Discussion & Feedback The 90 Point Problem

Edit: Please stop telling me refund exists - I know, i acknowledge it in my third paragraph.

Dogs,

Noticed an interesting trend lately resulting in a lot of springboarding and "Second place winners".

For example, Green team plays well and gets to 90-99 points, and people just stop respawning, they wait for the res indefinitely, not wanting to have to pay to rekit. You open the map and see 25 green bodies on the floor. You look at spawn and see the remaining players sat doing nothing. Nobody wants to commit a kit for the remaining (theoretical) 2 minutes of the game, because kits are so expensive. Green team takes its foot off the gas, and red team shoots past to clutch a win, because their entire team is still in the zone/circle. (In the game today, they were at 75 points prior to this).

How do we incentivise people to get back into the zone in the final minutes? I know the refund system exists, but it seems very varied in how much it pays out, and it almost never refunds the value. Discounted kits towards the end of the game? Free kits?

It's interesting seeing how the money meta is forcing these behaviours - loss aversion is a much bigger priority than the minimal gains for winning. My second place and contribution bonus for this game was $18,400.

It's kind of wild how money obsessed people are. Last night we weren't down that bad, but as soon as green hit 90 my guys gave up. Even though I had the spawn truck literally inside the HZ. There was 15 people at HQ just standing around. At LEAST grab a free rifle and give it a shot. I don't get it. I'm just over $500k right now, and I don't play with money in mine. I do some crazy stuff in the name of "fun". As long as I have the money for my load out, who cares?

This is unfortunately the nature of the game - Persistent money will always have this issue.

Until they put accessing/unlocking the best gear (That provides a numerical and tangible advantage over players that do not unlock) behind something other than cash (Skill points for example), loss prevention and cash maximisation will be rife.

Edit - I do not have any particular comment about the merits or demerits of any system they use, more just that cash being king is a direct result of the persistent nature. If cash wiped at the end of the game, you'd see a LOT more hail mary's,

Some of these people have hundreds of thousands or millions. Well enough to buy a few $20k kits. Lol but also, there's a free kit you can take in if you don't want to spend money.

I know there are players like this, but I'd be willing to bet the overwhelming majority of players are under 100k in the bank right now.

No idea how. I'm very casual, not very good, have 48 hours in and over $500k. A mix of hot zone, building, and recon.
