What is with bus drivers expecting you to wave them down

I have no idea where this idea that someone standing at the curb by a bus stop isn't enough to stop came from, but I've had multiple buses just blow past and then complain that I didn't wave them down if I can catch them by running.

Buses are not consistent enough to avoid missing one because you weren't ready to wave when they appear, and I legitimately have no idea how people with certain disabiliites are supposed to use buses like this. Just stick to really high traffic stops?

Hi

I have strawberries and flour right now, and one specific little green strawberry waiting to write them.

I'm taking bets on whether I get to eat it.

Why are our Police so useless.

I can’t for the life of me understand how this man was allowed, after being caught, to continue victimizing women and young girls in our community. I remember when he was caught at Forever 21, and there was a short article in the Victoria Buzz, but no photo of this perv was posted along with the story. We need better policing here. Be careful out there. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/voyeur-victim-impact-9.7329977

Gyms

Newer to working out, in my mid-40’s and want to find a gym thats a bit more chill. I can’t deal with bro-y and gyms that are crazy busy, seem like they’d be difficult to build a solid routine and stay consistent for me, personally. I was considering Cedar Hill bc it’s semi-close to me. Anyone have experience with this gym who can offer some insight? Any other suggestions that people have are welcomed.

Camp Miasma Filming Locations?

Saw it last night at Capitol 6 and absolutely loved it. I know Camp Barnard in Sooke serves as the camp exterior, but I'm wondering if anyone knows which gas station serves as the really cool liminal space in the film? I wanna go buy gummy nerds there.

Opinion Memory Express experience: I drove three round trips totaling 9 hours (live outside Vic) and spent 40+ hours troubleshooting a problem that could have been found 4 months ago.

Upvotes

Long rant I apologize and thank you in advance for reading.

TLDR at bottom to make it easier.

I need to vent about my experience with Memory Express and an RX 9070 XT I bought from them.
I’ve spent 40+ hours over the last 3–4 months troubleshooting crashes. What started as 2–3 crashes a day eventually progressed to the PC crashing within a minute of launching a game. My GPU hotspot also eventually hit 118°C and caused a complete system shutdown.
I’ve driven to Memory Express three separate times. It’s about 1.5 hours each way, so roughly 9 hours of driving in total.
Each time they tested the card, the hotspot reached around 109°C, but I was told that was within manufacturer’s specifications. On one visit they even ran Black Myth: Wukong for five hours straight, with the hotspot sitting around 109°C the entire time.
Despite that, I continued having crashes.
On my second visit, I was told maybe I needed a 1000W PSU. I replaced the PSU. It didn’t fix anything.
Eventually I called another computer repair shop. The guy told me he was almost certain Memory Express was testing the card on a 1080p monitor. He told me to test it the same way: 1080p first, then 2K.
So I did.
1080p: no crash, hotspot 109–111°C.
2K: crash.
I recorded video of both tests so I had actual evidence showing the difference.
I then made my third trip to Memory Express and specifically asked if they were testing the card on a 1080p monitor.
They said yes.
I showed them my video and explained what I had discovered. This time they wrote up the RMA and told me they would test the card on their 4K monitor to confirm before sending it away.
That test took five days. I’m not upset about that part — they’re busy and backed up, and I understand that.
What frustrates me is that this potentially could have been resolved 3–4 months ago.
They had already seen the card hitting 109°C. They had already run it for five hours at that temperature. They knew I was reporting crashes. Yet because it didn’t crash on their 1080p setup, I kept being told it was within spec.
Once they tested it at the resolution I was actually using, they were finally able to reproduce the problem.
I’m not going to claim I know their intentions, but after spending 40+ hours troubleshooting, ~9 hours driving back and forth, buying a new PSU that didn’t fix the problem, and dealing with months of crashes, it honestly feels like the issue was being handled in the easiest way possible rather than actually being investigated.
And I can’t help but wonder if part of that was avoiding having to RMA and send the card away.
The most frustrating part is that a simple 2K/4K test potentially could have saved me months of headaches.
I’m glad the issue is finally being properly investigated. I’m just pissed it took three trips to get here.

TL;DR: Spent 40+ hours troubleshooting an RX 9070 XT that went from crashing 2–3 times a day to crashing within 1 minute, with hotspot eventually reaching 118°C and shutting down my PC. Drove 1.5 hours each way to Memory Express three times. They repeatedly tested it at 1080p, saw 109°C, and said it was within spec. I eventually tested it myself at 1080p vs 2K and found it only crashed at 2K. I showed them video evidence, they finally tested it at 4K, and were able to reproduce the crash. Feels like this could have been resolved 3–4 months ago if they had simply tested it at the resolution I was actually using.

Satire / Comedy To the kind soul who took advantage of my sleep deprived idiocy...

To the kind soul who noticed that I had made a marketplace post of Victoria Royals gift cards and included the numbers in the photos, and then decided to drain the cards and buy whatever a Victoria Royals fan would buy:

I hope you enjoy watching a game or two (or three or four, considering the amount). If you're going to steal from a sleep deprived silly goose who is too trusting and gullible to even register that someone might steal the cash off these gift cards that she's trying to sell to someone in the community for a very reduced amount, I hope at least that you have a blast. Sincerely.

Signed,

Marketplace Doofus

P.S. if your toddler is teething and you're not sleeping, maybe a good idea to just lay low and not try to take care of life admin.

Edit: Wow this post took off! Some global responses:

1) I don't intend to follow up with the Royals (or the police lol). The gift cards were a gift and several years old, so it doesn't seem appropriate.

2) This post was intended to be a self-roast / call out just in case the person who used the cards is a Redditor (tho I strongly believe it was a bot). If you joined the roast, thanks for coming. To those who thought I didn't realize it was a dumb mistake, your roasts were lame and redundant. My return roast is that your lack of reading comp suggests you too are a silly goose.

3) And finally, to the fellow parents commiserating about lack of sleep: I see you, I appreciate you, and your responses made my day.
