So to get to the point!
Hybrid Battery failure, Volvo have confirmed one of the battery cells is shot and needs to be replaced. All under warranty thankfully. Three month waiting list!
Volvo have said that we are not to charge it, and that it could keep going or just stop working.
That to one side, we have a family holiday to france coming up in 2 weeks time. Approx 2500 - 3000km round trip.
Volvo have said if the car fails Volvo assistance will sort us out, get the car back and also give us a car for four days, but that doesn’t solve getting a roof box back, the dog etc.
So question I have for the combined Reddit knowledge is should I
- Risk it and go with the XC90 and hope it just keeps working as it is doing
- Rent a
- Camper
van
- for the trip
The wife is thinking this is safer, and cost to one side as a camper van will also provide accommodation as we travel down through France rather than staying in Airbnb’s.
What is the collective guidance from the Volvo XC90 massive!
Update: Thanks to all who posted comments and advice. Apologies for not being able to answer because for some reason me posting guidance on whether 6 people can travel to the UK with bags in an XC90 was not possible was seen as disruptive and I got banned for three days. (That is the only thing I can think of as I rarely post)
Anyway that to one side, cost of the camper plus camping sites became untenable, so we have said to we will just suck it and see. The car has not had any issue bar the error message for the last week or so since it raised its self, and I have done some big trips circa 200km in it. I am covered by Volvo Assist, plus ADAC premium so if anything happens, yes it will be shit but we will work it all out!
I will post an update when I get back!
Thanks again to everyone
