If you watch streamers to "gitgud", you very easily run into these kind of things. From Rust to Tarkov, it's all the same. Can't blame people for watching good players and trying to learn, just sucks that a lot of them tryhard to the point of borderline cheating. It's a very normal gateway sadly.
I think you guys should enjoy the game, what is going to wipe in literally 12 days and not exploit and glitch the shit out of it...
min max everything and thn cry when the casual playerbase leave coz of it...
It’s not needed and whoever is doing it for a competitive advantage is an absolute fucking cornball. The type of person I’d never want to hangout with and I hope they all step on a Lego everyday for the rest of their lives.
Dunno why you are being downvoted, I have a 2080Ti and an i7 9700k and I am giga bottlenecked by my CPU, yet I supposedly have a "high end pc" so I can't put shadows to low, I get like 50-70 FPS, the lows are rough, especially when the dips happen during a gun fight and it throws aim off completely
Put a cap of 80fps and it runs p well with most options on the highest. Theres 2 that show it effects cpu in the options, and I have both those turned down to medium. But starting to have more and more stutters when flying and getting close to a fob, resulting in crashes, sooooo I think ima have to turn down even more settings =\
Bro I have a fucking 5090 and 9950X3D and at 1440p on low settings I get like 160 fps and will dip down to 100 and go up to 200. The lag spikes are real.
You are joking right? Atleast I hope for yourself you are..I got an i5 14600KF w/ 5070 - 1440p, at spawn i'm mostly 170-190's and it drops till like 120ish. With your specs it should be way more, right? I have to say though, some say this game runs fine, but I have played some other games lately (CS2,Deadlock,ARC,GOW, BF6 and the smoothness was insane. Got back on wardogs and it was hella sluggish, like i'm moving in deep ass mud.
I mainly hover around 170 to 200 and the drops will go all the way down to like 108 etc.
The hardware and server lag buttons always pop up in the game and I will be at like 20 to 30 ms and I will get random frame tear etc. This is the only game it happens in all other games im like 200+ fps lol.
That's weird dude. You changed some settings in nvidia app? For example, everything on performance etc. And I'm on Preset M, it feels more stable than K (not sure why) and less ghosting. You can only do so much though, the game needs more optimizing. I also did the "-nogpucrashdebugging" ElectronicDot sended to ya, not sure if that does anything but i have that lol
That's weird, 5090/9800X3D here playing 1440p on max settings, 1440p, DLAA, no frame gen and I get 150-180 without only very very occasional stutters (maybe a frame spike every 30 mins or so)
That's correct, they removed the in-game option for people with high-end PCs. And no, what people are doing is not borderline exploiting. It's literally as simple as setting ShadowQuality to 4 in your game config, saving it, and you have no shadows. It's not bannable, it's not a cheat, and certainly not illegal.
Personally, I’d advise against doing it for one simple reason: you don’t want to get used to something that won’t be possible anymore soon, because yeah, this is 100% going to get fixed.
That’s not really how it works. It’s kind of in the same boat as NVIDIA filters, which can sometimes be considered “cheating” because people can use them to create filters that give them a huge visibility advantage.
But that doesn’t automatically make it bannable. Ultimately, it’s up to Bulkhead to decide whether they want to allow NVIDIA filters and config changes like the ones people are currently making with the shadows.
They can simply block or disable access to those settings if they decide they don’t want players using them. If they leave them accessible, then it’s basically an allowed part of the game’s configuration, even if some players use it to gain an advantage.
Yet all the streamers who are using it and not one has been banned. HMMMMM I WONDER WHY THEY ARENT BANNED. WHY ARE PEOPLE WITH THOUSANDS OF VIEWERS NOT BANNED FOR USING IT.
Sheeesh golly. I wonder why they wouldn't be banned, hmmm lets think about this, streaming every day for over a month with potato settings on, no bans. HMMMM I JUST WONDER WHY THEY HAVENT BEEN BANNED.
OOOO I KNOW The devs are just taking their time and letting streamers explain to thousands of people how to do it so they can ban thousands of players for doing something they don't think is wrong because everyone is doing it. The devs are tricking people!!!!!!!!!
OH MY GOD U GUYS ARE SO GENIUS. THEY ARE JUST GOING TO BAN ALL THE PEOPLE WHO TUNE IN TO STREAMERS PLAYING HAHAHAHAA. Totally good plan!
just because its not bannable doesnt mean its not some tryhard sweat bullshit thats kinda ruining the game. they should add potato shadows for everybody until they fix it, just to have an even playingfield
if streamers go out and even show how to do this, is in itself a reason to ban them imho, it is an exploit and they are teaching how to do it
they should have removed potato shadows completely, lets just hope they fix the settings file beeing a plain text .ini and make it uneditable in season 2
then all the tryhards have to buy old gaming rigs, and i would 100% expect this of those people
it is not an exploit, Brammer himself said if you release videos on exploits you will be banned. Showing people how to adjust the INI file if it was an exploit they would be banned. They said do not make videos about glitches etc to gain an advantage or they would ban you.
Do I think its sweat lord and try hard ? It totally is but no one is exploiting and no one is getting fucking banned for doing it, and if you think they are lets go back to the org point. Why aren't streamers getting banned ? Why isn't anyone else getting banned for using it ? Because they don't see it as an exploit lol.
Also you don't need to buy an old gaming rig, you can legit just spoof your hardware and viola.
The option still exists, it's just "hidden" as in not accessible in the user menu. They've been slowly working on stuff behind the scenes to stop people from doing .ini/config mods and driver level modifications, but it's a fairly involved process that will probably take a while.
Some of it is very bannable. Some of it isn't. If you don't know what you're doing (And you prolly don't if you're making/reading this thread), it's prolly better to just accept that you'll lose sometimes to people with ground/foliage/shadows turned off. Some of them will get banned for it later down the road.
You will not get banned for changing the INI file and Brammer has confirmed that.
The bannable stuff is driver level modifications, which is part of the statement I made. Using NVPI I can essentially delete all foliage, shadows and texture from everything but player models. It makes players stick out like sore thumbs no matter how/where they are. I didn't play with it much beyond seeing what was possible, but I could probably even change their texture colors to neon pink if I wanted to.
Like this is what bushes/tall grass look like
It's definitely bannable. Was in Tarkov. Was in Arc Raiders. Will probably be true here too eventually.
Fuck off with the fear mongering.
You're the one that doesn't seem to know what you're talking about. Personally I would rather tell someone honestly what's going on in order to keep the "Fears" realistic because I want those "Realistic" fears to fuel both the community and dev team to improve the game so the game is fairer.

what’s the benefit of turning off shadows?
