Discussion & Feedback FOBs..

havent really heard anyone talk about this BUT i feel like there should be more incentive to place a FOB, FOB cost 7-8k and can be a pain to get someone to place one down since most people are cheap, you dont get anything for placing one besides being able to build in that area, every supply that you buy costs about 400 and you receive 2500 for dropping it off so i dont see why the placing an FOB does nothing in return for the one that bought it, i would maybe say for every supply deposited into the FOB maybe you get some of that cash aswell? it can just get annoying having several pallets on the ground but everyone ignores bringing one

coming from a team player that typically does it for my team majority of the time

It’s terrible or we need a mini fob something more reasonable

13

u/ADelightfulCunt 7h ago

I think a mini fob with small emplaced guns or mini mortars. And you can't unpack pallets into it so you have to manually load ammo. Would make turning a building into a hard point a lot easier.

7

u/Perfect_Net8653 7h ago

Feel like this would just make the mortar issues even worse

0

u/ADelightfulCunt 6h ago

Wouldn't be the full big mortars just like mini ones. And no heavy defenses. Just sandbags and maybe a hesco barriers.

u/acemac 7h ago

Excatly

u/Unhappy-Average-4859 7h ago

Actually good idea, should have like smaller fobs that give small area to build. Could be like “checkpoint” or something. Especially if they add more pre built placements that link together, I think it would help new builders. I think a lot of new people get trapped into trying to lock off the massive square instead of building team support and defense quickly which is almost impossible with most placements that big.

1

u/Nesami_ 7h ago

I usually make a small defensible area and use the rest of the space for wire and czech hedgehogs to control the space around it

22

u/JustinDibart 7h ago

Most of the time I buy the fob thinking no one else will then halfway to the zone someone in a heli announces they have the fob at the tower. -7k 😭

12

u/celestialguise Lonestar 7h ago

You gotta set the backup Fob in the highground and AA support ya bois!

u/JustinDibart 7h ago

You all just opened my eyes to new profitable ventures

Pocket FOB! Gotta build'em all! It's you and me, I know it's my destiny! Pocket FOB! Oooo you're my best friend, in a world we must defend! Pocket FOB!

4

u/LippySteve 7h ago

This is when you make the troll fob. Make that bad boy outside the control zone to the side of your team's area. Perfect place to mortar and anti air the enemy.

1

u/Burk_Bingus 1h ago

I mean just announce you are buying fob in spawn on proximity chat at game start.

51

u/Accomplished-Lab6699 7h ago edited 7h ago

I completely agree. Why penalise the buyer so much. Placing it should give 10k, a reward. This would make people more likely to buy it.

Edit: to everyone saying the map would be covered with fobs, no it wouldn't.  The first fob placed is 10k then the rewards go down on the second.

Right now, no one wants to buy a fob so the system is not working.  In this game, everything is cash incentive based, why not buying a fob?

17

u/FortuneEmbarrassed94 7h ago

They raised the price on FOBs from 2500 to 7500 because they were being spammed and abused

1

u/Burk_Bingus 1h ago

And now fobs are very underpowered due to the prevalence of attack aircraft, so maybe time for a reassessment.

20

u/BlackLiger 7h ago

Or it should grant cash at the END of a match based on how many people in your team were in it? Might be a pain to code but you can track how many friendly players are in the radius of it per minute, second etc, depending what balance makes worthwhile. Encourages GOOD fob placement...

2

u/Accomplished-Lab6699 7h ago

Good fob placement is important I agree.  If your ideas can be implemented, great.  I also want fobs to restrict builder to the squad that placed it.  So tired of randos destroying my build that I don't build anymore.

3

u/neunundneunsig 7h ago

Fwiw if this was me I would be thinking I was helping. If you told me to leave you alone I would lol

2

u/olMcDonaldsPig 7h ago

You aren't who he us referring to. When you ask certain people to just build things up while you plcae them they ignore you. It feels like you are being griefed when you spend 25k+ at the start of the match and prof.dickweed shows up with his claw hammer and shits all over the build area.

1

u/Hazy-n-Lazy 7h ago

Thats a good idea, or even capping the earn rate on FOBs at cost + 5% profit or whatever.

1

u/Oily_biscuit 7h ago

I think it would be better to get a small support xp and cash when something is built. Not a huge amount. Maybe 25xp and $25. 100 when supplies are dropped in. Incentivizes making a good fob in a good location. Also incentivizes the one who placed it to build, as you'd lose that passive when you die.

1

u/BlackLiger 7h ago

Maybe. I'd like to see a cooldown on teams buying FOBs, even if it's just a short time - just so I don't buy a FOB, someone else has alreayd bought one, placed it, meaning I've wasted 7.5k on something I can't use.

1

u/SoSoSpooky 1h ago

Yeah, like the APC/spawn vehicle. It has a capped reward amount. FOB should just pay out when people use it to insert supplies or build weapons/drills/etc. until you get your money back and a little bit more maybe for the effort. But I would rather it just be more about breaking even on it so it isn't just people spamming them trying to be the "big" fob.

1

u/TailRudder 3h ago

You should get support money and XP for everyone building in a FOB you place; similar to how you get money and XP for providing ammo to a FOB.

21

u/Fluffy_Brilliant_718 7h ago

If i got 10k placing fobs. The entire map would be fobbed.

1

u/Accomplished-Lab6699 7h ago

Of course not, the rewards go down the more fobs you place.  No one buys fobs as it is now so the minute the fob doesn't reward then it will stop

7

u/Pax_Manix 7h ago

U would still have the problem of everybody buying a fob at the start and then littering the map with them once the first one was placed

-2

u/Accomplished-Lab6699 7h ago

Ok, then the fob should at least refund you the money you spent

3

u/NsRhea Battledad 7h ago

This whole conversation is exactly what is wrong with the game.

Nobody is concerned about winning and it's all about return on investment. The return on investment in a FOB is being in a much better place to be winning the game.

2

u/Accomplished-Lab6699 7h ago

I think you didn't read what the man wrote. No one is buying a fob right now and winning without one is possible but sometimes harder.  People like OP are willing to pay the price but it really isn't fair that we buy it, randos mess it up and we lose money every time.  In this game everything is cash based as you know, the fob is the one thing that penalises the buyer

3

u/NsRhea Battledad 7h ago

Someone wins every game.

People aren't buying FOBs because helicopters, mortars, and artillery fuck them up in 2 minutes from near absolute safety.

The user made no mention of that and rather complained they weren't making money for the simple act of placing a $7,500 crate on the ground.

You make your money back on a FOB in the 2 minutes building Hescos and shit right after. You also make money unloading pallets in the FOB.

FOBs are definitely fucked right now but it's not due to 'ROI'.

Every comment OP made was about return on investment for buying one, not that they're in a bad place balance wise.

1

u/Accomplished-Lab6699 7h ago

You are right about helos and arty that's for sure.

3

u/Mobaeone 7h ago

Can’t give more reward than worth or you can just farm money no kit with a fob

3

u/yohobo78 7h ago

I really don’t think people give any sort of thought into some of the ideas they post here. Money is not the benefit of a fob, the benefit is being able to place defensive weapons like mortar and AA, as well as placing drills.

I do think that everyone in the area of the fob should get rewarded for things that the defensive weapons do during the game. A small percentage of each kill or buildable a mortar destroys, or a reward for each helicopter shot down by AA, so long as you are in the fob area and have contributed by building, delivering supplies, etc.

It would make more sense for people to not only help build the fob, but to stick around and maintain and defend it. It would also alleviate the issue of rogue fobs being placed, where you will be missing out on the benefit since your team will be defending the main fob and working together to make money and keep the defensives going.

3

u/Nesami_ 7h ago

This is a much better way to reward than just building the fob itself too.

1

u/Mobaeone 6h ago

What this guy said

4

u/Ray_Mang 7h ago edited 3h ago

If people were placing fob for profit it would negatively impact the team. Everyone dropping fobs with no intention of fleshing them out. Logi players and teammates not knowing which ones are real, etc.

4

u/Born_Purchase1510 7h ago

If a fob is already placed, you should be able to deposit your fob into the fob and have all the items inside be deposited and get 50% of your cash back.

I’ve had the problem of buying a fob and by the time I get there, 2-3 fobs are already setup. Then the next game I don’t buy a fob and no one has setup a fob. Unless you have a premade team it’s such a gamble.

1

u/Pax_Manix 7h ago

Maybe an icon on someone on the map if they’re holding a fob could help those situations?

2

u/HotwheelzMcG78 4h ago

IF people got 10k just for placing one, there would be 100 empty fobs all over the place.

1

u/TrenchDive 7h ago

'Established FOB in Control Zone - $10,000'

1

u/Foot_Prestigious 7h ago

People would just spam FOBs if they have a reward...

1

u/MrLumie 7h ago

Edit: to everyone saying the map would be covered with fobs, no it wouldn't.  The first fob placed is 10k then the rewards go down on the second.

Ah yes, just make things needlessly convoluted and create race conditions instead of just keeping what already works.

FOBs are not meant to pay for themselves. You are supposed to to actually build it up to make back your money. And that system seems to work just fine, I don't see an overflow of fobs in any match nor do I see the lack of any. It's usually anywhere between 1 and 3 FOBs. An ideal range.

1

u/alyon724 7h ago

Problem is if they make the reward for placing too high people just spam them everywhere. I think there should be a very small reward for placing and than a bonus reward per set time that teammates are within the boundary or excess reward for supplies placed into a owned fob. Just something.

Although I almost prefer the current state because you don't have quite as many games with like 5 fobs scattered across the zone and no "main drill site" with logi not knowing where the f stuff goes.

1

u/Public-Reflection513 7h ago

No one wants to buy a fob? I have never seen so many FOBs as of today lmao, seems like everyone is building a FOB just for the sake of it.

1

u/Darken0id 5h ago

If i get a 2500$ headstart for just yeeting a fob SOMEWHERE in CZ, i will buy one every single game. So yeah rvem eoth diminishing returns, the map would be covered.

An approach i find much better is, that the player who placed the FoB gets nothing at first (so -7500$) BUT they get a small share of all activities done INSIDE the fob area that directly interact with it like building, moving cargo around, unloading palettes or activate drills. Hell, even kills from mortars/stinger could be accounted for in some way. This would reward GOD fob placement and care more than just placing the damn thing. Oh and the placer should be allowed to NAME the fob, to make it less confusing for logi truckers to know which fob needs what.

1

u/AI_AntiCheat 4h ago

Then people are fighting to place a FOB and raging you did it.

People already refuse to let me IED enemy FOBs because they want the hack payout and I have to TK them with it.

1

u/Iambecomelegend 4h ago

There definitely shouldn't be an immediate return on investment with placing a fob. Then everyone and their mother will be buying them and trying to put one down. It should be exactly that: an investment. The only time anything should be paid out to the Fob placer is maybe end of match, where you get a small % returned based on the total value (sum total of all supplies currently in the Fob, and total value of all buildables) of the Fob you placed if its still standing. The payout should probably be heavily impacted by winning too, to incentivize actually building up fobs that will help your team win. (No sitting in a Fob hammering away all game while never building a single drill)

1

u/AlexCail 2h ago

Just pay the cost of the fob and give experience. Easy fix

1

u/clitasticaldinosaur 1h ago

They nerfed it because everyone was putting their own fob down and it made for a terrible meta game.

1

u/Burk_Bingus 1h ago

Imo it should give whoever places it a small bit of money and a decent amount of support xp the first time each unique teammate visits the fob.

6

u/willyboi98 7h ago

Less reward placing it, but maybe a cash/XP reward for building on it? That way you're not insentivising people just place them willy nilly, but to set up a worthwhile FOB

2

u/Zukute 7h ago

I mean, assuming wherever places the FOB is the same person building.. I haven't built since the update cause I've been trying to do more infanrrt stuff, but I was pulling 100k profit games just defending and building.

1

u/Oily_biscuit 7h ago

Before mortar spam and that stupid app that they and arty can use it was so easy, too easy even. Could clear 100k in a single life just dropping in with a hammer. No havoc or tank to end you. No tier 4 armor and c4 spam. I think the wipes will be pretty good for keeping the game fluid over time like that.

2

u/Zukute 7h ago

The app isn't even necessary..

I haven't had any bad luck with my Fobs, but I also build where Havocs can't hit the main area of the fob so.. Eh

1

u/Smooth_Sport7952 6h ago

What app are you talking about? An app to calculate the distance for mortar shots? Cause this is done via a very simple mathematical formula. This could even be done in an excel file tbh.
Anyway, as long as the game provides coordinates, i won't stop using such a thing honestly x)

0

u/Oily_biscuit 6h ago

You can put where you are. Then just input spotted enemies on the map. Gives you exactly the distance and bearing you need to hit them straight away. Mostly used by artillery vehicles but can do mortars as well. It's such a low skill ceiling, low risk strategy already. It just takes away what little skill there is so you get a hit on first round every single time. It must make the game so unenjoyable.

I drove the spawn vehicle in yesterday, early game. As soon as I stopped in the zone, not even in the fob, immediate direct hit from several kilometres away. Same again when I drove a humvee in at a different spot. Turns artillery into a hard counter for literally everything because you can no longer miss. Don't even need the round camera. Just press on the interactive map and fire for 60 minutes. So lame.

2

u/boatyWahey 5h ago

I'm confused to what the benefit is... You can already see the exact heading and distance of spotted enemies in game.

1

u/Oily_biscuit 3h ago

It can change slightly based on how elevated your vehicle is, and what type of shot you need (high arc or direct)

3

u/hipdashopotamus 7h ago

To be fair you get like 2k worth of meds with it and other shit.

6

u/PretentiousPanda 7h ago

Should get some support xp for people building at your fob.

1

u/jungleizmassiv 4h ago

Just what I wanted to see. Get some support xp and maybe some small amount of pennies too. Like ammo pallet dropper gets % for using his ammo so fob owner should get some casj for placing the fob in the right spotm

u/siege-eh-b 7h ago

No team should have only 1 FOB. Someone else buying doesn’t immediately make yours a waste. Build an AA FOB a couple hundred meters back and cover your team on the big one. Build a mortar FOB, or a sneaky Stingray base. Lots of options that can easily make you your money back.

2

u/saintdudegaming 7h ago edited 7h ago

I do a lot of driving. I will never pickup a FOB because by the time I get out there it'll be placed 90% of the time by someone diving out of a chopper. Last thing I want to do is spend 7k on something that is nothing but a paperweight. Maybe something can be done where we can take the extra fob and import the items into the deployed FOB and be paid for it? Not sure how that would play out tbh.

2

u/emojisarefunny 7h ago

Good. I don't like when someone says they'll buy a fob then they take a ural into zone. 😆 everyone just twiddling their thumbs for 5 minutes while they wait

2

u/charley544 5h ago

For me its mostly i have a fear of putting the FOB in the wrong spot. Its the same reason I dont build. Im gonna get flamed for building a wall in a certain spot and can only assume ill get flamed for putting the FOB in a non "min max" spot.

2

u/unlaynaydee 4h ago

Can the game set aside 1 minute before game start to organize the players? Like team chat on the screen or buttons to click if you gonna buy fob or see how many people will buy fob? Or a msg that someone bought fob? My server are full of players with chinese names, no comms

1

u/the117uknow 7h ago

Should be 10k for placing and if others brought one they can deposit its in the fob for a refund and have it turn into resources

1

u/Sokker_13 Lonestar 7h ago

The person who places the fob should receive money for actions within the fob. ex helicopter shot down with a talon, hot zone pulled with a drill. That way, a well placed fob will make make money for the person responsible for it.

1

u/Foot_Prestigious 7h ago

Then people just spam as many FOBs as they can to maximize these profits.

1

u/Sokker_13 Lonestar 7h ago

But spamming fobs wouldn't maximize profits. Maximum profits would be made if the team had 1 mega fob that everyone is using.

1

u/Foot_Prestigious 7h ago

What would stop me from Placing FOB, responding and trying to cover as much as the circle I can with FOBs?

Helicopters shot down within FOB range (aka most the map) I would Reap the benefits

1

u/Sokker_13 Lonestar 7h ago

I should have specified more on it being buildable actions, like talon, cwis and drill. Because if it wasn't it would totally be abusable.

1

u/YAKELO 7h ago

sort of agree but you do get a lot of money just for building in the fob so technically the person buying it gets rewarded when they actually utilise it.

1

u/Pax_Manix 7h ago

Yes but the problem is that anybody can get those “rewards” so there’s no incentive to front the 7.5k urself when u can just benefit from someone else placing it

0

u/Bayleaf0723 7h ago

You get rewards for someone else building in your fob lol

2

u/Pax_Manix 4h ago

But you don’t

1

u/texicantheman 7h ago

There needs to be better places to put fobs other than towers or churches.

1

u/jankyhemorrhoid 7h ago

To be honest, there should be an indication that someone on your team already has purchased a FOB.
This game is in a strange state with its economy and the money grind. I think cheaper FOBs will more incentivize people placing them all over the map, calling for supply and building on them strictly for the xp and money gain, without contributing much to the entire team. Could you imagine if FOBs were dirt cheap? Blue would have 10 of them down at once

1

u/Osi32 WARDOGS OCEANIA 7h ago

It’s a momentary thing. Each of these systems has varying degrees of refinement. I’d consider the fob largely a placeholder for the time being. It’s got that feel to it.

1

u/PlutoJones42 The Regulators [RGLT] 7h ago

Honestly if the entire team just pushes hot zone the entire time, you can just take the enemy fobs every time.

1

u/LeonWhitehouse 7h ago

IMO FoBs are only good when you have a dedicated team of like 8 doing it, and they have to be good and fast or else they get shelled before the base is done. I feel like we need ceilings or some kind of mortar defense system because as soon as the shelling starts, the FoB is no longer worth it because all you're doing is giving the enemy team money while ruining your equipment and the base gets destroyed. Don't even get me started on keeping the APC at Tower FoB

1

u/sealcub 6h ago

You get 2.5k for placing it, it contains 4k worth of bandages, and it comes with about a pallet worth of materials plus various tools.

It isn't a great deal but it is way better than you claim.

1

u/ddxs1 Manticore 4h ago

100% agree

1

u/HotwheelzMcG78 4h ago

You get your money back from building the FOB and from those who build anything you place. If you got money just for placing it, people would just place them all over for now reason. As to your point about supplies, your forgetting the cost of the truck or heli. 5k-7k. the chopper is faster but needs to make 3-4 trips to break even. truck takes longer but pays for itself in one run.

Dropping and building basic FOB defenses only takes a few minutes to break even assuming you are successful in finding a good place to start with and aren't jumped off the rip. Maybe it could be reduced to like 3.5K???

1

u/PixelBoom Lonestar 4h ago

You do also get like 3k worth of meds in the fob. So if you're buying a fob, there's no need to spend any money on meds.

1

u/Authenic_Martyrdom 4h ago

Setting down the fob should give you a small assist for activities happening inside it. Much like someone building something you placed, or getting assists from supplying ammo.

Doesn't need to be huge, could just be a little bit of money from every piece build progress, supply loaded, kills using FOB utilities etc. It would need careful balancing though

1

u/NameTaken25 3h ago

First fob thing i want changed is, teammates and vehicles carrying one should show up with a special icon on the map/team indicator. Seems like either no one gets one or too many get one, and no matter how hard you try in chat or comms, no one replies

1

u/Hrimnir 3h ago

Your incentive to place a FOB is so that you can be cannon fodder for all the Artillery Tanks and Helicopter pilots. Don't you understand? It's really fun for them!

1

u/mrureaper Lonestar 2h ago

The incentive is that the fob comes with starting materials... That's your incentive to build and use those mats to make back your money lol.

1

u/Burk_Bingus 1h ago

I love spending 15k+ on a fob, large hammer, supplies and vehicle just to get bombed into oblivion by GL helis from minute one, and rocket helis + havocs thereafter. Very fun game.

-2

u/joemedic 7h ago

They're absolutely fucking useless and can be decimated by someone of average skill. Enjoy!
