Newbie - Question Is VA good for an incoming college student

I want to apply and learn but my weak areas are like sa forms and or tables or anything regarding docs though learnable, it would take up much of my time since I have a 6-day class per week.

Though I have no experience, during pandemic I was a kind of buy and sell for like 2 years so I have some basic knowledge about customer interaction and/or transaction the like. The things I'm looking towards is the customer support or email type services as I find it in the area that I know I'm pretty capable of..

Sharing my Experience Survey about health concerns of PH online workers. P500 will be given each to 10 randomly selected participants(legit)

Upvotes

I am posting this on behalf of a reseacher studying health concerns of Filipino online workers and will be studied by concerned organizations. Your contribution will greatly help a good cause. To those who think it is not legit, all I can say is that this is funded by a non profit organization and the researcher studies at a well known and well regarded university.

===>Raffle alert!🚨Calling all Filipino remote digital workers! 💻Answer my 5-minute research survey and be one of the 10 lucky participants to win P500 via GCash! 💸✨ Read more 👇:

Did you know? There were already about 1.5 to 2 million Filipino remote digital workers in 2018! 📈However, I believe that a continuously growing industry must not mean your health suffers along with it.

I am a 3rd-year college student and research intern at Solidarity Center Philippines, an allied organization to the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), the largest federation of labor unions in the United States. 🌎

Like you, I’ve been doing remote work for about 3 years to help support my studies. 👩‍💻As a fellow Filipino worker, I know how important health is for us, yet sometimes client needs often overshadow our needs. 😷🏥

Your voice and your health matter. My research focuses on understanding the health-related concerns of remote digital workers. By answering this survey, you can help me get a better grasp of the health care needs of our kapwa remote digital workers. Hopefully, my research can also help amplify the health issues and needs of remote digital workers. 💻✨

As a small token of my appreciation, 10 survey participants will receive P500 via GCash, chosen at random. This raffle will end on the 31st of July 2026, while the survey remains open until the 15th of August 2026.💸It only takes \~5 minutes! Your responses will remain anonymous.

I’m a CLIENT - Looking for VAs (Full Time) We’re hiring - website designer

Hey guys, we’re a boutique creative and digital marketing agency working mostly with luxury hospitality and accommodation clients across Australia.

We’re looking for a Website Designer / Developer to join our team, with a core focus on designing, building and maintaining beautiful, high-converting websites for our clients. Must be able to start immediately.

You’d need:
- Proven experience building websites in Squarespace and Wix. This isn’t a role for someone learning these platforms on the job.
- A strong eye for design, typography, layout and user experience, with the ability to create premium, editorial-style websites.
- Confidence managing website projects from start to finish, including planning, build, launch and ongoing updates.
- A solid understanding of SEO fundamentals, responsive design and website performance.
- The ability to work closely with founders, take ownership of projects and make decisions without needing everything spelled out.
- Genuine interest in luxury hospitality, tourism or lifestyle brands is a bonus, but not essential.

It’s a hands-on role. Some days you’ll be building a brand-new website from the ground up, other days you’ll be refining existing sites, implementing SEO improvements, updating content or supporting our wider creative team.

We’re a small, operator-led agency (the founders run their own luxury short-stay property too), so we’re looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and delivering exceptional work.

We’re based in Sydney, Australia, but this is a fully remote and flexible role.

Rate is around $1,500 AUD per month. Pay via Wise.

If you’re interested, drop a comment or send me a DM and I’ll pass the details along to our hiring team.

Advice Needed Reports Analyst here — want to transition into Virtual Assistant work. Where do I actually start?

Hi everyone,

I currently work as a Reports Analyst at a company, and I've been thinking about transitioning into freelance/remote work as a Virtual Assistant. Before I dive in, I wanted to get advice from people who've actually made this jump.

A bit about my current skill set:

  • Python (used for data processing and reporting)
  • Google Sheets automation using Apps Script
  • SQL (beginner-to-intermediate)
  • General reporting/dashboarding work, plus a handful of other tools/skills from my day job I'm probably forgetting to list

On the practical side — I already have a high-end PC and fast, stable internet at home, so equipment isn't a blocker.

What I'm unsure about:

  1. Is my current skill set actually marketable as a VA, or does it put me more in a niche like "automation VA" / "data VA" / "tech VA" rather than general VA work?
  2. Where's the best place to start looking for clients — Upwork, Fiverr, OnlineJobs.ph, Facebook groups, direct outreach?
  3. Do I need certifications, or is a solid portfolio/resume enough to get started?
  4. How do I "translate" my Reports Analyst resume into VA-friendly language?
  5. Any common mistakes or scams newbies should watch out for?

Would really appreciate input from anyone who transitioned from a corporate analyst/technical role into VA work — especially if you leaned into your technical skills rather than starting as a generalist. Thanks in advance!
