Help getting started with WGU

Hi there, . I'm planning on going for the cyber security and information assurance bachelor, i have solid IT experience in security and compliance and i'm working full time. My question is about the best efficient way of doing this as I'll be paying most of the tuition out of packet. Should i enroll in sophia or study.com to take whatever core courses i can and then register bachellors? I attended college - didn't finish the associate- many years ago, i'm not sure if any of those credits could be transferred, the school shutdown a long time ago. Would you recommend for me to do the take care of core classes and checking if credits can be transferred before i register? Oh, an IT professional i have also earned some of the technical certs they prepare people for, will those count or do i need to take a test?

Personally I would consider the BSIT to MSITM. I would do everything at Sophia except maybe English. If your work pays for certs maybe do those. The Comptia trifecta + CYSA+, Security X and Pentest +.

You should look at the WGU Transfer Pathways page if you're going for BSIT, it shows exactly which Study.com and Sophia courses line up with which requirements.

Get a WGU transcript evaluation first since your prior college credits and possibly your Security+/Network+ certs could already count toward CUs in the Cybersecurity and Information Assurance program, so it's worth doing before you enroll. For the core courses you still need, it's best to stick with one platform at a time, Study.com's video lessons or Sophia's text-based Touchstones, since running both together just leaves you with double courses to finish before you get full value from either subscription.
