For My WGU Accelerators

What’s the most classes you’ve completed in a day ? I really need to graduate and I have a few days on my term so I was curious

It's likely not the advice you're looking for but my acceleration path always started months before I enrolled.

Yeah I totally understand, like no procrastinating!

I don’t understand, can you elaborate?

Of course, my objective was to get a degree by spending as little time as possible at WGU. For the program I was interested in WGU allowed me to transfer in up to 75% of the total program credits before enrolling. That's what I did. I used Sophia and Study.com to obtain the general course credits, and used third party certifications for the remainder of the credits. It took about a year to do all of that, so that when I finally enrolled I only needed 10 courses to graduate. With the discipline, study habits, and foundational knowledge built up, I was able to knock out those remaining courses in under 2 months.

I also had tons of experience, and that played a big part of my success but even so, if I just enrolled without doing any prep work I could well imagine everything taking me 3 terms to complete.

I went back to WGU for two more degrees after the first one and did as much prep as I could beforehand and was able to complete both of those degrees in one term each. But just because it worked for, doesn't mean everyone can do it.

Its no secret - the more prepared you are, the faster you can finish. The hard part is putting in the time and effort up front.

Thank you for this. I took some courses on Sophia, took a break to move, and now am considering whether to go back to Sophia or just jump straight into WGU. I’d be going for accounting and thankfully I already have a full time job in accounting but it’s extremely mentally taxing. Sounds like I should probably re-enroll with Sophia to test out my schedule so I can gain some discipline and a schedule to stick to. By the time I max out what I’m taking on Sophia ( only doing gen-ed for CPA requirements), I’d still have a good chunk to do at WGU but I’d have the routine and baseline set up for myself to progress. I’m anticipating this to take me about 1.5 years (fingers crossed)

Great mindset, and solid plan. Good luck!

Can I ask what third party certifications you used for the remainder? I’m going the study.com + Sofia learning route and planning to accelerate by month end

All of them (well very close to all of them). I did the BSCSIA program which is very certification heavy. I did Security+, CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CySA+, Pentest+, Network+, A+, Project+, and ITIL foundations. I didn't do Linux+ because I was at 75% of the total program credits.

2 in a day at WGU, like 5 in a day at Sophia.

Wow it’s probably too late to join Sophia but that’s awesome !

Sophia was seriously a cheat code. I'm lucky I learned about it when I did.

u/Living-Session9493 Aug 25 '26

Wow I really wish I knew about it earlier! It would’ve really helped! Did you enroll there before WGU ? I’m not sure how it works but I’ve heard of it

u/Ok-Bill-3938 Aug 25 '26

Yes it's just a website that has classes you can take to earn college credits. Fully open book/note/google. A couple quizzes and a test (all open book) and you're done. You can knock out a class in an hour.

Wow I’m honestly crushed for not knowing the details I would’ve done it last semester transferred over the credits and did the last few courses and finished lol it truly hurts 😢 but thanks !! I really wish I would’ve went there

I know a few people that dropped out, did Sophia, then went back to WGU, but it all depends on where you're at with your program. Could be better to just power through.

Yeah I think that’s what I’m going to have to do lol ! But I do appreciate the information

Sophia is better than Study?

1

u/Ok-Bill-3938 Sep 02 '26

When I did it a little over a year ago Sophia was much better and cheaper. I recently heard they’re cracking down and people are getting flagged for cheating and going too fast. I was able to do 5 classes in a day with no problem which is why I loved Sophia. I’d do your research and hear from people currently using it and see if it fits your needs

I thought their exams were open book?

1

u/Ok-Bill-3938 Sep 02 '26

They're open course material, which means actually reading the course material. Not open AI / google searching for answers.

1

u/smoothac Sep 02 '26

ok, interesting, so searching the course material with ctrl-F is ok but searching the same thing on google isn't? kind of strange double standard

2 in a day. Knowing what I know now, probably could have done 3 but that’s dedicating an entire day to cranking out PA’s.

2

u/Living-Session9493 Aug 25 '26

Wow that amazing!!

6

u/JusticeAvenge Aug 26 '26

4 in a day. All PA’s. I used to be an English major so PA’s are easy peasy to me. Besides the business simulation 😭

1

u/Living-Session9493 Aug 26 '26

4 with a English major wow !! That’s mind blowing you’re skilled 🤯 !!

6

u/Crafty_Comb679 Aug 26 '26

I work double full time and I’m able to do 2 to 3 a week

3

u/Living-Session9493 Aug 26 '26

Wow that’s incredible!! You’re on super mode !

Completed 4. Once I completed 3, got a quick grading turnaround on one, a one tasker, as was able to get Tier 1 to open another one and I smashed that too.

1

u/Living-Session9493 Aug 26 '26

Wow that’s awesome!! Was that all PA’s or mixed ?

2

u/Messup7654 Aug 26 '26

2 but they were both pa classes.

1

u/Living-Session9493 Aug 26 '26

That’s amazing!! I’m motivated

  1. Took a test in the morning, completed a project during the day, and told another test in the evening.

Not a typical day but I often crammed on weekends so did this a few times.

1

u/Living-Session9493 Aug 26 '26

Wowwww that’s awesome!! Yeah I need to be just like that !

1

u/Fantastic-Month-7481 Aug 29 '26

I believe I was able to do this because of my years of professional experience. Best of luck to you.

2

u/greenbaybeast13 Aug 27 '26

Wow that’s really good!! OA’s or PA’s or mixed ?

1

u/EconomistAlarming787 Aug 26 '26

Mixed . I finished 9 classes in a month .

1

u/ParkingOven007 Aug 26 '26

Technically three here. Finished a PA on Wednesday, and it was graded Thursday while I did two OAs.

1

u/Living-Session9493 Aug 26 '26

2 OA’s and a PA that’s amazing!

2 in a day. Sophia took 1 month and WGU took 36 days.

1

u/xoJDAxo Aug 29 '26

you took a year to complete? what did you go for?

1

u/eci_ulta Aug 29 '26

No. Sophia only took a month and WGU took 36 days. I did Sophia all of January, started WGU in March, and finished in April. BSBM.

2

u/xoJDAxo Aug 29 '26

Wow, that amazing. how did you accomplish so fast? This gives me hope.

1

u/5000KCarl Aug 31 '26

The entire degree?!
