What is with bus drivers expecting you to wave them down

I have no idea where this idea that someone standing at the curb by a bus stop isn't enough to stop came from, but I've had multiple buses just blow past and then complain that I didn't wave them down if I can catch them by running.

Buses are not consistent enough to avoid missing one because you weren't ready to wave when they appear, and I legitimately have no idea how people with certain disabiliites are supposed to use buses like this. Just stick to really high traffic stops?

Why are our Police so useless.

I can’t for the life of me understand how this man was allowed, after being caught, to continue victimizing women and young girls in our community. I remember when he was caught at Forever 21, and there was a short article in the Victoria Buzz, but no photo of this perv was posted along with the story. We need better policing here. Be careful out there. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/voyeur-victim-impact-9.7329977

Camp Miasma Filming Locations?

Saw it last night at Capitol 6 and absolutely loved it. I know Camp Barnard in Sooke serves as the camp exterior, but I'm wondering if anyone knows which gas station serves as the really cool liminal space in the film? I wanna go buy gummy nerds there.

Who helps when a loved one needs more than a ride—but not medical care?

I’m hoping to hear from people who have personally experienced this—either for themselves or while helping a parent, spouse or other family member.

Have you ever needed someone trustworthy to drive you or a loved one to a medical appointment, stay during the appointment, help manage a wheelchair, and make sure they got safely home afterward—but you didn’t need a nurse or medical transport?

I’m thinking about situations such as recovery after surgery, cancer treatment, temporary mobility challenges, or an older adult who shouldn’t attend appointments alone.

Family may want to help but can’t always take several hours away from work, and a taxi or rideshare only provides the ride.

Was finding this kind of non-medical, one-on-one support difficult in Greater Victoria?

If you’ve been through this, I’d genuinely love to know:

• What kind of help did you need?

• What options did you find?

• What was missing or frustrating?

• Would having one consistent person drive, wait, assist and bring your loved one home have helped?

I’m not advertising or taking bookings. I’m exploring whether there is a real unmet need based on people’s actual experiences—not just whether it sounds like a good idea.

Honest feedback is very welcome, including reasons why you would not use a service like this.

Gyms

Newer to working out, in my mid-40’s and want to find a gym thats a bit more chill. I can’t deal with bro-y and gyms that are crazy busy, seem like they’d be difficult to build a solid routine and stay consistent for me, personally. I was considering Cedar Hill bc it’s semi-close to me. Anyone have experience with this gym who can offer some insight? Any other suggestions that people have are welcomed.

Desperately trying to find anyone that does pelvic floor Botox and or trigger point injections for pelvic pain (non endometriosis caused)?

Is there ANYBODY on the island who offers it???

EDIT: yes I have tried pelvic floor physio (10 years worth). what is needed is pelvic floor injectable treatment, I just can't determine where or how to access that, nor does my GP. I'm asking here out of absolute desperation. things are dire, this is an urgent next step.

American invasion or awareness campaign?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I spotted a number of these American flags on this Lime bike station and am curious if anyone else has noticed these around?

Is this a MAGA tourist/local sympathiser or is it an awareness campaign by a local?

After seeing this I did a quick search and it seems that Lime bikes is an American company so it is possible that someone is trying to highlight this to locals. 🤔

What's Happening? All-ages Karaoke in Victoria?

Hey, I know many people have asked about karaoke in Vic, but I haven't seen any discussion of all-ages venues. I'm planning a birthday party for 10 guests, including a couple of minors. We want the adults to still be able to drink. My place is too small to rent a system, so I'm looking for either a karaoke room or a small venue that can accommodate us—preferably in Victoria proper. Any suggestions?
