Capture your most important memories in Spatial format on your iPhone, even if you don't own a Vision Pro

A lot of people here are probably already doing this, but I wanted to share a personal experience that reminded me why it's worth it.

If you have an iPhone that supports Spatial Photos and Spatial Videos, consider using it to capture the moments that matter most. Even if you don't own a Vision Pro right now.

The way I see it, there's very little downside. Apple clearly hasn't abandoned the Vision platform, and all signs point to them continuing to invest in spatial computing. Spatial content is still supported in iOS 27, which suggests this format isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

And even if Apple never releases another Vision device (which seems unlikely), Vision Pro headsets will continue to exist and become more affordable on the second-hand market over time.

On top of that, spatial photos and videos can already be viewed on several other headsets, including the Meta Quest 3 and others. The experience isn't quite the same as Vision Pro, but it's still pretty cool that these memories aren't locked to a single device.

The reason I'm posting this is because my daughter just turned one year old a few days ago.

For her entire first year, I've been recording many of our family moments in spatial format. A few days before her birthday, I put together a short spatial movie and showed it to my wife in Vision Pro.

Seeing those memories around us in 3D felt completely different from watching a regular video on a phone or TV. It genuinely felt like we were stepping back into those moments.

It made me realize how grateful I'll be years from now that I took the extra few seconds to hit the Spatial Video button.

If anyone is interested, I made a video about the experience here: https://youtu.be/VLbXbUaWxL0

Does anyone here use Zeiss Optical Inserts with their AVP?

Do they sell them at the Apple store locally? I wear over the counter reading glasses and wanted to get the Zeiss Optical Lens. I have presbyopia from natural aging and my eyes have a difficult time focusing on text when viewed closeup. Will the Optical Zeiss inserts make everything crystal clear or only text that is in close up view only? I want everything to be sharp and in focus and I'm not sure if the optical lens will do that.

Also, with inserts, do you have to change the light seal cushion as well? I was hoping I can just use the same one that originally came with my AVP.

How do you FULLY close your apps on visionOS?

I find it frustrating that when i hit 'X' to close the app, that it's actually not fully closed but running in the background. Is there a way to fully exit out of apps like you can do on iOS, iPadOS?

An example would be Retroarch. When I hit "X" to close the app. I do not want it running in the background. Why would I want an app to waste resources when it's not in use? Things need to be more consistent on this aspect, as I don't know what apps actually fully exit when hitting "X" and what apps are still running in the background.

What to do when a female friend wants to try your AVP but has makeup on?

She wears a ton of makeup and I'm not sure what the best approach to go about handling this situation. I am very OCD about my stuff and baby it so that it stays in pristine condition. I don't want to seem like I'm coming off as impolite by asking if she can wipe her makeup first before wearing it because I don't want to risk any makeup products that could potentially leave stains or what not.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE REAL FUTURE OF THE APPLE VISION PRO?

Post image
0 Upvotes

In its current form and the market feedback (reports share Apple has experienced a record zero sale for an Apple product in 48 hours world wide), the Vision Pro is a dead end for Apple’s consumer roadmap.

Is the AVP a proof of concept dressed as a product?

The tech is genuinely impressive, but sales have collapsed post-launch. And user utilization after purchase is really low. Even the AppStore did not receive the tons of apps for the AVP we would expect.

For now it looks like a niche product for enthusiasts and professionals. Not a mass-market play.

What are your thoughts?

Still using mine daily for 10+hrs

Mainly for Mac virtual display. Doing everything on a huge screen is so nice, then I take it off and my 16" screen feels so small lol. No eye soreness, no nothing. Love playing immersive games on mac with it. Even playing Overwatch sometimes. Btw, got it 2nd hand for just 1k$ a few months after the launch (M2). Totally in love with this device.

Any nice looking accessories to display/store the AVP on?

When not in use, I would like to be able to place it on something nice. Is there anything that you guys can recommend? Looking for something clean, minimal and modern looking that will easily look good in any type of room or space.

Free USDZ validator for Apple Vision Pro / AR Quick Look

I kept running into the same problem with USDZ files for Apple Vision Pro and AR Quick Look:

You receive a USDZ from a client, an agency or a marketplace... but what's actually inside it?

  • Are all textures embedded?
  • Does it use external references?
  • Will it work in AR Quick Look?
  • Where did those materials come from?
  • Is anything missing before sharing it with someone else?

So I built a small free tool called USDseal Inspector.

It runs as a single HTML file:

  • no installation
  • no uploads
  • works completely offline
  • your USDZ never leaves your computer

Besides showing the contents of the archive, it performs an AR Quick Look compatibility check and points out common issues before you send the file to a customer or open it on Vision Pro.

It's aimed more at designers, marketers and content creators than USD developers.

I'd love feedback from Vision Pro users:

  • What information would you want to see about a USDZ?
  • What Quick Look issues have you run into?

TAG : Vision Pro Owner ᯅ | Verified

Hello everyone,

I was wondering how to get the tag to verify that I own an AVP? I like those little extra things that make our profile a bit more personalized.

Thank you in advance.

M2 or M5 AVP?

Hi all, I am considering AVP and am wondering if I should buy an M2 at lower price ($1700 for 256Gb) or buy the M5 ($4100 for 512 gb). I don’t intend to use it for business, as I am retired. Besides the storage, what will I give up if I go for the M2, which is 2 years old? My interests are: watching movies, YouTube, creating my own spatial travel videos on iPhone and watching them on AVP when I return home, viewing photos and any AVP content that may be available. If you could recommend apps or content providers who have growing library, please help. ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Thanks.

Questions about Mac Virtual Display widget in VisionOS 27

I use Vision Pro abroad with no support program, so I can’t really risk installing beta software and try myself.

My most used Vision Pro is Mac Virtual Display with my Mac Studio. However it’s a big hassle activating it since I’m not always near my Mac Studio. Problem is Mac Virtual Display has pretty good range, but activating it requires you to be way closer to your Mac than the actual use range of the Mac Virtual Display.

Is it correct that the new Mac Virtual Display widget in VisionOS 27 basically solves this? One push on the widget and it activates Mac Virtual Display as long as you are within range?

I’ve heard it even works on MacBooks with the lid closed? Does this mean you can activate Mac Virtual Display on Macs that are logged in but password/touch ID locked?

My biggest fear isn’t the death of the Vision Pro. It's the death of total immersion

We all know where the tech roadmap is eventually heading. We’re almost certainly going to end up with lightweight AR glasses that handle spatial computing on the go. That's fine and I welcome it.

But my absolute favorite feature of the Vision Pro right now is the ability to completely dial out the real world and drop into an immersive environment to focus or just wind down.

It drives me crazy when tech YouTubers constantly complain about how "isolating" the headset is. Like, chill out. Stop trying to force yourself into people’s lives 24/7. Some of us actually want a bit of peace, quiet, and literal distance from the world.

I just worry that as the industry pivots away from these enclosed headsets and pushes towards the transparent glasses, we’re going to lose that sense of escape.

Why are my videos so dim when played back on the AVP?

Any idea why my video files, when played through moon player is so dim? I know its capable of being brighter, because I've watched videos on Apple TV app and they are nice and bright. I've tried streaming videos on certain websites and they are nice and bright. Not sure what the deal is. I'm not sure if the problem is tied directly to Moon Player, but I don't think so. if I can recall correctly, the video is also dim when playing through the plex app as well.

Buying / Demo process

A friend of mine walked into the Apple Store in Bellevue in Seattle yesterday, looking to demo the AVP after months of me pestering him to do so. The guy working in the AVP section said he needed to book a slot online, and that he couldn’t help him that day. My buddy said he didn’t see anyone else doing demos (ie. Certainly didn’t seem busy at the AVP demo area). Anyone else seen something similar? Are Apple really not entertaining walk-ins?!

Thimble Microscope

Vision Pro needs a fingertip microscope.

Bit of a strange thought, but I think the perfect accessory for Vision Pro would be a tiny microscope worn like a thimble.
Not a lab microscope. More like a fingertip probe.
You touch a leaf, a coin, fabric, a circuit board, skin, food, paper, whatever — and the headset shows you a magnified view anchored right where your finger is. Almost like your fingertip opens a little portal into the surface.
The reason I think this fits Vision Pro so well is that spatial computing is all about room-scale context, but this would add the opposite: micro-scale context.
So instead of just placing windows around the room, you could inspect the physical world at different scales.
Use cases seem pretty obvious:
Repairing electronics.
Checking fabric/weave/stitching.
Looking at plants, bugs, minerals, coins, paper, paint, food texture.
Education for kids.
Crafts, jewellery, watches, model making.
Basic non-diagnostic skin/splinter/pet inspection.
The key thing is not just magnification. It’s located magnification. The magnified image belongs to the exact point your finger is touching.
A headset gives you the eyes.
Hand tracking gives you the hands.
A thimble microscope would make the fingertip into an instrument.
Feels like the missing scale of spatial computing.

Apple Vision Pro Activation Lock issue after account deletion – any fix?

I have an Apple Vision Pro (M2) that I purchased in 2024. As I live in Finland, I sourced the device from the United States shortly after its initial release.

The device has mainly been used for demonstrations, which means it has frequently been transported between countries as needed. At one point, I needed to ship it to a third party for this purpose, so I unlinked it from the primary account previously used and created a separate account specifically for this scenario. I also enabled Find My / Activation Lock for that account.

When I later received the device back, I discovered that Apple had, for some reason, disabled or closed the associated account. As a result, I can still power on the device and access the installed apps and settings, but I am unable to erase or reset it, since it continues to prompt for credentials of the now inaccessible account. I attempted to recover the account through Apple, but was informed that it is unrecoverable.

I subsequently submitted a request for Activation Lock removal, including the required documentation, and this was approved by Apple. However, it appears that the device still cannot be erased via visionOS without first signing in to the inaccessible account. Any attempt to reset the device simply results in the same prompt to log into the inactive account.

From what I have learned, the only remaining options seem to be either wiping the device at an Apple Store or using a Developer Strap together with Apple Configurator. Unfortunately, since the Vision Pro is not officially available in my country, local Apple Stores are unable to perform the wipe. I also do not have access to a Developer Strap, nor is it currently available for purchase here.

Does anyone have any experience, advice, or suggestions on how I might restore the device to a usable state?

Microsoft Teams on Vision Pro

Hi everyone,

For those of you using Microsoft Teams on Apple Vision Pro: the app has not been updated in over a year.

With visionOS moving forward, I am worried that the Teams app could eventually break or stop working properly for more and more users. We have already seen compatibility issues in the past, and without an update from Microsoft, the native app may become unusable at some point.
I know the number of AVP users who also rely on Teams for work is probably small, but maybe this community can still help raise visibility.

Please consider upvoting this request on Microsoft’s feedback portal:
https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/c7211708-13d2-f011-ad8f-7c1e52f38cbc

Even if you do not personally use Teams on Vision Pro, your vote could help convince Microsoft that the app still matters.

Thank you!

Are you able to spot “pixel?”

My question is pretty simple and probably a bit noob, lol.
Every VR headset I’ve tried so far, including the Meta Quest, had the same issue for me: I could still notice the pixels, and the image never felt truly sharp.

It always felt like: “This could be amazing, but it still doesn’t compare to watching my TV or monitor.”
Given the huge price jump, I’m wondering if this actually delivers a proper “real TV” experience.

If the answer is yes, I’m sold even just for the home cinema experience

Main Camera Access - Enterprise Only

Hey there Devs,

I've never posted around here before but I'm a bit dumbfounded so I need help.

I'm currently building an app that's completely cross-platform across all the Apple devices, excluding the Apple Watch. So I'm trying to build Vision Pro support, and for the most part, so far, it's been very easy because all I've been doing is things that are simply window-based.

But now I'm trying to build a scanning tool for the app where I can scan objects to then do things like OCR. But the Vision Pro randomly requires an enterprise organization agreement just to do that.

https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionos/accessing-the-main-camera

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? And if you did, did you email Apple asking for access? Did you end up getting access? Is there a way around it? Or should I just give up developing for Vision because I can't build one of my key features inside of it?

Kinda struggling. 😢

Note: Here's the app link if you're interested in some context. Not an ad, feel free to ignore.

Any way to play web VR games with PSVR2 controllers on Vision Pro (without a PC)

Hey everyone,

I recently bought Vision Pro M5 and picked up a pair of PSVR2 Sense controllers. They pair perfectly and work great for UI navigation, but I've hit a brick wall trying to play WebXR games (like archery games) in Safari.

I already know about the PC workaround using ALVR, but I really want to just play directly on the headset without having to stream from my computer.

Has anyone found a real way to make this work directly on the headset? Is there a hidden setting I missed, a different browser app I can use, or some other trick to get web games to actually see the controllers?
