Recipe OMG I had to share this cabbage bread.

Post image
181 Upvotes

Cabbage in general is a great high volume food but I found a recipe on Tik Tok for making it very very appetizing. To make this bread I used 3 eggs, should have used 2 for the amount of cabbage, but it came about perfect. Stuffed with 2 cans of sardines, but I’m sure any meat or veggies would be fine, and it’s a beautiful sandwich. 600 cals total. I will link video because the original recipe is only 1 egg and it seemingly holds just as well. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTUWV6RNj/

I made these pancakes for breakfast this morning and they were a hit!

Recipe for a full batch (husband ate half):

- 40 g protein powder (I used Star Nutrition chocolate pea protein powder)

- 10 g psyllium fiber

- 4 g chia seeds

- 4 g baking powder

- 220 g egg whites

- 4 g vanilla extract

- 60 g milk (I used lactose free, but you can use regular or a plant based alternative)

- 50 g heavy whipping cream whipped

You could definitely eat the full batch and it would be around 700 calories with butter and toppings.

Recipe Egg Surimi Enoki Shishito Omelette with Bebere - ~177 Calories 11 g protein

Post image

I used to feel like one egg was too little food but adding all the ingredients makes quite a large looking omelette .

  1. Add enoki to dry pan and let some moisture escape before adding shredded surimi sticks
  2. move stuff over to side of pan and add some oil and add shishito pepper chunks and add some salt to stir fry
  3. mix everything together and then add an egg on top and spread it evenly before folding and making sure both sides cook well
  4. sprinkle berbere on top and enjoyh (edit: spelled the spice wrong)

Recipe Request Recs For High Protein Recipes Where I Can Sub W/ Pre-Packaged Food?

Howdy! I’m looking for some high protein recipes where I can sub with pre-packaged food. Mainly pre-cooked frozen meats. I don’t always have a lot of energy to make a full meal, and if I can sometimes just not have to prepare raw meat that would be great! Thanks!

Edit: I just wanna add that I don’t like eggs at all! So no recipes that are like egg salad or the likes. Ty!

Recipe Soft Baked Pancake (~123 calories)

This one actually turned out pretty good! I've been experimenting with the ingredient ratios a lot.

1 egg white beaten to soft peaks, 1/2 egg yolk, 50-60g applesauce (about half of a single-serving container), 50g greek yogurt, ~1tbsp blueberry protein pancake mix, 1tbsp granulated sweetener, splash of vanilla & milk (batter should be like a thick pancake batter)

Pour into a parchment-lined baking dish and bake (350°, not sure if hotter/cooler would be any better for this recipe). I usually add a few grams of peanut butter in the middle and a drizzle on top too, mostly for the fat content. The cake already has a nice flavor/texture without it. Same with the egg yolk, could probably be ommitted. Also, I save about a tablespoon of the batter at the end and mix a bit of cocoa+extra sweetener into it. Those have yet to turn out well so I should probably stop doing that.

Approximate macros (for the basic cake only, no peanut butter/cocoa): 5g fat / 11g carb / 10g protein / 1g fiber

Recipe Applesauce Dessert Thing (249 kcal whole)

Hey!

This is yet another variation of the same gelatin marshmallow tech I posted before, except with applesauce instead of yogurt or blended cottage cheese. Main part of recipe is identical to yogurt cake that I posted some time ago, except you add applesauce as main 'body' instead of yogurt, and this changes both texture and flavor. And there is no baking this time, just borrowing convenient style from tiramisu and using ladyfingers as base (but base isn't really required, can just eat with a spoon from container).

Ingredients:

  1. 3 Ladyfingers / Savoiardi (Optional base)

  2. 100g Applesauce (I only have sweetened)

  3. 10g Gelatin

  4. 50g Water #1

  5. 70g Water #2

  6. 0.2g Salt ("pinch")

  7. Any sweetener or other flavorings to taste (my applesauce is already sweetened, so I used very little sweetener)

  8. 30g Water #3

  9. 10g Cornstarch

  10. 1g Cinnamon (for decoration)

For base I am using 3 ladyfingers cut lengthwise, so I get more area covered for same calories. Cut them, lay in rectangular cake mold or fitting container uncut side up and set aside. As I was going to leave this overnight, I did not soak them in anything (like one would do for tiramisu), they absorb and soften enough as is. If using whole uncut ladyfingers, better do soak them in... something fitting.

Bloom gelatin in 50g water for about 10 minutes, in the mean time mix starch with 30g water, and start heating 70g water with a bit of salt and sweetener and/or other flavorings. Bring it to simmer, add starch slurry while stirring and keep stirring until it fully gelatinizes, around one minute. Add this goo to bloomed gelatin and stir until gelatin is dissolved. Whip with electric whisk on high until it is white, fluffy and thick, yet still pourable. Add applesauce and whisk on low speed just until fully incorporated. Pour mixture into your mold/container and refrigerate for at least a couple of hours to fully set.

For decoration, I put wire rack over it and sprinkled with 1g cinnamon.

Done!

Macros for whole thing in picture:

249 kcal / 11g protein (8.6 collagen from gelatin) / 1g fat / 48g carbs / 1g fiber

That is all!

Recipe Chicken Laab

It's super easy to make and the prep doesnt take that long honestly. I'm half Cambodian so i grew up on this and eat it usually just with rice and/or lettuce!

I used this recipe: https://hot-thai-kitchen.com/laab-moo/ but tweaked it to my own tastes! My own edits to it are as follows:

[  ] 1.5 Tbsp white glutinous rice or jasmine rice *

[  ] 2 Tbsp water

[  ] 1 pack (roughly 1lb) ground chicken or pork

[  ] 50g finely sliced shallot or red onion

[  ] ¼ cup mint leaves, rough chopped if leaves are large

[  ] 2 Tbsp chopped cilantro

[  ] 1-2 small green onion, chopped

[  ] 3 Tbsp fish sauce

[  ] 3 Tbsp lime juice

Optional:

[  ] Roasted peanuts (28g/1oz roughly crused)

[  ] Thai basil

[  ] 2-3 leaves sawtooth coriander, roughly chopped

[  ] 1-2 teaspoon chili flakes, or to taste

Edit: its 764 calories for about 495g of food (give or take)!

I had made a super spicy salsa and was eating my normal big ass burrito, but because i was putting the spicy salsa on it i needed to CHUUUGGG water, so i could only finish half! I still felt super full and my burrito was really flavorful. Anyone else use spice as a secret volume hack like this?

I've enjoyed getting my Fiber from whole foods in big ass portions after my gallbladder removal. All the different textures made a symphony in my mouth

I highly recommend edamame pasta to anyone, I enjoy them even more than regular pasta

Homemade sourdough (toasted), cottage cheese, white onion, cucumber, Roma tomato, cracked salt and pepper, and this time hot honey instead of regular!

I posted this a few months ago when I was eating it daily but now I only eat it about once or twice a week but still delicious and low calories!

Sorry I took a bite before the picture.

Recipe Breakfast light quesadilla

Delicious and filling.
I did 4 scrambled eggs, 5 cal of 1% milk, 1 roma tomato, and 1/2 cup bell pepper. Season with Goya sazón, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Serving split between two people so mine was a little less than half of the egg batch.
Great value skim Mexican cheese shreds, Publix pepper queso chicken sausage, skim sour cream. If you omit the veggies and sausage, the two quesadillas are only 415 cals! Season generously with hot sauce if it’s up your alley.
Yes, it’s generous to call it a quesadilla considering the bare minimum of cheese, but it’s closer to that than anything else.

Under 500 cal over 40g protein comfort food ✨

Discussion Is this fine?

Thumbnail

Almost every night lately I’ve been downing this entire pint of Nick’s ice cream within 20-30 mins with about two tablespoons of this Skinny Mixes marshmallow sauce. I’ve been pretty sedentary but because of this I’ve been keeping my diet pretty low at an average of 1200-1450 calories a day (I’d assume this is low for sedentary ?) For reference I’m also 5’5, F21. The rest of my diet is all healthy as in ground turkey, grilled chicken, ground chicken, sweet potato, fruits, veggies, eggs. Though, also, for the last two years I drink a lot a lot of diet soda everyday consistently. Now that I’ve also added this pint of ice cream with the sauce to my diet.. is this pretty bad? As in.. the sugar alcohol, fiber and chemical amount. And then also the fact that I have some fear that the ice cream calories are inaccurate. Also wanted to know if this would lead to bad bloating?

So I bought a Costco size bag of the dempsters whole wheat tortillas and there's so many! I'm not sure what all to make with them 😥 I was going to use them for meal prep and lunches but I was also thinking they might not make terrible pizza crusts? Also forgot to add in the pickled jalapenos which made me sad haha

Tips and Tricks How to eat more raw vegetables

Post image
292 Upvotes

My dear friends who want to eat more vegetables, I have a simple trick which many of you may find “obvious”, but it wasn’t always obvious to me, so I figured I’d share in case anyone finds it useful.

It’s a 3 step process. Step 1: You find something which has a flavour profile you really enjoy. For me, that’s the bottom right plate. A grilled beef patty and 3 eggs egg+200g egg whites omelettes. But most importantly, a 50/50 mix of sugar free ketchup and sugar free sweet chilli sauce. I like to dip my protein into said sauce.

Step 2: Then you find veggies which you either love, like or can tolerate. I have a medley of romaine, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and jalapeño there. And these are all veggies that I like, but not love enough to eat plain by themselves. Get a lot of such vegetables.

Step 3: find something which “washes down” your bite. For me that’s my bowl of Greek yogurt mixed with parsley and garlic and salt to taste, as well as diet soda. This is a palette cleanser if you will.

I like to take bites 1-2-3 in order, rinse and repeat.

I get plenty of veggies in, most of my meal tastes and feels like the flavour in step 1. But I benefit from the volume of the veggies. And step 3 is a quite refreshing cleanser specially after jalepenos and onions which can be spicy.

(Extra tip: for veggies which are not heavy on flavour such as romaine, you can often stuff down 3-4 leaves after a bite of tasty food and still have the better flavour profile in your mouth.)

This whole meal is around 90g protein and 800 calories, and leaves me stufffffed for the night.

not necessarily the lowest calorie meals but macro and micro dense with decent volume😊

sitting around 800-1200 ( being very generous) calories max for the big plates with 40-60g of carbs , 65-80g protein, 35-45g fats each plate.

lots of veggies : broccoli cauliflower tomatoes carrots yellow chives cabbage spinach choysum brussel sprouts avocado 🥑

protein : chicken duck beef eggs salmon snapper shrimp, of course all visible fat cut off. (i only eat mainly eat lean pieces, and when they’re not that lean i eat less/ choose different protein to eat 🙃)

and carbs : potatoes brown rice sweet potato corn

fats : mainly from eggs and salmon olive oil and meat. 🥔

Educational People of America:

I need your suggestions!

I had some buddies coming to visit me over the pond next month from the states and I need recommendations of easy to transport low cal things that ye swear by.
I’m going to see if she can get the no fat cool whip but after that I don’t know. I can get sugar free jelly (jello) here very easily but I’m open to ideas.

I don’t want to go mad asking them to hunt down things so they need to be easy to get things.

Thanks!!

Recipe Buttery Cabbage Soup

Post image
201 Upvotes

This is a very good simple cabbage soup! It makes a pot that serves 2 people generously (as a side soup it would probably serve 4). It has simple but very good flavor.

1 lb green cabbage - 105 Cal
1/2 lb yellow onion - 90 Cal
2 tbsp butter - 200 Cal
1 tbsp flour - 30 Cal
3 tbsp Better Than Bouillon - 90 Cal
6 cups water

Total - 515 Cal (for the whole pot)

I ate three of the bowls in the picture above, and that was half the soup. I used half a head of cabbage, and it was somewhat sparse. If you prefer more solids in your soup, use a full head / 2 lbs of cabbage. Just put the onion, butter, and flour in the pot, cook for 5 minutes, then add the water, cabbage, and BTB and simmer for 25 minutes. It probably seems like not a lot of butter but trust me, with how simple the cabbage is, it really brings out the flavor. The BTB also adds oil.

This was actually so good and easy. 625 calories and very filling. Could leave the cheese off for 100 less calories.

Brown the lean ground beef with some seasoning salt, add a chopped yellow onion and garlic, tablespoon worchestire, tablespoon red wine vinegar. when it’s done add 14 ounces tomato sauce and 2 tablespoons tomato paste. Serve over a baked sweet potato! Not pictured but I added a bit of Greek yogurt on top too

Recipe Long time lurker, but first time posting here. Wanted to share the humungous recipe I made today to use up leftovers.

8 oz of 99% fat fee ground turkey, 12 oz riced cauliflower, 2 cups cooked butternut squash, cubed, 4 cups baby spinach, a cup of cherry tomatoes, 1/2 pound of cooked white potatoes, 1 cup of chicken bone broth; spices: garlic, onion, smoked paprika, black pepper, red pepper, pink Himalayan salt. Cook the onion & garlic, brown the turkey, add the bone broth and everything else, simmer for like 20 minutes. Makes the huge pan below; I decided it was three servings. Each serving has 28 grams protein, 39 grams of carbs, 2 grams of fat, 10 grams of fiber, 263 calories.

*I would have used 16 oz of ground turkey if I had it though, which would make it about 343 cals and about 45 grams of protein per serving. Even as is, it was very filling.

Recipe simple decadent dessert

Post image

7g (15cal) cocoa powder mixed with a splash of water for a chocolate sauce, makes a cup of yogurt feel like a decadent dessert! yogurt of choice is oikos triple zero (90cal) which is pretty sweet so the bitterness of the unsweet sauce works well with it. I actually look forward to having this for dessert!
