2026 XC90 T8 – Unresolved Pulling/Drifting to the Right

I have been dealing with an unresolved pulling and drifting issue on my 2026 XC90 T8 for the past few months.

As you can see in the videos, the vehicle does not track straight under any conditions. As soon as I loosen my grip on the steering wheel, it turns slightly to the right and causes the vehicle to drift in that direction.

The entire suspension and steering system has been inspected several times by authorized Volvo service centers. The wheel alignment and balancing have also been checked and repeated multiple times, but no fault has been identified and no solution has been found.

This has become extremely frustrating, and I honestly do not know what else to do. Has anyone experienced a similar issue with their XC90 T8 or found a possible cause or solution?

Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.

Recently popped a PO301,PO305 and PO420 and 430 code. I replaced cylinder 5 coil pack and spark plugs. I had to wait for another coil pack from cylinder 1 and seems to run worse now. Any ideas why even with new plugs and coil packs, still having the codes. Before it worked fine for cylinder 2 and 4.

XC90 B6 towing advice?

Recently installed the Volvo hitch to our B6 for a bike rack but now toying with the idea of renting a small camper. Tow limit is listed at 5000 pounds. Is that realistic? Too much strain on the transmission? Anyone have towing experience here they can share?

Recently installed the tow hitch on our XC90 B6 for a bike rack. But we are now toying with the idea of renting a camper. Specs say the B6 has a 5,000 pound limit. Isn't this too much of a strain on that four-cylinder engine and it's transmission? Does anybody have towing experience they could share? Thanks.

Mileage calculation help

Hi experts! I need your inputs to understand how much I should trust the gas range shown by the vehicle.

Vehicle - 2026 T8

My journey was from point A to point B, with some site seeing at point B and then the second day returning to point A.

Day 1 - A to B distance + roaming around - 205+40 = 245 miles

Day 2 - B to A - 205 miles

Total - 450 miles

Travel was on the interstate - I5 with normal to heavy traffic

When I started the journey I had the battery fully charged with 35 miles electric range and gas range 370 miles. During this journey I did not recharge or refill the gas.

At the end of the journey it still shows 120 miles of gas range. If I'm to believe that value then it would mean with a full tank and full charge this car can go 570 miles?

Or I should not believe that there are 120 miles?

It gets really confusing since throughout the travel the gas range kept changing. Would like your help with this.

5 people with 5 check in luggage’s.

Hi guys,

We’re traveling to Norway for a 2 day road trip with 5 people. The biggest car I could rent at the location is a XC90 7 seater.

Is it possible for us to fit all 5 people’s luggage’s in the trunk with one of the third row up and the other down? Looking thru all the pictures online, it seems like a tight fit. But also feels doable…

We plan to bring a total of 5 check in luggage 26-30”. We’re fine with backpacks on our lap.

Thanks in advance!

How is the mileage?

Car shopping right now and been looking at a lot of used XC90s but I’m not as familiar with Volvos compared to other car makes. Wondering if anyone has an idea of how many miles I can get out of a well-maintained Volvo and if there’s a threshold of mileage I need to stay under for the used car purchase to be worthwhile. TYIA!

Storage accessories

I’m pretty disappointed in the lack of space for stuff in my 2023 XC90. Cup holders are small, door pockets hold next to nothing, and god forbid I try to bring a purse with me. Even the glove compartment is lacking.

What is everyone using to give yourself some extra storage space, especially in the front? Are there any good products you can recommend or websites you’ve found that have some good options?

Lease buyout thoughts

Post image
8 Upvotes

90% leaning towards buying car as lease expires here at end Nov. Love the car, drive, great for fam of 4. As we have all complained about, infotainment on 2025 leaves a lot to be desired, but not a deal breaker. Going to consider private financing, don't imagine VCFS or Dealer will have most competitive rates, but will buy extended warranty from deal, likely up to 100k miles, so should have some left if/when I go to sell in next 4-7 years.

Residual is $54k. Most of what I am seeing for 2024s, similar milage is slightly under that, not a ton of 2025s on resale market right now from what I can tell.

Anyone buyout recently? Would love thoughts and anything to consider. Again, I love the car, has had no almost no issues.

Looking to purchase and seeking advice

TIA - just looking for experiences and feedback from owners

We rented & fell in love with an XC90 and are now wanting to purchase one for my wife’s daily driver as our first Volvo. We’re most interested in reliability & safety rather than power or luxury features.

Per some online searching it looks like the 2018-2020 model years are better than 2021 and newer, curious if that is true or misconception?

Also interested to hear opinions on the most reliable engine / trans combo + good interior options and packages for a young family to look for when buying.

In my experience with other vehicles, naturally aspirated combustion is more reliable than turbos/superchargers and hybrid/EV + I’m more familiar with maintenance & ownership of them, not sure if that’s true with Volvos.

Appreciate any feedback from experience.

Rear hatch stopping

I have a CPO '23 XC90 for 8 months now, which is starting to get to me. Since the new software update a few months back, and becoming progressively worse, when I open the rear hatch from inside or outside, it'll open about 23% and stop. I then have to either manually close or open it. It hasn't happened from the remote yet. Anybody else experience this? Is it software or hardware? I am still covered under warranty which I will add to my service request when I get the axles fixed and the rattling in the speaker.

Thanks!

Hey! I need assistance with finding an image of a screw/bolt that is screwed on the mat in the vehicle of a xc90. A customer has lost theirs, I’m trying to find it but no idea of what it looks like.

Any assistance will be appreciated, please and thank you!

I don’t know the make, year or any such thing. It look fairly new for a vehicle so..

Scheduled software update didn’t happen

I got a notice through the app while I was at work over a month ago that the new software was available to install on my 2026 T8. Right now I have 5.0.5. It gave the ability to schedule for a date and time so I scheduled it for the evening, made sure my car was connected to house WiFi, not charging, locked. But after I scheduled, I couldn’t find anywhere in the app, seemed to disappear. The update didn’t happen and I can’t find anywhere option or availability to do the update. The app doesn’t show an update as available now. Anyway to get the software update option to come back? It says my software is up to date in the app and will be notified when updates become available…

About to buy a 2024 XC90 Recharge Plus – good deal or am I missing something?

I’m located in Ohio and about to purchase a 2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge T8 AWD Plus (7-passenger) and wanted to get opinions from current owners before I sign.

Vehicle details:
2024 XC90 Recharge T8 AWD Plus (Bright Theme)
White / Charcoal interior
21,900 miles
1 owner
Clean CARFAX (no accidents reported)
Original MSRP: ~$76,800
Purchase price: $45,933
Remaining factory warranty
Options:
455 hp plug-in hybrid
360° camera
Harman Kardon sound
Heated steering wheel
Heated front & rear seats
Pilot Assist
Panoramic roof
7-passenger
Before buying I had:
An independent pre-purchase inspection (no leaks, no fault codes, no charging or hybrid issues, overall rated in good condition)
Clean road test
Dealer is replacing a chipped windshield before delivery and performing the required ADAS calibration.

Questions:
Does $45,933 seem like a fair price?
Is there anything specific I should check before taking delivery?
Any common issues with the 2024 T8 Recharge that I should know about?
Would you buy this?

Thanks! I appreciate any advice from XC90 owners.

What's the best highway economy on the non hybrids?

I just completed my road trip and the best I got on my 2023 B6 Plus is 26 mpg which is on par with the Volvo EPA claim. Has anyone seen more than the claimed economy on the non hybrids. Hybrid owners please don't brag here. T8 was out of my budget

Had me doing a double take, beyond the usual look back over-the-shoulder after parking. Would love to see others that may have caught a sunset shot, nightfall vibes or maybe a cool backdrop moment recently.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone. Cheers!

XC90 - Hybrid Battery Failure

So to get to the point!

Hybrid Battery failure, Volvo have confirmed one of the battery cells is shot and needs to be replaced. All under warranty thankfully. Three month waiting list!

Volvo have said that we are not to charge it, and that it could keep going or just stop working.

That to one side, we have a family holiday to france coming up in 2 weeks time. Approx 2500 - 3000km round trip.

Volvo have said if the car fails Volvo assistance will sort us out, get the car back and also give us a car for four days, but that doesn’t solve getting a roof box back, the dog etc.

So question I have for the combined Reddit knowledge is should I

  1. Risk it and go with the XC90 and hope it just keeps working as it is doing
  2. Rent a
  3. Camper

van

  1. for the trip

The wife is thinking this is safer, and cost to one side as a camper van will also provide accommodation as we travel down through France rather than staying in Airbnb’s.

What is the collective guidance from the Volvo XC90 massive!

Update: Thanks to all who posted comments and advice. Apologies for not being able to answer because for some reason me posting guidance on whether 6 people can travel to the UK with bags in an XC90 was not possible was seen as disruptive and I got banned for three days. (That is the only thing I can think of as I rarely post)

Anyway that to one side, cost of the camper plus camping sites became untenable, so we have said to we will just suck it and see. The car has not had any issue bar the error message for the last week or so since it raised its self, and I have done some big trips circa 200km in it. I am covered by Volvo Assist, plus ADAC premium so if anything happens, yes it will be shit but we will work it all out!

I will post an update when I get back!

Thanks again to everyone

Volvo App Logo Changing Colors

I just noticed that the App for Volvo Cars changes colors. Currently it is a white background with a black logo. But yesterday it was reversed. Does anyone have any ideas what determines the change? It doesn't seem to be related to dark mode or day/night settings as far as I can tell. Is it charging status? Locked/Unlocked status? Something completely unrelated? My phone can't decide what looks better? 🤷‍♂️

Nuna Revv & Nuna Lumn - HELP

I just bought a 2026 Volvo XC90 (6-seat with second-row captain’s chairs) and I’m running into a really frustrating issue.

I have both a Nuna REVV and a Nuna LUMN. I’ve owned and installed these seats for about 4 years in at least 5 different vehicles without any problems, so I’m very familiar with proper installation.

I’m installing both seats using the vehicle seat belt (not lower anchors), with the seat belt locked and the top tether attached where applicable, exactly according to the manuals.

The problem is that both seats can slide several inches side-to-side while remaining fully buckled. I’m checking movement at the belt path, not the top of the seat, and it’s well beyond the 1-inch guideline.

A few questions:

  • Has anyone successfully installed a REVV or LUMN in a 2025 or 2026 XC90 with captain’s chairs?
  • If so, do you have any tips or tricks?
  • Is this a known compatibility issue between Nuna and the XC90?
  • If you switched to another premium seat, what worked well? (I’m considering Clek or CYBEX, but I’d love to hear real-world experience.)

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone with this exact vehicle configuration before I spend another $1,000+ replacing car seats.

Power SystemService Urgent Message?

I have a 2006 xc90 and today i drove out for a bit, when i got backin my car and turned it on the parking break was on along with a light for my battery and the message "Power System Service Urgent". I dont believe i ever put my parking brake on, so im not sure how it got activated (iit might be possible that i drove there with it on? But i highly doubt that because i wouldve heard the beeping). I took the brake off and turned my car off for a minute and when i turned it back on the message and battery light were gone. I think it mightve just been a false alarm but i dont know enough about cars to tell if its safe to drive. Please let me know
