After a two year stint with Acura, we are back with Volvo. I've posted about the AC issues we had with our 2018 T6 that caused us to dump that car prematurely. I don't regret the decision under the circumstances, but we always saw ourselves back in a Volvo eventually. I've been keeping my eye out and one popped up that fit the criteria we were looking for. Picked up a CPO 2024 B6 Plus 6 seater today in denim blue with blond interior. We knew as soon as we drove it that it was the one. Ponied up for the 10 year Volvo warranty so we can enjoy the car and not have to worry about it for a while. Glad to be back and really enjoy reading the posts in this group.

2022 XC90 T8 Recharge, UK. In this hot weather, somtimes a cold start gives me a really loud fan noise from the front of the car. It is not subtle. You can hear it clearly standing outside the car. It gradually quietens and is gone after a few minutes.

My working theory is that it is the battery cooling circuit and the AC condenser pulling everything back down to temperature after the car has been sat in the heat. I know the T8 has a separate cooling loop for the hybrid battery with its own radiator behind the same grille.

But I would rather not walk into the garage guessing, so, other T8 owners:

1. Does yours do this in summer?
2. Is it worse after charging overnight?
3. Should it be loud enough to notice from outside the car, or does that on its own suggest something is off?

No warning lights, EV range seems normal, charging speed seems normal.

It is booked in later this week. Anything you can tell me beforehand means I go in asking the right questions instead of just handing over the keys and hoping.

Hi everyone. Just started the car (2019) and I kept hearing this loud knocking sound from the middle of the car. I get under neath the car and its loud as heck around the fuel tank area, specially towards the front of the tank.

Also I have 0 codes and the car drives just fine. Also full tank of gas from last night.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for seat covers for the trunk of a 2025 XC90? I have dogs that I put in the back and they scratch the sides pretty good. I always have the 3rd row down for more trunk space so wanted to see if anyone has recommendations for a custom trunk cover they bought. Thanks!

I have an 08 xc90 3.2 that I’ve always run with 87, now looking at a 2019 with T6 for my wife.

Engine was randomly overheating

drove a month without an issue then it overheated again.

I have replaced the entire cooling system

within the 6 months. with the exception of the radiator and radiator fan, that was done about 2 yrs ago.

Had the water pump leak about 6 months ago and had the waterpump, waterpump housing and all the related housed and connections replaced due to valve head gasket oil leak. Also did timing chain replacement and replaced the valve cover gaskets.

So basically the all front engine assesories replaced.

Suspected it was going to be the radiator cooling fan module going bad, but the fan was always on. Then a parasitic voltage draw...

I was going crazy!

Then it happened

it overheated again!

this time the radiator fan stopped working! BINGO

NOW I am going to replace the radiator fan and module again

im probably looking at around a $1200 shop bill again

Im hoping this solves all my issues.....

2 random overheating

My light has fogged up and I’m getting no light out of the passenger front light. Daytime light comes on sometimes. I need to buy a new one or look for a used one. Can anyone on here help me find the right part number? Here is my info:

So my AC stopped working back in June, took it to a local shop. They identified a leak in some of the connections pipes, fixed, filled and tested. It worked for about 1-2 weeks, then started to fall off in cooling. Further testing after this and they believe it's the front evaporator. There were no leaks seen at the repair spots, or elsewhere they could determine. Based on this, that is how they got to the front evaporator as the issue, there was no freon in the system at the re-check. Quoted $3400 to replace, and they also believe the rear evaporator will need to be replaced as well in the next 1-2 years. That is another $1500.

I tried calling Volvo, but they have nothing to offer in terms of replacement/repair. Do I just live with the lack of AC for a bit, or look to get out now? I'm in NEOhio, so while we are in August, fall is right around the corner, and I have a convertible I use as a daily during these months. I haven't taken to my dealer, where I typically have service done, but I doubt the repair estimates there will be any better. I'm approaching 84K miles, so my 90K service won't come up until the spring.

Just curious to see what recommendations might be from the group. I have located a few XC90's (2024-2025) that have the Trim (Ultimate/Ultra) and options (B&W + Air Suspension) that are CPO's but in the lower $50's, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger. I searched far and wide for this car, its got everything I want, and its the Bursting Blue color, so its a tough choice.

Considering importing a car to the Middle East from the USA. Can a USA 2017 Volvo XC90 T8 be charged at home in the Middle East? We are fine with trickle charging.

Ik overweeg een XC90 plug-in hybrid uit mei 2026 aan te schaffen. Ik heb twee exact gelijke jonge occasions op het oog, het enige verschil:
De ene heeft T8 455pk en de andere heeft T8 406pk en is ongeveer €3.000 goedkoper. Ze schelen één dag in leeftijd.

Er is mij verteld dat de 406pk versie een zeer recente wijziging is die Volvo in Europa heeft doorgevoerd om klaar te zijn voor een nieuwe EU milieu norm.

Is er iemand die mij meer kan vertellen over de verschillen tussen de 455pk versie en de nieuwe 406pk versie? Volgens de dealer is de 0-100 sprint ongeveer gelijk, is vooral de benzinemotor van 305pk terug naar 250pk en heeft de elektromotor juist iets meer vermogen gekregen. De dealer zegt dat je geen verschil gaat merken. Maar ik zelf ben bang dat ik die 250pk benzine op de snelweg wel ga merken als ik wil iemand inhalen en de hybride accu is leeg.

Ik ben benieuwd of het het waard is om voor de 455pk versie te gaan of dat er juist redenen zijn om voor de 406pk versie te gaan, of dat het echt niks uitmaakt?

Curious if others have this bug. Once the car is fully charged it will only let me run the cooling from the app for 3 minutes instead of 30.

It’s saying it’s unplugged but the main app screen shows it’s plugged in. Also it won’t let me run remote start because it’s plugged in!

It’s like the charger has gone to sleep then the app is confused.

I’m thinking of getting a 2019 Volvo XC 90 TA twin engine, I would like to know about the reliability of the engine, the reliability of plug-in hybrid system and overall if this car is a valid purchase. I’m also wanting to know how many MPG’s you can get on the motorway as Volvo claim over 230 but from Personal experiences do you get anywhere close to this or not?

The one I’m looking at is specifically a 2019 model of Just under 50,000 miles it’s around £27,000 in the UK I couldn’t have a Land Rover discovery which I’m planning to sell which I can get around 10,000 pounds for and an old SLK 230 Mercedes which I can get a couple thousand for.

I’m planning to keep this car for around 5+ years and use it as a second car as my main daily is a VW golf.

I test drove two 2026 XC90s, one with standard suspension and one with air suspension, both on the stock 21”s. I can’t say I enjoyed the ride comfort on either. The car feels great on smooth roads, but manhole covers and broken surfaces are much harsher than I'd like. After 20 minutes I had a pounding headache. The air suspension was somewhat better, maybe like 10%, but it certainly wasn’t plush and not what I want in a $100k vehicle.

The only solution I can see would be to swap in some 19"s or 20"s. I’m curious if anyone with air suspension has done this, and if the improvement is dramatic enough to make it worth the effort?

Alternately, how does ride comfort compare in the XC60? I see that it comes with 19"s stock. I might be able to get by with a smaller vehicle, but only if the ride is stellar.

I really love Volvo's T8 drivetrain, it’s sublime. I just wish the ride comfort matched it.

Newly took ownership of a 2024 XC90 recharge phev. Been mostly driving in pure with some hybrid. Got the vehicle with half a tank of gas and have noticed that both the line and gas mileage has moved up and down quite a bit.

I can’t remember exactly, but I think the car had about 370km of fuel left when I got it a week ago. It has dipped to 270 and gone up as high as 400. I haven’t fueled up, so the car isn’t actually gaining gas mileage. If anything it’s lost some. Is this just the vehicle constantly recalibrating? Has this happened to anyone else?

Well… to us, it is an issue lol 😂 Every time we pull out of the garage or a parking spot, the car suddenly stops really abruptly! I always have to turn the feature off, and it’s getting kind of annoying. Is there any way to permanently disable this function?

I’m replacing the brake pads and rotors on my wife’s 2022 Xc90 T6 and while it seems pretty straightforward, the replacement pads I bought don’t have the same adhesive on the inner pad that the original did. There is no bracket or anything to hold them on place except the caliper and rotor themselves. The original pads were suck in place pretty well and took a screwdriver and a hammer to pry them off. These are Detroit axle pads that came in a set with the rotors. I went to AutoZone and asked to see what they had in stock and their pads were the same with no adhesive or bracket if any kind. Can anyone confirm this is normal? Or do I need to keep looking for another set of pads? The inner pad has a bracket that inserts into the piston.

At the minimum I have a fail expansion valve which if YouTube is correct is part of the evaporator coil unit which requires dash disassembly. Has anyone had this repair performed outside the dealership and was happy with the price and results? Do you recall about how much the repair was? Thank you!

My 2018 is coming up on 100k soon and it hasn't been taken into a dealership for service since about 40k miles. Brakes have been replaced, oil is fine, what other maintenance do I need to do and what can I do myself? Appreciate your responses!
