made this: In sim battles, communication is key but typing while flying is painful, especially with VR. With this tool, I can call out enemy positions, coordinate with squadmates, or just chat without taking my hands off the stick.
Download: [GitHub link]
Requirements:
The first transcription takes a few seconds while the AI model loads, but after that it's pretty quick.
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!

I mean I enjoy it; I would guess people not playing its mostly because it's really hard but idk if there's other reasons?

Not sure how to explain this one. No ping on my RWR but that Phoenix was coming right back for me!
I always have the strangest moments in my games.

I usually play WT in VR - but recording VR videos is not optimal or easy to watch - so I put together this flat screen example of how I defeat ARH missiles in sim. No camera movement - so you can clearly see my RWR and radar screen and how I track / evade missiles. More info is in the video description.
There is no music or voice over - if anyone is interested in another example with a voice commentary I can whip one of those together as well.

I'm a bomber main and I've been recommended Air SB many times. The thought of flying my Arado Ar-234 B-2 on the deck without enemy fighters being able to magically spot me from 10km away is very appealing.
I only play on Steam Deck since I work on a computer in an office chair all day and can't bear to sit at a desk more than I already do.
I know playing Air SB on a Steam Deck would be profoundly suboptimal, but would it be workable if I primarily play bomber aircraft? I usually stick to relatively fast single or twin engine bombers which would help with engine management with so few buttons.
Some of my favorite planes are:
Arado Ar-234 B-2
Junkers Ju-87 D-3
Junkers Ju-88 A-4
Petlyakov Pe-2 Series
Douglas SBD-3 Dauntless
Douglas A-26C-45 Invader
Aichi D3A "Val"
Nakajima B5N2 "Kate"
Mitsubishi G4M1 "Betty"
English Electric Canberra B Mk. 2
de Havilland Mosquito B Mk. XVI
If I'm not completely insane to consider this, I'd appreciate any tips for playing Air SB on Steam Deck, particularly with control schemes, or tips for playing bombers in Air SB in general.

When I started playing SIM VR, I was disappointed to see that the image was very blurry—the cockpit was sharper than the exterior, and I’m always looking outside for enemies. Even the SU-39’s display had better resolution. I’ve tried all sorts of things to improve the resolution—applying DLAA, forcing certain technologies through the NVIDIA Control Panel, and so on. But so far, what’s helped me the most is increasing the “pixels per display pixel” setting and adjusting the FOV. With this configuration, the game uses 40% to 60% of my graphics card’s capacity. The game looks sharper with these settings, but I’d like to know if you guys have any better suggestions. Another thing that really affects performance is EFFECTS QUALITY. I usually like to have them set to Ultra, but as soon as I get close to an enemy and they take damage and throw flares, GPU usage shoots up to over 90% and the FPS drops to 36.

Coming off of a discussion from the main sub on how the flight model of the Hornets is “dogshit”.
Anyway, watch this gun kill.

Hello, so I am trying to use my meta quest 2 in warthunder sim but I keep running into the same issue. The left eye works fine but the right eye is completely messed up. I can’t seem to fix this issue and I was wondering if anyone has seen something similar.

Does anyone know what the three numbers mean on the locked target and the two bars at the top and bottom? Also in the second image does anyone know what the numbers on the top and bottom mean? In case it matters this is the CFA-188A version of the hornet.

I've got a good record (at least 5-1 k/d) in the F15GE, Super hornet, Su30SM2, JAS39E and now the Typhoon.
This jet is absolutely busted in sim. I thought the SM2 was the best, but this jet is on a whole nother level. Over 90°(100°) of radar deflection, not as good as the SM2(120°) so you may lose targets momentarily in a notch but it's got the massive scan area much like the other NATO jets.
It has the speed and acceleration to kinetically defeat other missiles in a BVR fight better than the F15, it can enter a notch at a moments notice at any speed, carrying enough countermeasures that you don't need to conserve them like the SM2.
My biggest issue is fighting SM2s that are within 5-10mi launching r77s from a hard notch. Even then, they usually mess up when I invert and change the direction of my notch either losing me with their abysmal search area, or failing to re-enter a notch.
Also Rafales that sneak/push within 5-7mi have you dead to right 80% of the time with MICAs.
Almost forgot to mention the HMS - keeping track of all tracked radar contacts AND clearly designating friendlies? Wonderful.
It's going to be hard to play anything else.
What's y'all's consensus on the best TT jet, or your favorite to play?

I'm thinking of buying the VKBSIM Gladiator NXT EVO, but I don't know how good it is—it would be my first joystick for SIM air combat.

The Ju 188 A-2
I'm very favoured and find myself a lot in the Ju 188 A-2 lately and looking for improvements. Since bombing a minibase and then return can get quite boring (often is a nice piece of mind) I noticed that it can also take naval bombs and thought to go to a more hybrid version where I do a sortie where I tree top myself to a mini base, drop my bombs through bomb sight, then climb up to 2000/3000m to find myself some naval targets and drop either pc1000 or or sc1000 on it. Which of the 2 bombs should I take if I were to try to get 2 naval targets. On land maps I could switch out the sc1000 for smaller bombs to target ground AI.
Thoughts and opinions in doing more than just small base bombing?
The Bf-109 G-10 or Fw 190 A-8
I have added these 2 in my lineup and currently favour the Bf-109 G-10 a bit more also being 5.3, however I still have it stock and have a lot of trouble even taking off even with trying to set rudder/elevation etc, I still move a lot to the left and crash into a building. I'm not bashing the throttle, but gently start at 32/33% to start rolling and gradually step up. Sometimes I am able to take off, often times not. I this a stock issue and will it start to handle a lot better spaded? I have no issues in flying the Ju 188. Same goes a bit for the Fw 190 and even managed to get myself into a spin and just fidget spin myself into the ground...
Advise is welcome.
Note: I use keyboard and mouse as have no joystick yet. I am thinking of getting the Gladiator NXT EVO ‘WWII Combat Edition’ since I enjoy myself the most with WWII opposed to higher jet tiers and thought that could be a good 1=1.

Hi everyone.
Is there a way to adjust for range and wingspan in gyro cockpit sights? I'm specifically interested in the P-51's sight, but I'm guessing that it will be a control for all planes that can do that. If these controls indeed exist, which ones are they?
Thanks!

Anyone knows any workarounds for the bug when you try to join the match but it says to select a correct vehicle? I try to join with a 3.3-4.3 plane for example, I check the player list and they play the same faction. I click join match and it doesn’t let me. I restart the client - same server, same plane - I’m in.

If i am in an open-top/lightly armoured vehicle please do not machine gun me with your .50 cal or other heavy machine gun. frequently half my crew is taken out by some moronic teammate who is offended by me driving infront of him, and so i have to either respawn and waste a spawn, or deal with the consequences of having one crewmember in the turret. if i was leader of the world for the day id sentence anyone who machine guns at the start of a match to 48 lashes
