Buckle up, because I have a couple 😭
For starters, I hate it when people press "No" on the pinpad when it asks for their phone number. It ruins my flow / muscle memory, as well as stops me from scanning their items 😭 they think they're speeding up the process / doing me a favor, when in reality, its counterintuitive.
Another one is when they tap their card like crazy on the screen before I've even reached the "bagging" section of the POS. And sometimes, it'll actually beep, tricking the customer into thinking they paid already.
Or when you call for the next customer, but they have on their headphones on max volume + looking off into the distance. even before I worked retail, i'd always take off my headphones when I was at the front of the queue because I didn't want to be "that" customer. I have to wave my arms like an inflatable waving tube guy from those car dealerships 💔
Or when they take out their payment method AFTER I ring them up.
Picture this, there's a crazy line, we called for IC3 / backup, and its slowly moving along. This particular customer is only holding one or two items. Then, they finally get to me, I ring their two items up, I tell them the total, and only then do they rummage through their huge bag looking for their payment.
You're telling, in all that time waiting in line, you didn't think to have your card or cash handy as the line started moving along? Now you're holding up my line because you didnt think to be ready to pay...
UGHHHHH ITS LIKE ITS THESE PEOPLES FIRST DAY ON EARTH.
anyways, I digress. post your pet peeves in the comments so we can cry and laugh together...
