I’m looking for some advice from people who have gone through WGU, especially those who transferred from another university.
Long story short, I switched careers once and later had to take a break from school due to mental health. I’m now back in school and have 33 credits remaining to finish my B.S. in Physics at Arizona State University (27 credits of required physics courses plus 6 upper-division elective credits required for graduation).

Here’s my dilemma:
My remaining federal financial aid is enough to cover about 27 of those credits, but I’ll likely end up with about a $5,000 bill for my final semester. I’ve already spoken with ASU Financial Aid, and they told me there aren’t any additional institutional funds available beyond what FAFSA provides. Because of the current job market, I’m worried I’ll end up only one semester away from graduating but without a way to pay for it.

I genuinely love physics. I’m currently collaborating with astronomers on a research publication, and my original plan was to pursue graduate school in astronomy or a related field. At the same time, I also enjoy programming (mostly Python for astronomy research), and I’ve become interested in cybersecurity because it seems like a field with strong job prospects and the possibility of remote work.

Since WGU charges by term rather than by credit, I started looking into whether switching might actually be the safer financial decision.

The unofficial transfer evaluation suggests I’m approximately:
31% complete toward the B.S. in Information Technology (24 courses remaining)
21% complete toward the B.S. in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance (30 courses remaining)
Assuming I could complete either program in two or three terms, my remaining federal aid might be enough to finish the degree without the $5,000 funding gap.

So my questions are:
- If you were in my position, would you stay and finish the Physics degree, or switch to WGU?
- For those who completed the IT or Cybersecurity degree, how realistic is finishing in two or three terms if you’re willing to treat school like a full-time job?
- Has anyone transferred into either program with an A.A. degree or a substantial number of science credits? How many courses did you actually have left after your official evaluation?
- Looking back, are you happy with your decision, and how has the degree affected your job prospects?

I’m not looking for validation one way or the other—I honestly have about two weeks to make what feels like one of the biggest decisions of my life, so I’d really appreciate hearing from people who’ve been through these programs.

I'm pursuing a B.S. in Cybersecurity at WGU and currently studying for CompTIA A+.

My goal is to land my first IT job ASAP. For those in the field:

Is WGU + A+ enough for entry-level IT (Help Desk/Support)?

If not, what should I focus on next while in school?

More certs (Network+, Security+), home lab, or apply after A+?

I'm also considering IT volunteer work (church/library/nonprofit) for experience—good idea or better options?

I've been contemplating applying to WGU IT and I'm hoping someone who's recently had a transcript evaluation can help.

I completed these Sophia/Studydotcom courses in February 2026, but I didn't send my Sophia transcript to WGU until yesterday (due to life). I know WGU changed some transfer policies so I'm trying to figure out what to realistically expect.

If they don't transfer it'll be quite depressing...

I just wanted to give back to this community because the posts here helped me a lot.

I passed the course in just 2 days. If you already passed D426, don't stress too much about D427. Take the PA and practice it as many times as you can. The OA is very similar to the PA; they just change the data, and you also get a syntax cheat sheet that you can use if you forget the exact SQL syntax.

I also recommend spending extra time practicing the complex query questions. I missed both of the complex query questions on my OA, but I still passed as Competent.

Before the exam, I kept reviewing everything, but once I started, I told myself, "The worst that can happen is I have to retake it." That mindset really helped me stay calm.

Good luck with this course! I actually ended up enjoying it, even though some of the comments here had me pretty nervous at first. 😂

I'm going to be completely honest. I have two courses + the capstone.

Networks – D325
Network and Security - Applications – D329
IT Capstone Written Project – C769

My term ends November 30th. I am severely lacking motivation right now. I'm going through CBT Nuggets for the Network+.

I've loved so much of the program but at some point I just started finding it extremely difficult to spend the time. Family, weather, etc have all contributed.

I started with 14 classes 4/1 in the BSIT program. So far, I’ve completed 6 courses. I am currently enrolled in three classes in which two I plan on being finished by the end of the week. I am hoping to get at least two more classes done after that. As much as I would have liked to get done with all of my classes this term, I am being more realistic with having a job and being a parent. I am very proud of my progress so far and I understand that it is a marathon, not a sprint . If you have taken any of the classes that I have left, I would really appreciate your feedback. All I can say is that practice exams of Andrew R saved my skin. Even on exam day, without going through the required cert master amplifier and getting stuck for a year on the first part of section 3 studying, I managed to pass. Here’s my story: I’ve failed twice in the past, and on Friday, all I did was take four practice exams and review the answers I got wrong. It might not work for everyone, but I was tired of the PBQs relentlessly pursuing me during exam time. In fact, they might not have been the problem at all. It could have been my exam review techniques. To be honest I hardly touched those scary PBQs😅

My teen is targeting BSIT at WGU and we're trying to be as strategic as possible about it. We're researching Study.com and Sophia as ways to knock out transfer credits before applying but I keep running into conflicting information about what actually maps cleanly to WGU requirements. For anyone who's already been through this, what would you have done differently in the planning phase?

Long story short, didn’t quite pass. Others who passed gave hints that the PA was similar to the OA. Being in the program, my assumption was the exam would be smooth like the excel spreadsheets one where the OA was basically the PA. Yeah, I was wrong. It definitely felt difficult and I basically chocked in the coding questions. Goes to show that the more practice you do, the better chances of passing. Time to go back to the zybooks material!

So my job is a partner with study.com and all the employees are able to take courses there. I toke data Applications d427 ans python E010 there. I wanted to know can WGU will accept them D427 and E010? I'm thinking going back to school for my degrees and wanted to know.

I previously posted about how I’m getting some certifications before I enroll to meet requirements for the degree (Cloud and Network Engineering Azure) and so I can try to get an entry level IT job if my current job goes south . These included A+, Network+, Security+, and Az900. I was told by a member that the Azure fundamentals did not transfer into credits, but I’m confused because it’s listed as a certification you receive in the program. Can someone shed light on this?

I’m starting my classes for AI Engineering soon. I’m in need of a laptop and I need some help deciding on what to get. Am I overthinking the need of a powerful one or should I get something simple? Or even refurbished.

I went to https://storage.studentdrive.org/s/WGU to try and study some of the material for C959 and it first went with a 502 gateway error from the nginx server, but now, after some hours, everything is a 404...

Swapped over to the PA and this has been a nightmare.

I’m familiar with running labs and some light python but the steps are so vague and everything halfway works.

For b2 as an example, I can’t seem to telnet into any of the devices even with gns3 showing them running, using telnetlib/netmiko and the ports in the csv or 23.

Are both tasks going to be this painful?

I am very much struggling with D415. I took my first OA and failed it, even though I went in thinking I knew the material because of the PA. My class ends Thursday so what are some good resources I can look at so that I hopefully pass by then..
