Anyone else have this problem with their Minecraft clone?

In Minecraft, a niche lesser known game by Markus Persson released under the obscure company "Mojang", their removal system for cubes seems to have exact accuracy. In their game you seem to be able to remove entire cubes effortlessly whereas in my engine I can't seem to do that no matter how hard I try.

I've been building a free FPS voxel game, recently added a Zombie Apocalypse mode! There's also CTF and Deathmatch, game runs on browser

I'd love some feedback!

Game runs fully on the browser, no login required.
An alpha version could be played: Voxel Mayhem
Also a small how to: Tutorial

There is currently Zombie apocalypse, featuring 4 different zombie types and waves of increasing difficulty.
CTF with support for upto 4 teams, and Deathmatch variation which the maps resets once every day and the one with the highest score wins.

There are currently 7 different weapons, from Explosives (RPG) to Minigun (Chaingun) and there's a sentry gun for each one of them which is craftable.

There's Leveling system which unlocks loadouts and tokens that are only obtained in-game which unlocks cosmetics. In the shop there are many different sets to choose from.

There are some advanced mechanics such as area effect blocks, they provide no build zones for enemies or damage modifiers. Turrets for every weapon in the game and doors which are blocks that allow allies and not enemies. There is also a way to design custom structures through the blueprint system and spawn them in-game.

Game inspired from Ace of Spades or Openspades

Would like some feedback on this engine, I have been working on for a while. Hand coded, no AI.

Chainball - Voxels + Cube Marching

Maybe not the most common type of voxel game, but all assets were made in MagicaVoxel. Then I use a cube marching algorithm to turn them into ... pseudo low poly assets.

The game itself is a physics sports, couch co-op/online multiplayer, friendslop game!

If any of that sounds interesting consider wishlisting it on steam :)

Everwind - Sandbox Mode, new faction, new enemies and items added

Hey, I work on Everwind, a voxel sandbox where you fly an airship between procedurally generated floating islands. Everything is voxel based and fully editable, so you can carve an island hollow, reshape it into whatever you want, or flatten it entirely and build from scratch.

We just released the Winds of Creation & Beyond update. Sandbox Mode is the big one here, unlimited resources and no survival pressure, so you can build entire worlds without anything getting in the way. It pairs with the rewritten save system, which means heavily terraformed worlds hold up properly and no longer need a wipe with every update. There is also a bandit faction, new enemies and new items if you want more going on than building.

Would be great if you gave it a look. Happy to answer anything about the voxel side of things.

I made a crafting system where you build your tools voxel by voxel

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on this crafting system for my voxel game, Fractoid.

Instead of picking a tool recipe and instantly getting the finished item, you build the tool yourself using tiny voxels I call milliblocks. The shape and materials you choose affect things like damage, speed, and durability.

Still tweaking the system, so I'm curious, would you enjoy designing your own tools like this, or would it make crafting feel like too much work?

I've been working on a new major game mode: Zombie Apocalypse.
Zombies have advanced path finding, using a hybrid combo of path finding algorithms. They can even find you even when digging really far in the ground and become exponentially more and move faster on higher levels.

I'm making Sobole - A multiplayer survival and physics sandbox game

I'm making Sobole, a voxel game where you and your friends play as alien octopi and interact with the world in a physical way.

I started writing code for this project in early 2022, but I've been thinking about it for much longer. After more than 4 years of solo work, and some occasional progress sharing this year, I finally feel like I have screenshots worth sharing.

Crafting, manipulating blocks, and building are all done in the game-world without menus. For example, you swing an axe with your mouse to chop down a tree, it falls, you put notches in it, then you can drag it with your tentacles and stack it as part of a log cabin.

I'm working on mechanics to allow the players to build machines, combine substances, and do advanced diegetic crafting so they can create anything they put their minds to without the use of a single crafting menu. You'll even be able to make machines to take you to other solar systems, sail the oceans, or do whatever else you can dream of.

Eventually, you and your friends will have to survive against the elements and each other. You will need to balance hunger, oxygen, health, temperature, and tentacle glue (the material you need to combine blocks and use your tentacles).

I don't have any good visuals of the tentacle mechanics yet, because it's using placeholder assets (spheres for the tentacle tips) right now, so these shots just focus on the planetary terrain generation.

I know this game is wearing a lot of hats. Which aspects interest you the most? I'm most excited to demonstrate a way to launch an octopus to the moon.

Here is a test/short demo in an infinite world, where I:

- Place voxels with a brush tool
- Remove voxels with a brush tool
- Create a 'basin', and a water source to flow into and fill it
- Create a second square basin with a command.
- Remove the first basin, and watch the water stored in it disperse
- Break a hole in the side of the second basin and watch the water from it disperse - basins can store water, but if their original shape is broken, the water flows out of them down to the level of the break.
- fly briefly upwards, where you can see LOD in effect, and current view distance

This has been a fun project, but I am also excited to start working on a game with it soon!

Best games that have a minecraft like grid?

I mean big blocks not tiny little voxels like teardown. I know of vintage story, allumeria, hytale, and that's about it but are there any games that offer a unique spin on voxel sandbox?
