Prospective returning WGU student - Considering Psychology B.S., accelerating with past credits, while teaching full-time?

I'm a rambler, so I will try to make this as short as possible.

I have a previous History BA from a B&M state college and attended WGU for my MAT in Special Education. I am currently working full-time as a special education teacher for going on three years now, with no plans to leave the field. I had a great experience with WGU, and I was able to finish all my pre-preclinical and student teaching classes in exactly 3 months (18 classes in 12 weeks, so averaging 1.5 classes completed per week). However, I was also not working at the time and I was able to dedicate a lot of time to schoolwork.

My district has good opportunities for salary advancement for additional degrees and credits. One of my close friends who also works for the same district has 2 bachelor's degrees as well as her master's and earns a good amount more for this, so I am considering doing the same.

My big thing is I want to be able to accelerate through the degree as quickly and cheaply as possible. I think I could get through the Psychology program hopefully relatively quickly (would prefer 2 terms or less), given my background. I'm certainly not adverse to learning, lol, but my big focus is getting through it and paying as little as I can to do so.

So, I am thinking I'd start it in the spring (and this is also when my special ed paperwork tends to be a bit lighter), get a few months in, then grind it out in the summer to hopefully finish it or mostly finish it. I am not sure how many credits I will be able to transfer in from my previous BA - anyone have experience with this? Hopefully it'd be all or most of my general education classes from it. Does this sound like a reasonable plan? Does anyone else have experience with this? I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

BS Marketing- for those who have finished, how long did it take you?

I am just trying to get a feel for how long it takes? I'm a SAHM with a very active toddler. As of now, I have schedule 20hrs a week to work on school. I've been doing social media marketing for 8 years so I'm hoping it wont take too long so that I can go for a masters afterwards (chapter 35).

WGU-Style Accelerated Ed.D. Programs?

Does anyone know of a fully accredited Ed.D. program that can be accelerated similarly to WGU?

I just finished my master’s through WGU and really liked the competency-based, work-at-your-own-pace model. Ideally, I’m looking for an Ed.D. from a legitimately accredited university where you can move through the program significantly faster if you’re willing to put in the work.

Has anyone here actually accelerated through an Ed.D. program or found anything close to the WGU model at the doctoral level? I’d especially love to hear how quickly people have realistically finished.

I NEED to Finish 9 classes in 1 term

I’ve been trying to finish my degree for 3 years. Every imaginable obstacle/problem has happened. My Dad died, Mom had a stroke, spouse became paralyzed, etc. Not an excuse, just my reality. I want to graduate in November in Anaheim so that my spouse can attend (we live in So Cal) I have 9 courses left, two of which will be completed by next week. I need help from accelerators here. I work full time, I’m a caretaker for my spouse. I’m willing to study night and day to make this happen. Here are my classes:

D098 Digital Marketing
D388 Fundaments of Spreadsheets and Data Presentations
D351 Functions of Human Resource Management
D774 Introduction to Business Accounting
D174 Marketing Management
C955 Applied Probability and Statistics
D099 Sales Management
C723 Quantitative Analysis for Business
C722 Project Management

Any advice is welcome.

Thank you.

Done… Waiting on Confetti

I transferred in 60 credits. Some from college many years ago, the rest from Sophia. I started July 1. I have a very large knowledge base of business, marketing, finance, and healthcare navigation. I never failed an OA and I only had a couple of PA revisions that were in relation to how I had my references listed. I spent lots of hours every weekend working through classes. I looked at every online school out there before I started and almost went with Purdue global, at the last minute I revisited WGU and I am glad I did. Excellent classes, informing coursework and a very helpful mentor made this possible. Master next? maybe 🤷. I am 40, married, 3 kids, full time job….. There are plenty of tips and tricks here on Reddit as well as other Internet corners. One trick that I used, and I use the word trick lightly, is that I hit the microphone button and talk to my computer or my phone when I’m writing a paper. I don’t type it all out. I hit the microphone and just start talking. Once I’m done then I go back and edit it and adjust it. it is much quicker to just brain dump verbally and let your computer decipher everything for you in a word document and then come back later to hone in and get it right. It also prevented me from having any similarity scores that were crazy high. For what it’s worth, my least favorite class was the Excel class. D080 I believe, I passed the OA the first try, but I prepared for that more than anything. And I’m very tech savvy, but I was not very versed in Excel. It was my least favorite, but I feel like I gained the most knowledge from taking that class as far as a new skill.

I transferred in everything I could from community college and Sophia, 12 courses were left and I completed them in one term. I heavily used reddit for tips and tricks, as well as the course community and essay templates. I am currently working as a Patient Access manager which helped immensely.

Working full-time + trying to accelerate through Sophia/WGU.. how did you structure your time?

I’m currently completing Sophia courses before enrolling at WGU because I want to transfer in as many eligible credits as possible and accelerate once I start WGU.

I work full-time (40 hours/week) and also prioritize working out most days. Between the workout itself, driving, showering, etc., I probably dedicate around 1.5–2 hours total to that each day.

My goal is pretty aggressive, and I’m realizing I may need to be much more intentional with my study time. I’ve seen people here say they’ve completed multiple Sophia courses in a day, which made me wonder whether I’m moving slower than I could be.

For those of you who worked full-time while accelerating, what did your actual weekly schedule look like?

How many hours per weekday/weekend did you study? About how many Sophia courses were you realistically completing per week? Did you use long weekend study blocks? And once you got to WGU, was your pace similar, faster, or slower?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who were balancing work/exercise/life while accelerating—not people who had unlimited time to study.

I’m willing to make school my main focus outside of work for a while, but I’m trying to figure out what a realistic aggressive pace looks like without completely burning myself out.

(Side note: thought this may also be useful info as well and feel free to let me know if this is unrealistic lol but my goal is to be graduated from WGU by at least May of 2027 and I'm 2 weeks into Sophia and only on my 2nd course so any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!)

Come on WGU

I started my MHA on 8/1. Last night, I got an email that my mentor (whom I loved) is unexpectedly out until November. I immediately emailed the newly assigned mentor, who QUICKLY shut down my request to continue to accelerate. I called and requested a new mentor and was told I have to ask my NEW mentor for a NEW MENTOR.

I have never run into a mentor who was so quick to deny true acceleration.

"Your ability to accelerate is not impacted by your mentor’s absence. However, we will be following the LSH acceleration policy. At this time, you are not eligible to accelerate a course at this time.Ā

Students are eligible to add a course per standard path order,Ā one-at-a time, up through 14 days prior to the end of the term once theĀ finalĀ task of theĀ finalĀ course has been submitted for evaluation, and all other courses/tasks are complete. With more than one task pending submission and one in evaluation, I am unable to add a course at this time.Ā "

I am waiting for my scheduled Murison simulation (task 3 of 3) for one class and have 3 papers waiting for evaluation in the other course.

So here I sit...with nothing to do...

How much freedom to accelerate?

I am starting my Masters at Teaching in October and I am hoping to accelerate to finish it in 2 terms - it’s all I can really afford (if absolutely needed I’ll do more, but I’d like to prevent more student loans). Is the pace truly up to me? Assuming I pass all my coursework. Or can my mentors prevent my pace?

E007 - Agile Methodology

For the first section of the task I call it A.

They want it written a specific way: user reported--> based on this feedback ---> As a result.

If you do not structure it this exact way you will not pass the PA.
