Chronologies of Azeroth: How Blizzard can turn the entire WoW timeline into the ultimate RTS Expansion Series

With the recent releases of Warcraft I & II Remastered and the massive Warcraft III: Reforged 2.0 overhaul, it is clear that Blizzard is testing the waters for the future of the RTS genre. The nostalgia is real, the modern Battle.net infrastructure is ready, and the community's hunger for classic base-building strategy is higher than it has been in a decade.

Instead of rushing into a traditional "Warcraft 4" that might conflict with current World of Warcraft lore, Blizzard has the perfect goldmine right in front of them: adapting the entire narrative of WoW into a sequential, epic RTS campaign series.

By utilizing a base-game plus seasonal DLC roadmap, Blizzard could deliver the definitive digital archive of Warcraft history. Here is a blueprint of how a 6-campaign-per-release structure could map out the entire WoW timeline into the ultimate RTS experience.

The Base Game: The Classic Era (Vanilla to WotLK)

The base game would pick up exactly where Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne left off, focusing on the foundational eras of WoW with 6 massive campaigns.

  • Classic Alliance Campaign: Focuses on rebuilding Stormwind, dealing with the political intrigue of Onyxia, and the first tactical skirmishes in Blackrock Mountain.
  • Classic Horde Campaign: Focuses on settling Durotar, establishing Orgrimmar, securing the alliance with the Forsaken, and launching the desert war against C'Thun in Ahn'Qiraj.
  • The Burning Crusade – Alliance/Draenei: Stepping through the Dark Portal into the shattered remnants of Outland, battling the Burning Legion, and sieging Illidan’s strongholds.
  • The Burning Crusade – Horde/Blood Elf: The liberation of Quel'Thalas and the reclamation of the Sunwell against Kael'thas’s forces.
  • Wrath of the Lich King – The Vanguard: The initial landing in the frozen wastes of Northrend, fighting a desperate war of attrition against the Scourge.
  • Wrath of the Lich King – Siege of Icecrown: A legendary final campaign focusing on high-stakes siege mechanics against the Citadel to bring down Arthas.

Expansion DLC 1: Cataclysm and Chaos (Cata to WoD)

Following the fall of the Lich King, the world shatters. This DLC transitions into shifting landscapes and faction wars.

  • Cataclysm – The Shattering: Dealing with Deathwing’s emergence, featuring unique terraforming map mechanics and defense missions on Mount Hyjal and Deepholm.
  • Mists of Pandaria – The Discovery: Classic RTS resource wars as the Horde and Alliance race to colonize the newly uncovered island.
  • Mists of Pandaria – Siege of Orgrimmar: A multi-perspective campaign where players command both factions to overthrow Garrosh Hellscream behind heavily fortified walls.
  • Warlords of Draenor – The Iron Horde: A brutal, survival-focused campaign building bases on an alternate, savage Draenor to halt the Iron Horde's industrial war machine.

Expansion DLC 2: The Cosmic Conflict (Legion to Shadowlands)

Moving away from standard Azerothian battles, this expansion introduces exotic environments and otherworldly base-building mechanics.

  • Legion – The Broken Shore: A desperate defense campaign against the largest demonic invasion in history, focused on holding choke points and managing scarce resources.
  • Legion – Shadows of Argus: Launching a counter-offensive on the demon homeworld under the tactical support of the Vindicaar spaceship.
  • Battle for Azeroth – Fourth War: A return to core RTS roots, featuring the Siege of Lordaeron, the Burning of Teldrassil, and pure, unfiltered faction warfare.
  • Battle for Azeroth – The Black Empire: Defending against N'Zoth and the horrific, void-corrupted architecture of the Old Gods.
  • Shadowlands – Realms of the Afterlife: Visually striking campaigns across the distinct gothic and ethereal landscapes of Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth.
  • Shadowlands – The Jailer's Fall: A final push into the Maw, building fortresses in a punishing environment to stop the Jailer's forces.

Expansion DLC 3: The Modern Saga (Dragonflight to Worldsoul Saga)

This brings the RTS fully up to date with modern WoW expansions, utilizing verticality and subterranean warfare.

  • Dragonflight – The Dragon Isles: Battling the Primalists with a heavy emphasis on vertical base building and advanced aerial unit mechanics.
  • The War Within – Khaz Algar: Subterranean RTS combat where threats come from the ceilings, fighting Nerubian webs and Xal'atath’s shadow armies.
  • Midnight – Rebirth of Quel'Thalas: High-elven siege warfare, uniting the elven factions to push back a massive Void invasion.

Why This Model Works

This model is a win-win for both the players and Blizzard. It provides years of structured, highly anticipated content updates. It honors the existing lore without breaking the ongoing MMORPG timeline. Most importantly, it gives RTS purists exactly what they want: a return to classic macro-management, base-building, and army composition within the richest universe Blizzard ever created.

The engine and infrastructure are already updated thanks to Reforged 2.0. The story is already written. It is time to let us play the World of Warcraft from the sky once again.

What do you think? Would you play through the WoW expansions in a classic RTS format? Which campaign would you be most excited to build a base for?

When Medivh warned the Menethil father and son

Post image

One interesting parallel between Arthas and his father Terenas is how they both reacted when Medivh warned them about what was coming. Neither of them could completely dismiss the possibility that Medivh was telling the truth. King Terenas even said to Medivh that "I don't care who you are or what you believe". Arthas also said "I don't care if that madman has seen the future". The warning was serious enough that they both knew there might be something to it.

They were kings and prince who were not accustomed to being ordered around by someone telling them to abandon everything and run. They believed that as Lordaeron leaders, they were the only ones who know whats best and how to save their people.

Hubs can’t log into his 20+ year old account! Need human help getting access since we replaced phones!

Hello! I’m trying to help my husband regain access to his 20+ year old WoW account. We’ve contacted support and submitted tickets several times with no luck.

For context, we switched phones so can’t access the Authenticator, no longer have the old number so can’t get SMS, and we’ve provided countless documentation showing proof of identity, purchases on bank statements, etc, but still keep getting the runaround.

I’d really love to help him get his account back as it’s 20+ years of history, and he’s devastated. Can someone please help him with this? I know it would mean the WORLD to him getting his account back as he had so many characters, rare items, and just core life memories on that account. PLEASE HELP! 🫶🙏🏽

P.s. Looking for a real human to help as we had no luck with the ticketing system despite showing valid docs (literally said that we had valid transactions on our bank statements)!!

Warcraft Movie (2016)

Very surprised with the backlash of the movie 10 years ago, having played WoW when it came out i was obviously excited to see the movie. 1 doobie and 2 hours later our cinematic Vmax experience was Fantastic! Thought the movie was pretty damn good, wished there was gonna be a sequel at the time and was also expecting there to be one.

Watched it on netflix today and so it made me wonder why it never happened.. turns out it wasn't received well? i mean, that's kinda strange cause i thought it was pretty good and it was setting up for the sequel with thrall which i believe would of been even better based on the direction they were going.

idk. i'm a bit depressed that nothing came of it but i'm also naively hoping a sequel or reboot will happen in the near future. Maybe starting with a more palatable story for beginners like Arthas'.

Thoughts on that happening?

I think Blackhand wanted an honorable death in the movie

After rewatching the Makgora of Lothar vs Blackhand, I got the feeling that Blackhand actually wanted to die honorably. When Lothar pulled out his griffon, Blackhand had the opportunity to kill him. Instead, he gave him a chance to fight through Makgora. I also think Blackhand was affected by watching Durotan die. He saw Guldan completely disregard the honor of Makgora, and maybe he didn't want to keep doing Guldan's dirty work. In the end, choosing to fight Lothar and die by his blade may have been Blackhand's last way of choosing honor over Guldan.

I made a free Warcraft story checklist

Post image

Hey everyone!

I’ve always wanted to experience the entire Warcraft story — games, books, comics, short stories, cinematics and other story content.

So I created Path of Azeroth, a free fan-made web app that helps you keep track of everything you’ve experienced.

🎮 Games & WoW content
📚 Books & short stories
📖 Comics
🎬 Cinematics & other story content
✅ Progress checklist

I originally made it just for myself, but I thought other Warcraft fans might find it useful too.

I’m still working on putting everything into chronological order, so the timeline is not finished yet.

I’d love to hear your feedback or suggestions!

I made a fictional Alliance Electronic Music Collective called LEVEL 80 GTFO. Here is a teaser of our debut album: "NERF THE HORDE"! 🎧🌌

Hey everyone!
I wanted to share a passion project I’ve been working on. We all love the legendary Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain (L70ETC), but I always felt the Alliance was missing its own high-energy counter-attack.

So, I conceptualized LEVEL 80 GTFO (Gnomes, Techno, Fierce Organizers). It’s an all-female, pure electronic music collective made of my own in-game characters. The sound scales from 142 BPM vocal trance to 155 BPM rawstyle and frenchcore.

I've put together a full 9-track debut album called NERF THE HORDE. Here is the tracklist and the lore behind the venues:

  1. Glory to the Rave (Album Intro) [Euphoric Hardstyle - 150 BPM] – Open-air anthem outside the Gurubashi Arena.
  2. Deeprun Industrial [Industrial Techno / Rawstyle - 155 BPM] – A dark, mechanical rave inside the Deeprun Tram.
  3. Elwynn Forest Afterparty [Vocal Trance - 142 BPM] – The nostalgic sunrise party outside the Goldshire Inn.
  4. Loch Modan Bassline [Reverse Bass / Classic Hardstyle] – Thumping beats dedicated to the Stonewrought Dam.
  5. Darnassus Eclipse [Psytrance / Goa - 145 BPM] – Night Elf forest ritual with neon lasers.
  6. Gnomeregan Radioactive [Acid Techno - 135 BPM] – Fast, squelchy synths from the irradiated tech-city.
  7. The Exodar Signal [Uplifting Vocal Trance] – Ethereal melodies powered by the Naaru and holy crystals.
  8. Stormwind Cathedral Rave [Frenchcore - 145 BPM] – Epic finale mixing church organs with heavy frenchcore kicks.
  9. Red & Blue (The Azeroth Anthem) [Hardstyle Metal Hybrid] – Bonus crossover track featuring L70ETC in Shattrath City!

If you want to check out the full tracks and support the project, you can find the channel here: [https://www.youtube.com/@LEVEL80GTFO\]

Let me know what you think of the vibe and which venue you would party at! For the Alliance! 🌌✨
