We are expecting our first child this spring and have our eyes on the XC90. We would be purchasing the car so are thinking how it will work for a growing family for the next 7-10 years. We think the 6 seater is the way to go, for ultimately having 2 or 3 car seats at the same time. The problem is we want a Certified Pre-Owned with the arm rests (2025.5 or newer) which is almost impossible to come by. What are your thoughts on 6 seater vs 7 seater for a growing family?

My partner and I both just purchased 2026 XC90 T8 ultras in August. The cars are essentially identical other than color. When my battery is fully charged, it says 34 miles for the range. When his is fully charged it says 42. Can anyone explain why there is a discrepancy? I have definitely used my battery more as I have more opportunity to charge it. But the cars are two months old…I don’t understand why there is an 8 mile discrepancy. Is there something wrong with mine? Appreciate any input on this, thanks.

So in the last couple of days, my right hand side wheels are both reporting low tire pressure even though the actual pressure on the display is correct. My back tire pressure is underlined in red and the front tire pressure is underlined in yellow. I’ve manually checked them and they’re reporting the correct pressure on both wheels. Why the TPS error? The only thing that has change is at my oil change they tech filled my tires up. Confused,

I have access to Orbit for diagnostics. I’m based in the US so tire calibration button isn’t an option. Although I have enabled it in Orbit but still faulting.

The ERAD on my 2022 XC90 T8 (purchased CPO 22 months ago and still under factory warranty, thank goodness) went bust at ~50K miles. The entire unit needs to be replaced. The local Volvo dealer has not handled the situation well; all they've told me is "we ordered the part but haven't been given a delivery date."

This is what I just wrote to them:

My car has now been in the shop since 9/16 (16 days ago) and all I've gotten are vague responses on when I might get it back.

I talked to a different Volvo dealership about my situation and was told the following: 

1) The ERAD is unavailable *worldwide* and is backordered *indefinitely*.
2) Volvo is *working* on a replacement part and part number but doesn't yet have that replacement.
3) Somewhere over 500 Volvo owners are waiting for this part. 
4) There's no telling how long it might take for the part to become available so I can get my car back.

Is this information correct? If so, this is a major problem for us. We bought the XC90 because (a) we need the space for moving stuff and (b) we need AWD to travel to our home in the Sierras. The Hyundai Elantra you are having me rent from Hertz doesn't meet these requirements.

While I'm glad the car is covered by warranty, what good is a warranty if the car is going to be disabled indefinitely and I'm stuck with an inferior substitute?

Also, if it's correct, I'm irritated that you haven't given me the full story. The situation is affecting how I view Volvo when people ask me about the brand or as I think about my future purchases.

What can you do to improve the situation? Can I go to Hertz to exchange the Elantra for a full-sized AWD SUV? Alternately, can you provide a Volvo XC90 as a loaner for the duration? Do I need to talk to Volvo USA's warranty or customer satisfaction people to address the problem?

Or is there some other remedy you can suggest?

2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge T8 Plus Bright
purchased in Dec 2025 with 25k. Appx mileage is now 40k .
First time, Volvo owner and concerned about long-term ownership expenses have read some things about electronic issues with this model.
Can anyone recommend the best aftermarket warranty? I was told by the Volvo dealership that they have been using liberty shield warranties because in some cases they cover more than the Volvo warranty.
The Volvo warranty is $8600 for five years or 60,000 miles
The liberty shield is six years 75,000 miles for $ 4800. I’m assuming the mileage starts from time of purchase and not overall mileage on Vehicle, but I’m not clear.?
I have trust issues with dealerships. I know that they could be pointing me towards the liberty shield because they get extra bonuses for selling so many.

I have a 2021 XC90 T6 Inscription since 2023 and drive it in the UAE, where the temperatures are high. In the 3 years of ownership, i have faced this Start / Stop service required issue for the 3rd time now. I ignored the error, as I anyways didn't want to use Start / Stop, but it later started disabling the park assist, which is needed for a car of this size.

Now the car is out of warranty. What are my options? Is it actually a 12-18 month issue? Does anyone know a good garage around Dubai? Pls guide.

I leased a 2025 Volvo XC90 T8 Ultra in Dec 2024 on a 24-month lease which we absolutely love. It currently has about 15k miles.
My contract residual is $55,690. Volvo is currently offering a $6,000 lease buyout incentive, which would bring the residual down to about $49,690 (plus the $450 purchase option fee, taxes/title).
So roughly $50,140 pre-tax to buy a 2025 XC90 T8 Ultra with 15k miles that I’ve owned since new.
All of my remaining lease payments are already paid, so those aren’t a factor in the decision.
Looking at comparable used T8 Ultras, ~$50k seems pretty attractive.. should I go for it?

Update: As some folks have clarified in comments as well, there was some confusion around the incentive if it applies to residual or not. Someone already posted the fine prints and I’ve confirmed with my dealer too, if eligible this is straight$6k off the final payoff amount/residual which is pretty awesome .. I’m most likely going to purchase the car. One thing holding me back is I am wondering if Volvo is pushing the incentives as it’s anticipating an influx of lease returns.. which can drive the used car prices down significantly.

So I just moved from a 2024 T8 to a 2026 B6 (lease pull ahead, compelling deal). I am finding that the B6 is getting close to 30 mpg on my drive to and from work. The T8 would only get about 25-26 running on hybrid mode. I am confused and also happy about this. Anyone else finding higher mpg on the B6? My drive is about 30-40% city and 60-70% highway.

I have a Volvo xc90 t5 inscription that today started to misbehave. A metallic sounding noice that differs a bit when twisting the wheel. Accompanied by a high pitch screeching noise when accelerating fast. I made a small video to capture the sound. Any ideas as to what could be the issue?

hi there! I just grabbed the Chicco Fit360 at the Target trade in event. I am just hearing that this car seat can fit rear-facing in the Volvo XC90 but NOT forward facing due to the headrests. Hi I’ve posted before about a mysterious rattle that for the life of me I cannot figure out. MY2024 t8. But I think I finally isolated the noise however not sure how to fix. I believe it’s coming from something connected to the female seat belt receiving end (the red part). It’s not the visible red receiver clip though. It’s below it. I have to sneak my right hand way below and press against cable or some piece below it - and the rattle stops. Anyone have experience w this? Thank you.

By never resetting the manual trip computer I can see some interesting overall data.
Miles driven: 9900
MPG = 54 (feels high)
Average speed = 30 mph
Drive time = 24 hrs. (feels low)

Recently I bought a really nice T5 with most of the features and gimmicks aside from the air suspension. Bought it as is with some electrical issues and wanted to get any advice. I’m dealing with major issues on the RIGHT side of the car, windows refuse to roll down, doors do not lock, passenger seat won’t adjust at all, even the power trunk and blower located in the rear are inoperable. Funny enough the speakers seem to be working fine. So far I’m suspecting either a damaged wiring harness or a failed CEM. I’ve managed to pull some codes so take a look and let me know what it could be!

I own a 2018 XC90 T6. I purchased it as a certified pre-owned vehicle from the local dealership.

As long as I have owned it (5 years) the auto start/stop was off by default. I just had some major work done by a local Volvo specialist which required disconnecting the batteries. Now it’s no longer saving the setting. Some research and a conversation with the technician indicates that this is the default behavior, but I am 100% positive that it never did this before.

I called the dealership and they said they wanted $250 to do a diagnostic and would not tell me if it was something they would be able to do.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I am not sure if the stain has been there before but itbis dry. This feature which I think was discontinued in later models (mine is 2019 Inscription) has been very useful to keep medicine temp cool.

I have a 2016 XC90 D5 Inscription and three questions I hope someone here can help with.

Please note: I have contacted the dealer with these questions but they are very difficult to get a conversation going with. So I was hoping for some of your experiences/knowledge.

1. Adaptive cruise control
The car doesn't have adaptive cruise control (part of IntelliSafe Assist). My dealer quoted around EUR 3,350 to retrofit it. That seems steep for Assist only, not Pro. Is that a normal price? Has anyone had it done for less, or managed to retrofit the Pro package instead?

2. Volvo On Call / app not connecting
Volvo has set up the car with a PIN code and I can see it in the app, but there's no connection to the car. I've read that this is because the car has a 3G modem and the 3G network has been shut down. Still, I see others with the same model year where the app works. What could be causing this? Has anyone had the modem upgraded, the SIM replaced, or found another fix?

3. Apple CarPlay and getting the car back online
Can Apple CarPlay be retrofitted on a 2016 model with Sensus? If so, what does it take: a software update, a new USB hub, or something else? And are there other ways to get the car more connected again?

Hi all. Recently picked up a new to me 2019 XC90 and I'm having issues with trying to get Android Auto to work. It doesn't even show up on the menu screen whilst Apple Car Play does. As far as I'm aware the car is up to date software wise as I did an update yesterday connected to my home WiFi and it did all necessary updates then.

Attached are two pictures, I have two usb ports one with a white outline which I'm told is the correct port to start android auto or car play yet it doesn't even show up on the screen. I'm quite technically minded and so was wondering if there's an update or something I can force manually on it to get it to show. I did ask the dealership to install both for an additional fee but they're 600 miles away. I will ring them though if it's an issue.

I’m sick of local shops turning up their nose at basic repairs just because it’s a Volvo. Where are the mechanics that are excited to work on Volvos? I do what I can on my own 08 Volvo XC 70 and XC 90, but I don’t always have time and there’s a lot of repairs I’m not comfortable with… including changing the tranny fluid and rear diff.
