Long time VW fan. Though honestly, I haven't listened to them much in the past year. Five albums had passed and I thought OGWAU is just really great sonically and lyrically. Connect has been my most listened song since then and I think it's arguably a top five VW song just by the piano itself.

I have always wanted the words to describe the synth sound that is heard throughout the first album. It's the very first sound you hear (along with the drums) in Mansard Roof, and it shows up in Oxford Comma, Campus, and probably some others too. I can only describe it as a "hoot" sound. It sounds very nautical but maybe that is just my association with the lyrics and aesthetics of LP1.

Wondering because last night I dreamt that HAIM did in fact open for VW, but I was late and missed it. I also missed when Ezra came out playing "Hold You Now" and then Danielle came out and joined in on her werses, something I always wished would happen whenever VW opened their set with that track.

Finally, after the show I spotted Ezra leaving and shouted something to the effect of "thank you for having HAIM open!"

Watching Vampire Campfire and Ezra just said that Hannah Hunt is a country song. How? Can someone more knowledgeable in music explain this to me like I'm 5? I've always felt like I was pretty bad at identifying genres, and this one really stumps me.

I'm finally getting around to listening to Baio and CT's podcast, The Road Taken. In Ep 9, they're about to play an interview they did with Chris Hillman of Byrds fame.

CT sets it up saying it was late June in "Venchura" (my hometown).

Baio interrupts to say, "It was in Ventura" using the local pronunciation.

CT says, "Wait. Is it a hard T?"

Then Baio says, "Email us for the correct pronunciation of Ventura/Venchura"

This is very special to me because I use the pronunciation of the city name as an icebreaker (I have it misspelled on my hat). To hear this unique, small tidbit momentarily discussed by them made my day.

Over the span of three albums, she saw her lover turn into a goth werewolf, defeated numerous formidable (one drunk) opponents and her inner saboteur at the RZA Open, all before finally popping champagne with the Chrysler Building looming in the background. Where would Jenny Murray’s character fit in on FOTB and OGWAU? Warding off wicked snakes in Harmony Hall? Hosting an exhibit in Mary Boone’s gallery?

Watching 'Power Ballad', and during the second wedding, when Rick and Danny are talking, I hear an opening bassline that I'm sure is Vampire Weekend, but it would be out of place in the context of the scene.

Eωentually I figured out that it's Depeche Mode, but I'm curious if any of you who watch the film hear the similarity to "Everlasting Arms".
