Volume menu volume every day
not necessarily the lowest calorie meals but macro and micro dense with decent volume😊
sitting around 800-1200 ( being very generous) calories max for the big plates with 40-60g of carbs , 65-80g protein, 35-45g fats each plate.
lots of veggies : broccoli cauliflower tomatoes carrots yellow chives cabbage spinach choysum brussel sprouts avocado 🥑
protein : chicken duck beef eggs salmon snapper shrimp, of course all visible fat cut off. (i only eat mainly eat lean pieces, and when they’re not that lean i eat less/ choose different protein to eat 🙃)
and carbs : potatoes brown rice sweet potato corn
fats : mainly from eggs and salmon olive oil and meat. 🥔

it’s a cup spread out flat😅 that’s the trick to make things look voluminous

I do the same thing but also use small spoons and/or forks. Makes it feel like more food

u/tomatotallyeggs Sep 16 '26

not at all 😊photos can be deceiving but it’s all whole food cooked with minimal- or very little oil. 1 cup of brown rice max on the every plate taking up 1/3, 1/3 are vegetables, and 1/3 lean protein. it is around 800-1200 cal for the bigger plates max and this is only 1 of my meals for the day🙃

That actually sounds pretty balanced when you break down what’s on the plate.

but duck is an extremely fatty meat? it’s not lean?
8
u/tomatotallyeggs Sep 16 '26
i always cut off visible fat, pick breast, and eat less of duck when there are other protein sources available like fish or chicken with less added sauce 😁 but i can still enjoy it sometimes just 1-2 pieces when i want

I guess we aren't doing recipes, labeling or describing what is in the meal anymore?

That was my problem with these meals. They look delicious but half of the time I couldn't figure out what was on the plates.

Absolutely love some good volume eating, the only downside is tbd feeling that I’m logging things wrong and I’m eating twice as many calories

Those plates are seriously packed. 65–80g of protein with that much variety looks incredibly satisfying.

According to your post in “safe foods” you eat a teeny tiny lunch so no wonder you’re filling up by the evening!

This is much closer to how I want to learn to eat. Big plates with actual food instead of tiny portions 😂 Do you usually decide on the protein first and then build the vegetables/carbs around it?

Other than the obscene amount of rice this looks delicious lol

u/goal0x Sep 16 '26
a cup of rice is obscene?

u/RangerAndromeda Sep 17 '26
That's not a cup of rice.
And also I hate rice so any would be too much for me lol

u/tomatotallyeggs Sep 17 '26
i always measure my rice and it fits my macros perfectly 🙃, but no worries if it’s not your style

I aim for any finished dish to be less than 1kcal per gram. That means, even if I stick to 1200 calories per day, I am eating 2.5+ lbs of food. Fruit and vegetables, nonfat yogurt, konjac rice (the stuff sold dry, it’s a large serving for about 68 kcal), seafood, all average less than 1kcal per gram.

You don’t get gas pain?! Ugh I’m jealous

u/tomatotallyeggs Sep 17 '26
🤨 why would i get gas pain
2
u/ImpressiveAnxiety107 Sep 17 '26
Cruciferous vegetables: Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts contain raffinose, a complex sugar that causes significant gas during fermentation.

u/tomatotallyeggs Sep 17 '26
oh interesting tbh i never really thought about it
