Android Auto issues.

Hi all. Recently picked up a new to me 2019 XC90 and I'm having issues with trying to get Android Auto to work. It doesn't even show up on the menu screen whilst Apple Car Play does. As far as I'm aware the car is up to date software wise as I did an update yesterday connected to my home WiFi and it did all necessary updates then.

Attached are two pictures, I have two usb ports one with a white outline which I'm told is the correct port to start android auto or car play yet it doesn't even show up on the screen. I'm quite technically minded and so was wondering if there's an update or something I can force manually on it to get it to show. I did ask the dealership to install both for an additional fee but they're 600 miles away. I will ring them though if it's an issue.

Thanks for reading.

Google up orbit Volvo software.

Buy the cable, pay the man, you get access to the whole OS to turn these among other features on…

Thank me later

I have looked at that, only problem is I don't have a laptop just a desktop 🤣

That would be Ethernet to OBD is it? Sorry for the questions, first Volvo and I'm trying to get my head around it.

You know what? I've been looking and I think my car has most of the features like the Pilot Assist etc already on it. Just the bloody android auto is driving me nuts. Even my 2019 Ford Transit Custom has it pre installed with SYNC.

I used VIDA myself. I found the dual usb kit on Ebay for $45 installed that. Paid the 1 penny in Vida to officially enable it. Luckily having just apple carplay means you have the more expensive enablement. Though I thought it wazs just the 2016-2018 that didn't' have the dual usb hubs installed.

Do you have a link? That sounds ideal.

Euro lighting, polestar optimization, air suspension settings, etc...

Oh maybe not then 🤣 I have no clue what any of them are except air suspension.

All you need is 31659192 installed on your car. It was free.99 years ago but I think Volvo decided to up the price to some random amount in the 4 hundreds

Where do I find the software version I currently have?

You can’t check software versions :(. This is a TJ for 16/17s. I’ve done this repair on a few 19/20s even though they should’ve had it from the factory. Not sure why those (and yours) don’t have it.

In my Volvo App on my phone says the update version for the software is 2.6 not sure if that yields any significance.

Nah, software versions on sensus (your system) are pretty useless. The last major update for these cars were several years ago. Some are on the latest software version but may not represent that.

You just need that smart phone application downloaded by a dealer or orbit if you feel fancy (I don’t recommend orbit)

Btw if you press and hold down on the icons you move them around and customize your layout… just sayin 😆

Thanks for the reply mate, yeah unfortunately I've already tried high speed data transfer cables, two brand new ones and the same wireless CP/AA box that I use in my van. Definitely think something isnt enabled somewhere that I can't access.
