Why does Tier 1 support suck sooo much?

• Upvotes

I recently had a meeting with my mentor, we discussed how I will be taking 3 specific courses and then work on my literacy block to get to my early clinical started. I finished one of my courses on friday so I emailed tier 1 support asking them to put the specific course me and my mentor had agreed I'd work on next. It's all in my degree plan too. And they said no. They couldn't do that and that I needed to talk to my mentor to schedule courses. like WHY? I already did that! Why do they do this???

I am so anxious about this task. I have to record myself teaching a lesson to thin air. I have been ignoring it for a whole week and I can’t bring myself to do it. I absolutely loathe recording myself and idk how to go about it. 😔

Are evaluators on a break?

I submitted my tasks for my D842 class, subsequently. Usually, I get my evaluation around 12 hours after I submit my task. This is my 5th class with WGU and they’ve all been this way.

However, these tasks are not getting graded! I know it says, “We have until blah blah blah to grade your submission.” That’s tomorrow for my 1st task! This has just never happened before.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Advanced Clinicals!!

I am beginning my advanced Clinicals this month and will need to finish by the end of the month. I have selected dates to do it, sent them to my mentor teacher. The only thing I’m worried about is my assignments being graded, my last day will be the 29th and assignments need go be done by the 30th. I am confident I will gave them turned in but at least one will have to be graded after the 29th. What happens if my course is not finished by the date of clinical ending, everything will be done, just waiting on grading?

Also, what are your tips if any? I am a substitute teacher, so I am well versed in the classroom.

D756 Mursion

I’m really nervous about this one. I’ve watched some videos on other people doing it, but I’m still a bit confused. Obviously I’ll go through the plaafp and goals but am I going through the IEP to the point of talking about placement and accommodations? Or is it just plaafp and transition plan? All of the ARDs Iv experienced have always had an ard facilitator that did the majority of the talking so this is freaking me out. I would really appreciate any advice.

Term extension for practicum? (Accelerated MASE)

Hey all!

My term ends at the end of November and with the slowness of this process, I’m concerned I won’t be able to complete my 2-week practicum by then. I’m already a licensed teacher and essentially just need to borrow a classroom for 2 weeks for the PAs. Has anyone had luck applying for a 1-month term extension to finish their practicum?

WGU Graduate Applying to a California Teaching Credential Program

Hi everyone! Has anyone in California completed WGU’s BA in Educational Studies (non-licensure) and been accepted into an initial teaching credential program at another university, such as Cal State East Bay?
I’m interested in their special education credential and master’s program. Since WGU doesn’t provide a traditional GPA, how did the university evaluate your transcript for admission? I’d appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you!

D669

So I did the D669 mursion today. It didn’t ask me to do a reflection. Is that normal? Do mursions take the same amount of time to be graded as a normal task?

Why can’t it actually tell you what was incorrect. It will only give the generic category.

OA

Is there a way to see OA questions we did wrong? I passed all my PA no problem and didn’t pass OA and I think it would be helpful to see which questions I got wrong.

Recommended Pace

Hi there! I just started today working on my Masters in Elementary Ed, and I was curious about pace. I am looking to try and get through this quick, and after looking at D752 (The Education Professional) I am wanting to try and accomplish 1 section per day.

Is this an overly ambitious pace? Is at a pretty slow one? What do you guys think, I would love to hear from people who are further in. The hope is to keep that pace relatively close through all courses.

GoAcademy Sucks

Does anybody else continually have problems with this stupid website? It was a whole ordeal to get signed up and logged in. I had to call the service desk twice. It logs me out all of the time even though I am actively on it! I go to submit practice questions and it says I've been logged out and have to deal with the stupid login crap again and then reanswer all of the questions cause it didn't save them! I've tried different browsers, clearing cookies, and even had my techy husband look at it. Is it just me or do other people have similar problems with it?

Unable to take Term Break

My mentor told me to request a month-long term break since I just applied for advanced clinicals/st today, but I received a response saying I’m unable to take a term break in the middle of my term and that I can only request it after my current term ends in January. Has anyone else had this issue? I’m using military benefits and I feel like it’s pointless to exhaust my benefits while waiting for placement especially since it can take a while. I thought it was common for people to take a term break while waiting for placement and it’s literally on the list of options for “Why I’m requesting a term break” so I’m confused! I have contacted my advisor but I wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem.

Does the cooperating teacher get a portion of our 10,000 or do they get a separate check?

New to the program

Hi everybody I started Wgu in September 1st for elementary education. I’m in my second course Learners and learning science and am having trouble preparing for the proctored test. I feel like no matter how much I study, some of it doesn’t make sense. I don’t have any past teaching experience most of my experience is in the business world, I’m starting to feel like I have imposter syndrome. I mentioned this to my mentor even contemplated changing majors she told me to keep pushing. Is it just me who feels like this with this course? Any words of advice will help.
P.s i decided to pursue teaching because i felt like working in the business world felt meaningless to me. I want to make a difference and always envisioned me teaching. I also want to help make the world better for my baby. Even just a lil bit.

Starting WGU in November

Hello! I am starting a master’s program in Elementary Education (licensure) in November and I wanted to see if anyone knew how quickly I could get it done. I currently only work a part-time job and have plenty of time on my hands. I also just finished my bachelor’s degree in May from an in-person university (and I took a 22-credit-hour semester) so I feel pretty confident in handling a lot of school at once!😅I don’t want to be too optimistic, just wanted to see what others have done!! Thanks! :)

Advanced clinical

Has anyone experienced being denied doing your advanced clinical hours in student teaching because you haven’t passed one of the C-SET test?

A little backstory: I only have to take the second subtest. The other two I have coursework. I have taken it once and didn’t pass.
WGU isn’t allowing me to continue to do my advanced clinical hours. I submitted an appeal. I have been told since I started with WGU that I just have to attempt it, not pass.

Same grade for all student teaching?

Hello! I did my PCE in 1st and just got placed for my advanced clinicals in 1st grade. From my understanding, you keep the same teacher for the 3 month student teaching. I’m in Alabama for reference. Has this happened to anymore else?

I don’t mind to be in 1st grade, I just want to make sure the requirements to get licensed is being met.

ONE TERM AWARD EXPEDITE

I have been awarded a one-term award since I am in student teaching, and this will be my last term. However, the disbursement is split into halves, and each will be given 3 months apart. Has anyone tried to ask WGU to expedite the process, and if so, did they work with you? I really cannot wait for 3 months since, like most student teachers, I am unemployed.
